Thank you very much for making this video. My ram is leaking profusely on my 16 Ton hydraulic press and I could not fathom how to get it apart with the internal return spring. Now all I have to do is locate the correct seal kit. I can't thank you enough for this step by step guide.
I think that stutter comes from air in the ram. The air is compressible so you have to move a lot of fluid to build up pressure to overcome the internal friction. It should clear up after you work the bubbles back up into the pump reservoir. Thanks for the vid. Ima gonna see if I can rebuild mine now.
The hard part is getting the seal kits. I have several 10 ton older rams with no name or numbers. No attached pump to be able to try and reference a kit number from. Just leaky rams. Lots of guys have them in shops everywhere. Not enough incentive to fix them. If someone could really get to the bottom of easy obtaining proper seals more guys would fix these pistons.
