@FraggingBard I hiked Mt. Fuji in Japan (and half of the country), Bukhansan and Hallasan in S. Korea and half of Norway including Trolltunga in my normal DC skate shoes, and had no problem. Unless you're really going to climb up Everest no special shoes needed. One pair on you, backup pair in the case, and you're golden.
Great idea eliminating 1/3 before you start packing. Never pack cameras or other valuables in checked luggage - they are theft magnets, so carry them on.
Boarding is in 4 hours, I have a 1.5 hour trip to the airport and my clothes are literally drying right now. I'm just killing time and distracting myself by watching this video, I'm f***ed... :D Thx though LHR
The BEST packing I've ever done, I fit a mountain of clothes for 3 weeks into my 1 suitcase, so good in fact, that I didn't even know what to do with my carry-on.
My tips on how to pack: first, get all ur clothes together, when you realize that your suitcase is probably to small, get a big one, but when u realize it costs money to have multiple suitcases, eliminate one, now take everything u have and shove it in your suitcase, and then you're probably going to need to sit on it, feel free to do so, now you jus saved space and money
This video is a life saver! I'm going to visit my grandparents in Brownsville, TX and then off to San Miguel De Allende, MX in a few days! I can finally pack all my clothing, shoes, and essentials in my LV luggage. Thanks to this video.
for carry-ons keep your bag of toiletries handy and easily accessible when going through customs. this way you aren't digging through your bag at the most awkward time. i travel a lot and i've learned how to pack a suitcase pretty efficiently. i don't fold anything. instead, i lay all of my clothes in a single layer on the bottom and bring in the edges, creating a bit of a cushioned edge, then i fill the middle with harder and more fragile items. i've found this way to be the best and easiest for me.
Well, this was helpful 😁.I used to pack like a maniac.I folded everything messy, shoved glasses, camera, technology into the gaps that were left (ending with MANY broken shades 😦).I ended up having to bring 2 suitcases instead of 1 😣...Nightmare 😜
That depends on what kind of trip you're going on. A lot of people may bring a pair of hiking shoes, for instance, in addition to their everyday walking shoes. My problem with that part was that I would never pack my shoes between my clothes without first placing them in a plastic bag (the grocery kind, not the bread kind).
I pack minimally. ONE pair of jeans will last me a week or more, depending on where I'm going. I pack like two or three t shirts and just wash and go. Socks I need like two pairs, same with underwear. Wash and wear baby. So for a trip that's like a week or two I can fit it all in plastic shopping bag. Shoes? I wear sneakers anyway, problem solved. I usually wear T shirt and Jeans so that makes total two pairs of jeans and three or four shirts. Who really needs more? Oh, think you might go fancy? Fine. One dress and flats or heels to go with it, maybe stockings. But honestly, it all still fits in the shopping bag.
***** Why? It's not like I piss and shit on them. I don't sweat like a pig so the jeans are fine. Besides, I'm traveling, not seeing people I care about. You must be one of those guys who showers three times a day huh? Yeah, I do once a day. I'm OK with that!
***** I should clarify better. You see I wear jeans and tees normally so I'm wearing a pair and take one with me, in essence, I have two. Wash one, wear the other, vice versa. :) Same with the tee shirts and undies and socks. Though I usually bring more than two of those, for variety's sake.
To make you feel better, the short answer is no, not a whole week, lol. I wear them a couple of days, wash, wear the others and switch. That will grant me 4 days on two pairs, then start over, easy for a week. :)
I'm going to be going to college in San Francisco, and I'm terrified that I won't bring enough stuff to last me the year. Thanks for the tips. I'm sure this will really come in handy.
It just seem so stupid to put clean cloths around or inside the shoes. And the camera (dslr, with lens!!?) inside the middle of the luggage like that, can be broken easily.
the camera would be destroyed if there are so many hard objects around it. very stupid, I always pack my electronics with multiple layers of clothes to keep them free of shock.
and also if you put it between its going to be broken right? it also may break... your comment may be useful alot but we can put it on the side so the camera eye dosent even break too :)
Followed this to the letter -- except for the bag (didn't get that either) but for my eight days trip with more clothes anyone could need, I was able to get it all it (including heavy Doc Martins) for 40.2 pounds!! I love this video and will use it again and again.
ha I already pack like this and didnt even watch this video before. I came up with the same method. using all space in the the shoes, folding rolling, making balls and packing belts like that.
Well for a week somewhere warm I usually pack: a shit ton of makeup, body products and hair tools. At least 7 tops, 3 shorts, 1 capris, 1 jeans. 4-7 dresses 1-3 skirts. 10 panties&socks. 3 bras. 3 bikinis. 2 cover up, a beach towel. 1 flip flop, 1 pair of wedges, 1 pair of pumps 1 pair of comfy ugly sandals, 1 pair of pretty flats, 1 pair of sneakers. And I'm usually at 48ish pounds...
