Great video Alec...Like the the idea of keeping your Poker money separate ..felted last week KK to AA ...and I start thinking what I could've done outside of poker w that buy-in...Really like the metaphor of visualizing the Poker money flowing!!......
I had to step away from poker for several months because I was absolutely burnt out mentally and physically. It took my wife saying to me this: " when are you going back to play poker? With you being home so much, you're driving me nuts. Go play poker and have fun." I did just that yesterday (5/9/24) at The Beau Rivage Resort in Biloxi Mississippi. In a turbo $100 event, I ended up 4th out of 62. I had a blast for the first time in months.
Ive sort of decided after managing scores of downswings that moving down stakes is not a very good answer. Playing 1/3 in most games is IMO adding variance due to the number of bad players who you can't isolate at these stakes. Maybe at 5 10 moving down may be the right answer but not below. The only way I've been able to manage is to see more cards and let the variance fall back to the mean. To me, this means min buying same stakes and adjusting play targeting weaker players and staying away from stronger players. There is a whole number of adjustments to make that no one talks about. Maybe its not a thing, but in any case moving down is effectively bad advice.
