Hi John: I can't possibly explain all of the steps for your proposed project in a RU-vid comment. You can call me when you have time to discuss your project - Chris 925-743-8236
Hi Kristen: The Auxiliary connections are located on the right-hand end of the Master Station - kind of tucked under the back of the Speaker Cone. There are 2 sets of RCA input Jacks (which are shiny silver) They are labeled as "AUX" and "CD" - Chris
Quick question… my patio speaker stopped working. The speaker itself works. I can talk to others inside and listen to them by pressing the listen button. I can change the music volume and channels as well… but besides hearing others by pressing the listen button, I can’t hear anything else out of this. What could be wrong? Oh, they could also hear me when I press talk on the speaker. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If you’re in NY Long Island, I would love to get you out here to fix this as well.
Hi iHeartindie: Based on your description of the problem - it seems that everything works except the Music (and possible that you can't receive calls from another station) - The 3 most likely causes are: The "Room-Control" switch behind the door on the Master Station is dirty and not making a good connection - Try moving the switch back-and-forth to see if it improves or use just a little contact cleaner in the switch There's a problem with the Switch Board in the Patio Station - Try swapping the Patio Station with a fully working inside station (just for testing) and see if it works There's a wiring/connection problem - If your DMC1 uses the Clear/Blue wire connectors behind the Master Station, a wire may have come loose. These connectors are flakey at best - A wire may have come loose at the Patio Station. check and reconnect - A mouse chewed on the cable (yes, this does happen) and you have a broken wire Chris
Hi Nae Mac: I'm going to make a guess that you have a M&S 6-Disc CD Changer installed with a DMC Intercom System. Unfortunately these CD Changers are a mechanical nightmare and usually they cannot be repaired. There are no replacement changers from M&S and they do not sell parts for them. Here's a link to our Video about these CD Changers: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tgu_toeEuVY.html Chris
I have one of these units with the 6 disc changer on the bottom but I was wondering is it possible to get a 3.5mm jack or Bluetooth installed in it. I know that they have another bottom that has it but that’s $500.
Hi ZuroxTV: Yes, it is possible to install a 3.5mm Audio Jack on a M&S DMC1 or NuTone NM200 Master Station. It is a little tricky to do, because their is only 1 space available where the Jack will fit and access to drill the hole for the Jack is very tight. I hesitate in showing how to do this - because I can easily imagine people drilling into the circuit boards by mistake - Chris
Hi David: Yes, sort of. . . this Video should get you going in the right direction: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-t6YswmDNVyI.html Chris
Hi Lorynn: The DS3B ia an Entry Door Speaker Station - It is not the Door Bell. The "Door Bell" (actually the Chime Module) is inside the Master Station. You could have 1 or more of several different problems. Without more information - I can't tell you exactly what to do - You can always contact me directly - Chris 925-743-8236
Hi Adam: I would have to agree with you, they are very poorly designed (that goes for the NuTone NM Series as well) and they were not designed to be repaired. The lack of support from the manufacturer's (both M&S and NuTone) makes these models a bad choice for anyone looking for a new Intercom. As I understand it - NuTone has discontinued offering any Service or Repair on any NM Series and M&S no longer will do any repairs on any out-of-warranty DMC units. I was told by a reliable source that NuTone had intended to setup a Repair Service for the NM Series - but that plan was scraped due to pressure from NuTone's parent company and all of the reaming NM Series Master Stations, Circuit Boards and Parts were discarded. You would think that at the very least, NuTone could have sold off these items to a Service Center (like us???) who could have put together a program for repairing these models for consumers. We can repair some problems on the NM & DMC Models - but solving some complicated problems seems beyond difficult. - Chris
Would this video, or any others you've made, help me to disconnect and remove my M&S Systems Model MC350A Master Station? How about the room speakers? Thank you.
Hi Dominin: I don't have any Video about the M&S MC350. I would recommend contacting Nortek Customer Service (they own M&S) for a copy of the Installation Instructions - 800-421-1587 - Chris
Woke up this morning to a clicking sound from my OLD unit. Keeps going to LIST but along with a clicking sound. Should I disconnect it? It's old and we don't use it.
Hello Bert. I have a very similar problem with my m&s mc602 I can't seem to get it to work. Tried re-set, etc. Wondering if you got an answer to your problem that helped you or did you just disconnect. We would like to keep our going as it controls the doorbell. Thanks for any help. Marc
I have a MS CD changer system with several intercoms that was installed by the builder in 2005. Of course once i moved into the home, the M & S System did not work. The white M & S System is discolored and turning yellow. I was trying to hard wire a RING doorbell system or another similar hard wired doorbell that actually works. After many hours I figured out that the doorbell wires are directly ran from the 16v transformer in the garage to the M & S System. From the M & S System to the actual doorbell. Any suggestions on bypassing the M & S System so I can have a functioning doorbell? What do your customers usually replace their master M & S System with as the main base is in my living room and it is dead space. Thank you very much. GREAT DETAILED VIDEO !
