Shouldn't step 7 and 5 be reversed? How are you going to add water if you've already removed the plugs, but haven't installed the pump and stuff? The water will just run out of the skimmer...

For salt water pools, after the initial set up, how long should you wait after filling the pool and adding salt to shock the pool? and when to add chlorinating granules?
There is no strict rule of thumb. But the sooner the better is true. The warmer it gets with the cover on, the greater the chance you create an incubation situation for algae.
When I got my pool years ago I was told do it when the water reaches almost 60F, as algae will start to grow after 60F. I've been doing that ever since and always had a clear pool when opening.
I left my pool supplies and chemicals in the shed( heat and freeze) for the last 2 summers. Do you think still okay to use these chemicals ( chlorine& shocks... etc) or should I buy new ones?
Turn the key on the ratchet counter clockwise and push the lever up or down to release it from the teeth of the ratchet. Some times turning the key is difficult so try using a pliers etc.
I just bought an Intex Ultra XTR 18x52, do you think the 2100 GPH Krystal clear Sand filter/pump system that it comes with is sufficient enough for this size pool (to keep it clean and to use a hose vacuum) It will hold 6,981 gallons of water.
Algae starts to grow/bloom when the water temp gets to be 50⁰ or warmer on a consistent basis & your pool cover is still on. I live in St. Louis, Mo. & I usually open my pool (above ground 15' x 30') by the end of April. Once opened, the water is still too chilly to go swimming but I throw my solar cover on & by Memorial Day weekend...we're swimming while other people in our neighborhood are just starting to open their pools 😊
Never rely on what the pool store tells you . They will tell you to do all sorts of things to your pool. Some necessary some not.Thats how they make money. Do your research and find out how to balance your water with a test kit . You'll save yourself money. If you can't figure out whats wrong with your water by researching it then by all means see the pool store but most times you can figure it out on your own .
