The Outlander PHEV is one of the world's most advanced plug-in hybrid cars, but that does not mean it has to be difficult to drive. You can either drive it the same as any other automatic vehicle or take control yourself and ensure you receive the maximum benefit from the amazing technology.
In this video TV personality Konnie Huq will take you through the innovative and intelligent systems in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and explain in simple language how to use them.
Join her as she takes us through a typical Outlander PHEV driving experience. She covers all the main features and modes you'll use when operating the vehicle. From EV and petrol engine range and the PHEV's 'leaf rating' to the specially calibrated modes for tasks such as towing, driving in the snow or EV priority.
So whether you are waiting for your new Outlander PHEV to arrive or interested in what the Outlander PHEV can do for you, this film will give you the answers you need.
For more information on the Outlander PHEV you can visit our website at: www.mitsubishi-motors.co.uk/c...

I have the 2017 model of this PHEV in Costa Rica, it is incredible. Simply the best I've had in years. The synchronization of its electric motors with that of gasoline (which is used very little) is really unmatched and I have saved a lot of money on fuel. From what I see in my country, as in many others, this vehicle has not been well appreciated in all its magnitude.

It’s has a garbage fuel economy when not running on electric 9L/100KM , which is totally unacceptable if you compare with of hybrid Highlander 6.7L/100KM. If you running longer distance above its electric range then it’s useless

This video was really helpful. I read the manual, but the part on regenerative braking was a bad translation and didn't make a lot of sense. This sorted out the difference between EV and Eco driving, plus explained regenerative braking and the battery save options really well. Thank you!

Make sure you use the slower 240v charging sometimes or most times if you can. This is because if you keep using the fast charge points, it will greatly reduce the charge the batteries can hold. It may take quite a few fast charges but it will reduce. Don't get confused with the range that adjusts itself according to your driving style. You can reset that range in the settings menu. There is a record of long term and short term, reset both and next time you charge you get you 26 to 28 mile range back. But you'll notice that your not getting that range even after the reset above if your batteries are dying due to consistent fast charging.

That's a great video. I bought a 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander GT not the PHEV because at the time I didn't have a place to charge it, but now that I'm moving into a house next year now I see and would really like this PHEV version very much. I'm not going to trade the Outlander I just bought back in February 2018 for this, but if anything were to happen to my Outlander then I will definitely buy this PHEV right away. I like your video, and it's great to see someone making this video that actually owns it😉 and knows what they are talking about😉

Nice review I have an older 2014 model... still love it, and would never swap for any other car! Tip for long distance driving try Charge mode till battery depletes to 20% or 10% ...then hit Charge mode again to bring it back up, so re- charge and repeat cycles. To power your house...the Chademo charge connector can source DC from the PHEV's battery back into your home, say in the evenings via suitable inverter.

Hello, I just bought a 2017 Outlander GX5hs and I have noticed that there are lights all over the car, for example, the dashboard, the steering wheel and it beeps to tell me if something is wrong. But the only thing I haven't seen is there are no lights on the door panel switches such as closing the windows and locking the doors. I tend to find I have to keep pressing different switches and fumble about in the dark to find which switch I need! I know I will learn over time but it seems strange to me that these switches on the doors don't have lights in them. Maybe there is a setting that I may need to go into that I don't know about so if anyone reads my comment and they know how to turn them on if that is even at all possible I would appreciate you letting me in on the secret! Great video and thanks for sharing.

own an '15 auris hybrid, my best mpg is 3.58 l/100 km (summertime) w/o plugin capability. that means more than 1000 kms per 40 liter tank. i would like a bigger SUV hybrid, especially an Outlander due to the S-AWC, but it's really hard to make sense of all the drive modes on this. plugging the car in, doesn't yield much range - especially in the winter time, filling up the 40 liter gas tank, again, doesn't yield much range either. i do think the best driving mode for this car was for it to start the gas engine at over 50kmh where it's efficient, with more electric assistance at high speeds, otherwise, below 50 kmh - EV only. and a bigger tank, of course. also - does it have a reminder to burn off your petrol fuel so that it doesn't decay in the tank?

