In this video Odd is showing how he pack his pulk, and why it is packed like this.
If it's for a one-nighter or an expedition, packing the pulk to be prepared for the unexpected is critical.

Great video Odd! I sometimes wish we had more of the winter white stuff here in the U.K. instead of more of the wet stuff😂 I have to get my winter kicks from videos like yours and from my son who lives in Bergen! All the very best, stay safe, regards Clive from deepest Dorset. Looking forward to your next one👍

Odd, great idea! I'm going to add some chemical hand warmer packs in case someone becomes hypothermic. Throw those in with them in that bag and they (or me) will be toasty in no time. I've been wanting to get a Jerven bag for a while but I'll check this one out also. May God bless you.

Yea they are usefull. Its a shame they cost so much. The one in this video is another brand and sell for half the price of a Jerven.

@Heartsongsutube Thanks. This one is called "Dovrefjell Fjellduk Custom Hunt Thinsulate"- I also have another type called "Jerven Fjellduk Hunter". Both are insulated bivy bags with the same dimensions and properties

Har akkurat samme pulk til småturer og pakker også veldig likt. Legger også ut tørrforet til bikkjene flatt i matposen som dekker hele bunn. Håper du får noen knall turer i vinter 👍🏼

Pretty interesting setup , first time I see that . I have the same pulk as you but it has a tendancy to tip over in deep snow or when going on an uneven terrain wich drains a lot of energy . Too bad I am seeing this 2 years later ...thanks for sharing

Hi Odd, I like this method. Makes for fast deployment and pack away. Using the pulk makes a lot of sense. Over here in the UK there's not much snow at the moment but the winters seem to be getting colder or perhaps I am getting older and feel the cold more? Good system. Have a great Christmas. Next year I plan on visiting Sweden on motor cycle. I may even get to Norway. Maybe come and visit you and Fredrik?

Hey Sandy small world. Did you get there? I'm planning a simple solo trip to Norway next March using hotel as a base and pop out daily and if feel comfortable after a few days stay out for a few days knowing a warm room is there if needed 😅 I'll be getting a pulk and got skis and boots 😊

@@TonyHobbs Hi Tony, that sounds like an epic adventure but extreme cold in Norway. My face and left eye would freeze up, I have to be careful in cold weather!
@TonyHobbs
@TonyHobbs 3 дня назад
@WiltshireMan yeah I hear 0 to minus ten c by day and maybe minus 20 c by night. I'll need to check on face coverings potentially and gloves lol I've probably got everything for it by day and night either in hotel or I'll be getting a very warm sleeping bag for sleeping out hopefully maybe three nights from the week and see how it goes 😅

I use my Jerven similarly in cold dry conditions and I also use a vapour barrier depending on conditions but when the temp approaches zero and the humidity becomes a factor I had a situation where I slept in my bag inside my Jerven and I suspected the temp and humidity would be an issue so I ran a ridge line between the Jerven bag and the top of my sleeping bag forming almost a tent a couple of inches off my bag. I did this hoping the extra air flow (I left the head and foot open) would prevent moisture building up between the Jerven bags insulation and shell. Well I woke up dry and comfortable and couldn't feel any moisture but as I broke camp I hung the Jerven up and almost immediately water started pouring out of the zippers at the bottom. I estimate at least 1-2 cups of water came out and I fear a second night in that setup would have soaked my sleeping bag if I couldn't dry the Jerven. This isn't a fault of the Jerven bag and I consider my bag an essential winter camping item but it is something folks need to keep in mind. Love your set up.

talk about food for the week. Frozen thaw it and how much fuel to get your food ready to eat. Do you always have one hot meal a day or just prepackage stuff. Thank you from Wyoming.

Nice! Looks like a practical and cozy nest 😊 When you go on a trip with your partner - is it smart connecting the sleepingbags, to also share the heat. Or is it best to have one each? Finally a new video from my favourite RU-vidr 😊😊 Thanx!
@NorwegianBushcraft
@NorwegianBushcraft 4 года назад
Thanks! Well you sleep the best alone, but if needed body heat is the way to go to help someone getting back from hypothermia. You can connect several of these bivvy bags too. Helping sharing heat without sharing sleeping bag.
@ladybug4762

I wasn’t thinking of such dramatic situations as hypothermia. More to prevent being cold. 😊 Two makes more heat than one?!

This one is a brand called "Dovrefjell" and the model is "Custom Hunt Thinsulate". This is a new one I have not tested fully yet, but it seems to be competing very well with Jerven Thermo Hunter as shown in earlier videos. Both have the same dimensions and are insulated. This bag I purhased at www.magasinet.no

Good gear there, I especially like insulated Bivvi bag and your cooking pot. After a couple of days out in the snow and moving/setting up etc etc, you probably get into a little routine for packing the pulk. Just wondering if there are any differences between how the final move 'packed' pulk looks to how it was first packed?
@NorwegianBushcraft
@NorwegianBushcraft 4 года назад
Thanks, well it looks pretty much the same, cause it is packed the same every day. That way you always know where your stuff is. On longer trips there will be less and less food.

Hi, welcome over. In January those places are covered with snow, and are high up. So there is not any forest to play in. For that you have to go to lower ground.