I watched this the first time I left for England in 2014, and here I am, watching it again, because I leave in 34 days to go to Ireland...I just like to pack ahead of time, then the week before I unpack and repack, then to make sure, I do the same thing the day before I leave..
I don't think this is a good packing method tbh. This way of packing creates immediate mess right after you want find something on the bottom of the suitcase. If u pack like this, you need to totally unpack immediately after landing.
That was the first thought I had too! I was watching "Up In The Air" with George Clooney and he was doing the same thing with his shoes. I usually just put them in the plastic bags that I get from the supermarket before putting them in my luggage.
James Maurin...I guess some are very particular about it, some aren't. just like some people don't let you walk with your shoes on in the house, while some can't care less. With me, I never put my shoes in my luggage without putting them in a plastic bag or a shoe bag.
Clean you're bloody shoes. Take a stick, dig through the bottom of you're shoes and take everything out. The inside doesn't need cleaning unless you wear shoes barefoot, or you're cats hang out in you're shoes.
OK, beaters, here's the VERY most important thing about packing: get luggage which has the handle mechanism on the OUTSIDE of the compartment, NOT intruding into it. The problem is where to find that kind of luggage anymore. Sorry, can't help you with that one, but I assure you, once you pack a bag with nothing but free space inside, you won't go back.
I'd like to give a shout out to my ADHD, making me watch 12 how to pack videos in a row. 😂😂💙✌ Any one else watching this whilst all of your shit is strewn about the room, cases sitting there open & empty, and your flight leaves in the morning? 😂😂😂
Okay haha this is definitely a packing guide for men haha...underwear and shirts rolled up in and around shoes just to filling the gaps? And the shirts rolled up together, doesn't that make it very difficult to access the clothes once u packed? It's good u used the space efficiently, but really, things would get annoying when u are trying to find specific items once u packed...
What I don’t like is that literally every travel hack video says to do this but think about the UNpacking part, it will be so disorganized and hard to get your stuff when you arrive at your destination. Don’t do this, get packing cubes and some common sense
Not very good solution: pack your heavy shoes lower towards the bottom so that they dont crush sensitive cloting, ie. ironed shirts of jackets, Then turn a jacket inside-out to prevent creasing. Not that easy for an amateur I know. try better next time...
I'm leaving tomorrow to go to a family members island for Easter and I still don't know what to wear or use to pack in... So much stress. And this video helped me know how to minimize.
How about if I'm going to Disney land the last time went since I've never been to the main land because I'm from Hawaii I brought a duffel bag and nothing fit in side so how about if I were to buy things from Disney land how would I pack my bag or suitcase
Some good ideas, some idiocy too At 1:06, there is no even layer - the left side of the suitcacase (with the shoes in their sides) will be much higher than a bunch of thin t-shirts on the right. Same at 2:13 - do you have any idea how tall a DSLR is? The suitcase will hardly close with the arrangement shown here, let alone if you pile stuff on top of the camera.
who is watching this Like 4 months before going abroad? I was watching things like this before we even booked the holiday so I could Let my mom trust me to take my own small case instead of a huge one with my sister like she 12 her bra is huge
stopped watching after you said to put underwear inside shoes. i'm sorry, but i'm not putting ANY of my clothing that's going down there inside my stinky ass footwear
This lack of organisation and stacking would drive me crazy. I clean my shoes after every wear (yes I'm anal like that) and still would never leave them without a shoe bag in my suitcase
Better take 2 smaller cases than 1 big one as you strain your back much easier taking a bigger and heavier suitcase! Also use your bigger and stronger leg muscles than your low back muscles! Also try to get up and walk around every half hour! If you have back pain after travelling, see a good Osteopath ASAP. Travel safe! Josiah
I think people who are traveling like this aren't going to be concerned about their long term muscular health when they are only carrying their luggage for three hours, tops. One bag is easier to travel with, especially if you're one person, and easier to keep an eye on. Also, smaller bags cause more hassle, what with the size checking and everything. Plus, if you take two smaller bags, odds are the total weight is going to be more than the single bag would have been.
I always check if the hotel has a laundry so we can back half the amount of clothing. I take my own soap packets too as I've been ripped off by machines that don't dispense.
i stuff undies and socks on my fanny pack including my wallet ,passport etc its much better than stuffing it in shoes i stuff shirts in my shoes and guys get a iron from the country u travelled dont carry one it occupies a lot of awkward space where u cant put anything else
In my eyes, that's pretty dirty, putting your socks and undergarments in your shoes, you have already worn these and could be smelly and dirty, thus giving off the smell to your undergarments and socks through say a 9 hour flight like i do. You should instead put your socks together the toes touching each other and the other end touching each other, with the other end take it and roll them inwards together, much better! and just fold your clothes, not that difficult!
