springy 2112 great advice there. If your pins are good enough to use again then the spare pins will be there fir next time.

It's not uncommon - replacing the hardware as needed is part of the service.

Good video can I ask are the fluid seals directional on the rear of the 1200 bandit. As del was saying in 1 of his videos when he was doing the front seals on the 1200 bandit the front fluid seals have a higher lip face on 1 side that goes to inside. Just I need to replace my seals on my rear same bike as yours soon

Good question - but it's been a while. From memory I think the answer is no, but if you are buying OEM or quality replacements you will find out!

Hi very informative video; do you have any tips for getting the sized pins out of the caliper? I have heard that you can drill the end and drift them out?
@MotoMirius
@MotoMirius 6 лет назад
Hi Paul, You can drill a small hole in the caliper, just make sure it's smaller than the caliper pin. Even this doesn't always work and you may need to get brutal. Make sure you have replacement, non steel pins first. Then penetrating fluid, heat and locking grips. Some mechanics cut them in two - normally one end is stuck more than the other and work them out. Sometimes you need to split the caliper. Never, ever be tempted to reuse old stock pins even if they look OK or especially if you've cleaned them up, unless you will free them off every couple of months, otherwise the plating on the pins will be compromised and they will freeze into place.

@@MotoMirius Im about to do this job (bought new pins clips etc) and am expecting these 22 year old pins to be stuck fast! My idea is to try a small hole first, Then if that dosnt work drill a hole the same size as the pin to remove it. Then tap this half way depth and fit a grub screw (locktite) to reblock the hole and stop the new pin coming through. Make sense? Can you see any downside or danger? Thanks.

@@transporter1387 The two most common techniques are to cut them in half with a grinder - normally only one end will be seized and use locking pliers. Or drill a hole in the caliper and drift the pin out. Mechanics often opt for the first I'm told - it's cheaper to fit a new pin than the labour cost of getting the old one out, and you need to replace them anyway. Obviously heat and soak first.

@@MotoMirius Dont believe it! Ive had this bike for 13years and never touched the back brake and........ the pins came out with a slight wiggle with long nosed pliers! The pistons I pushed back with my fingers!! Result! :-)

Remove the crappy porn music and we'd be able to hear you better. What happened to the anti squeal plates? I saw the clips but no plates.

Hi David, I've experimented with music and I now even pay a licence fee to have much better quality of music on the channel, but I tend not to use it now, however you can't go back and edit old videos in that way, it's not possible on YT. The shims do tend to go astray over time and multiple owners and I haven't had the rear brakes apart on this bike for a couple of years now so I don't recall if I've replaced them now with new ones.
