In this stream, I am attempting to show you in a LIVE format what a contest operator does and what they do. I am entering for FUN only and will supply a check-log. It so happens that both ARRL Field Day contest and King of Spain Contest ir running. Let's have some fun. Callum.

Awesome. Thanks for this. I've never done any contesting so this is very helpful and gives real world insight. Question: at 36:30 you barely listened between each CQ call. In a contest do people respond so quickly that you only need to listen for an instant, or am I not understanding what your were doing there?

James, nobody hangs around..! And folks soon learn to chip in.. Lots of reasons but if they miss the first time, folks are only calling for say 3 seconds then they'll jump in again. Also, if you wait, you will often hear people saying "QRZ"? because they want to know if you are a duplicate or not.. And also if you hang arouond, you will lose the frequency!

i am just starting on HF with my Xiego G90 so it will be no good me trying to contest with just 20W but i would like to know how to set up N1MM for when i get an amp cheers Cal 2E0FJQ

Hey 20 watts just fine I've worked loads on 10 watts Asiatic Russia on 10 watts 59 check me qrz page I have plenty of contacts on there so don't give up 👍

I have never been interested in contests but offen hear poor soles calling CQ and not getting any replies, Can I reply and what information should I give.

Right.. You look up the rules for the contest.. Normally it will be a sequential serial number.. that’s it..! I’ll make a video about it shortly..