Hi J SALAZAR: Your question requires a more detailed answer then I can provide here. It would be best if you contacted me directly to discuss your questions - Chris 925-743-8236
Hi James: I will need some more specific information about your system. Please fill out an Intercom Repair Request Form and once I receive it, I'll contact you by phone to discuss the problems with your DMC1 and its repair Here's a link to the Repair Request Form: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdQHT6fVgm25twaXFeCkkgeITEfAE_zlRBry6B8-GbIs19wcQ/viewform?formkey=dF9RVjBQMFQ5S0xYbTBHMHRoNkVkRFE6MQ Chris
I had a lightning strike near my house and it shut down my MS DMC1/CD. The local authorized MS repair shop (oddly enough is a vacuum cleaner repair shop) technician told me that MS does not repair or sell parts and that you had to buy a new unit. He quoted $1200 for the upper section and $800 for the CD player lower unit. I am just wondering if the fuses blew in the power unit. If so, it would probably be a much cheaper fix to get this clunker back on line....my wife complains about the blank screen because she used to use the clock all the time
H George: It is true that M&S does not offer repairs on equipment that is out of warranty. Checking the Fuse would certainly be the first step to see if it is blown - Here's a link to our Video that shows how to check the Transformer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Usmvj2kRYbc.html As for replacement equipment - a new M&S DMC1 Master Station can be purchased on Amazon for around $450.00. Swapping out the DMC1 is fairly easy to do. The CD Changer was discontinued over 7 years ago and there are none available. If this were my system - I'd abandon the CD Changer - Ideally, by removing the double wall-housing - replace it with just a wall-housing for just the DMC1 (yes, you'll have to have the wall patched) and then set up the DMC1 with an Auxiliary Input Jack, where you can connect a modern audio source - Chris
@@northsideservicecompany3567 Thanks for the response. On the CD series the transformer is buried in the wall below the CD player. Do you have any video showing how to pull the transformer and disconnect it. If I am able to fish it out of the wall and the head unit checks out OK on the mulitmeter...what is my next step? I cannot send the transformer to M&S. How would I check and/or replace the fuse(s)?
@@georgeellis4822 Your M&S DMC1 / CD has 2 Transformers (1 for each unit) and they are mounted in the bottom of the Wall-Housing. It will be obvious hoe to remove them, once you have the equipment removed. Here's a link to out Video about replacing the fuses: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-p_aEsNCyzIo.html Chris
I am wondering if I detach the face plate and extract the transformer...if I can mail them to you and let you see if you might get them operating for me. There do not seem to be any places in my area that will work on this units..they will only replace them for $2000. The home alarm company that initially installed it told me that they were such a PITA that they stopped installing them. If it were just a fuse in the transformer, you would save me a lot of money. thanks.
My display just quiet lighting up. Also, you cannot turn it on and off it just seems to be dead. It is only 3 years old as I bought it in September 2016. I tired resetting but it still will not come on it just flashes. What could be the problem?

@@northsideservicecompany3567 thanks Chris. I have two question if it's feasible. 1. Do I need keep the door speaker can I remove the door speaker? 2. Can I use AC adapter replacing the transformer?
My dmc1 screen started flashing and there is no display. I want to know how to turn it off completely since it is of no use like this. Nothing in the manual tells how to address this.
Hi Leslie: I would recommend that you locate which Circuit Breaker is connected to the circuit that is powering the DMC1 - Turn the circuit off and leave it off for at least 1 hour. After turning the circuit back on - test the DMC1 to see if the problem has cleared up. If it has not, you can open the DMC1 and unplug the Master Station for the Transformer - Chris
I'm trying to work with one of the old M&S syetems in my home. I'm trying to figure out if they are 70V or 8ohm so I can potentially replace the head unity with a distributed amp. Any info? I can't find manuals or even a website for M&S.
Hi Mark: I'm not sure which model you're working on - regardless, none of them are 70 volt systems and as far as I know, all M&S Systems use 45 ohm speaker cones - Chris
I Think I may have blown one of those fuses inside the transformer that you mentioned the intercom system with the CD changer Is 14 years old I am quite handy for an old man but I don't know what circuit breaker to shut since it doesn't work and am afraid to touch transformer
Thank you for answering me today is Saturday I opened up my intercom system as shown by your video and tested the Transformers after locating circuit breaker both are supplying power I might add I have the attached CD player that has two 2 amp. fuses now that i have confirmed that there is power going to my unit, I am baffled as why nothing is energerized. I also have the chime attachment which also doesn't work

Do u have any video on m&s mc602 old intercom system? I bought a home with this system install..works great but want to know how to connect aux or bluetooth addons? Thanks
Hi Dr Kiran: Sorry no, We only work on NuTone Intercom Systems, with the exception of the M&S DMC Series, which is the same as the NuTone NM Series - Chris
Hi TheNascarfan14: Unfortunately I don't know of any shops that repair M&S Systems. M&S never had Service Centers, and all repairs were done at the Factory in Dallas Texas. When M&S was purchased and move to California - they stopped offering repairs on any early equipment. There used to be an independent shop in Texas, but the owner retired a few years ago. What model do you have and what's wrong with it? - Chris