Well a bigger battery really. Capacitors wouldn't really do much in parallel with batteries because their voltage is proportional to charge level. I'd just like to see a 25KWH battery that would really be a game changer.

Lithium Ion batteries should be kept between 20% and 80% for maximum life with a full load cycle (empty to full ) every couple of months to maintain ideal calibration. It is best not to put on charge unless it's below 70%. As with all batteries slow charging is less stressful than fast charging.

Excellent presentation. You quoted a (pound) as a cost for a particular doistance travelled and mentioned that was about 2/3 or 3/4 of equivalent petrol cost. Obviously that ratio is dependent on the price of the two fuels (electricity per kwh and petrol per litre or gallon). Here in Adelaide South Australia our respective prices are approximately 40 cents per kwh which a converter says is about 24 pence and our regular unleaded petrol hovers around $1.40 per litre or about $6.10 per gallon equating to approximately 85p per litre or 3 pounds 60 pence per gallon. From these figures can you tell me your fuel costs for electricity and petrol and therefore tell me what my savings would be? I own an outlander 2013 model turbo diesel with the 2250cc engine. In real world mixed driving it uses 8 litres per 100km of diesel priced at $1.50 per litre costing me 12c per km. I really hope you can reply as it will help me to decide next year on another turbo diesel or phev. P.S. I travel around 14000 km per annum. Wayne

There are three big mistakes in this video. The LEFT paddle increases the regen and the RIGHT decreases it (she got that the wrong way around even though the right paddle is marked with "+" and the left with "-", those details don't actually refer to regen strength but mimic "gears". Going down a gear, ie "-", increases engine braking). The second is the tree with the leaves. That is just a gimmick that has conned many MOPHEV drivers and has nothing to do with economy. It is based on how much one uses the accelerator pedal. To achieve the most leaves, drive everywhere in cruise-control and use the "up", "down", "Cancel" and "Restore" buttons to moderate the speed. It will be far less economical than sensible driving but because you are not using the accelerator pedal, the car will return a tree full of leaves. Thirdly, the ECO button does not reduce power to the motors/engine. It remaps the accelerator pedal so, to achieve the same amount of acceleration, one just presses it further.

Rob Pollock Hi. Great if your success with an European Mitsubishi version but the US model, as per one owner, is quite less efficient during hybrid mode. @@Rhaman68 What petrol SUV in the USA has better MPG? Rememb of course that unlike a hybrid, this can remain a pure EV even at high speed for short commutes. Charging speed I don't consider a deal breaker as you can drive long road trips on petrol if you need to, but every time you leave the house daily it's battery is full charged. I hate going to petrol (gas) stations weekly just to top the car up for the commute.

I have just done a 220 mile trip with only the initial battery charge and managed 34 mpg (UK) over the journey, mostly dual carriageway, with a mix of battery, save and charge modes. As you say, that's pretty good for a large auto 4x4, and as most of my journeys are done at about 80% EV my real average is much, much better.@@bobthebarsteward

@@stephenlane8366 my best hybrid mpg on a long run across the A66 was 42mpg, that's imperial gallons, which are bigger than US gallons, which always makes US mpg look worse than it is. My daily commute is a 70 round trip, I charge at both ends, the average mpg last summer was 126 mpg, this has dropped to about 75 mpg in the winter. Compare this to my previous Outlander 2.2 diesel, at best it got 40 mpg.

20 miles range in 25 minutes - what a joke. These vehicles stop pure EV's from charging by hogging the rapid chargers for ages while gaining very little - should be banned from rapid chargers. They could get almost as much charge from a fast charger, yet they rarely seem to use them. :(

There should be more charging points for all, but you make a good point that a PHEV owner should be considerate and not leave their car there for hours :)

Konnie, are you saying this because the car is actually that good or because you were the ambassador for mitsubishi? Your car was free from Mitsubishi but the common person will spend their hard earned money on this
