We are light packers as well. I like going to thrift stores and buy cheap clothes for trips. That way if I decide I don't want to bring them back and use the space for something else, I can without hurting my pocket too much.
I went on a 9 days trip and having one single backpack was amazing. I even figured I’d be better off with less items. I’ll repeat next month when I go out traveling. It’s so convenient, not attachments. The best part was leaving the hotel room without thinking where to leave my bags in the meantime, it was so liberating to just get up get ready and leave the room.
Way to go! Thats so freeing! We hope the trip went well! 😃. We just released a video on Carry-on only packing for longer trips, but there is still nothing like the freedom on a one-bag setup!
Thanks for sharing. I have traveled doing Carry on only but couldn’t do only a personal bag. It helps when the female is very simple in her accessories.
Hello where can I buy the travel pillow you show in this video? and where did you buy this little razor that was in the pink charm? and your bag you had bathroom things in. and your packing cup?
You’re good up to 40L backpack. Yes some airlines (international) in Thailand have 7kg only carry on and no check in luggage but even then I was all okay with a 40l backpack. There’s one ridiculously priced at 80 USD by Tomtac which is dirt cheap but good quality.
Hey there loved your video… congrats on the engagement!!! I was wondering when you’re going to restock on the packing cubes ? I really want some 😅 for my next trip 😊
Hi There! Thank you so much for the well wishes!!! We actually just re-stocked, so our packing cubes are back in stock if you're still in the market! :) We also just released an updated packing video for our Carry-on setup if you're interested!
I live in Europe and the measurements for personal items for most budget airlines are SMALL. Way smaller than the backpacks you guys took. 😅 Sometimes, they let you off easy but more often than not they make you pay a fee and even make you check the backpack. So it's squished among all the heavy hard shell suitcases. Not the best if you packed everything in there, tech might break. 😅
One thing I cannot understand...there is a weight restriction of even carry on luggage. At many places, it is 7 kgs. How come your packs, with so many things, were less or equal to 7 kgs (if that was the limit) ? Either the airlines did not check, or you had a personal luggage(s) as well. Can you throw any light on this?
Nice videos, I'm in NY but actually spending the holidays (and a severe snow storm), waiting to come back to Cusco for the 5th time. I hope you go to Chango club this weekend while there...
We hope you weathered the snow storm well! We missed out on the Chango club, but I guess thats a reason to go back! We LOVED Cusco, it is such an amazing city! 😊
Definitely doable when you are going to place with a hot climate, plus you won’t loose your luggage . Unless the flight is full and they make you check it in and then loose your bag 🥴
Ive been travelling 2 months europe korea then europe again. Ive been wearing the same pants now for 4 weeks. You need less than you think. And i didnt wash them once. Good as new. My tip? Bring the pants your wearing and no more.
Well, the creator of Levi’s died in 1902, so it’s unlikely Levi Strauss wrote a social media post. ;). I think high cotton denim can go a while as long as you air it out and spot clean spills/ minor dirt. Don’t sleep in them and expect low odor.
Hi! We actually use two different day-packs, one is more structured (but with the zipper on the inside to be theft-resistant, and the other is a collapsable daypack that folds down to next-to-nothing. We actually just released an updated packing video (for our Carry-On setup) where we walk through these day-packs in greater detail! Feel free to check them out if you're interested!
If you get on their text list, they send really cheap deals, like a great dress that can be worn as a dress or nightgown. It packs down to nothing and doesn’t wrinkle.
Great video! Thanks for showing a more average person’s packing for a trip like this, old navy and 32 cool are great for those of us who don’t want to spend 300 dollars on the merino wool t-shirts and super technical trail pants every travel channel loves to sell
So glad you liked it, and appreciate our style. We just released a carry-on packing video where we walk through everything we brought on our recent multi-month Europe trip! Spoiler alert, still lots of Old Navy and 32 Cool (but also some new stuff!) Thanks for the kind comment! 😃
What a cute couple you guys are!! Congratulations on your engagement and packing cube company. This video was suggested to me- as I am always looking at packing videos. Thank you for the great suggestions.
Also - We just released an updated packing video on our Carry-On only setup! If you're a fellow packing-video lover feel free to check it out and let us know what you think! 😃 Thanks again for the kind comment! 😃
Your packing cubes for kids are cute! I do the same thing for my daughter, except with gallon Ziplock bags. You might think about expanding to a "swimwear" pack and a "pajamas" pack with some fun prints.
Your information is some of the best out there for personal size packers. Just the type of pack I was looking for! Ordered one right away! And Google fi was also a super helpful bit of travel information. Thank you so much!
So glad it helped, and we hope the pack is treating you well! We just returned from 2 months in Europe, and Google Fi was got us through the whole trip! We also just released a video on our Carry-on only packing setup, where we walk through everything we brought in that bag for this trip, so feel free to check it out if you're interested! 😃. Thanks again for the nice comment, we hope you've had some amazing travels yourself Molly!
Hi Courtney and Michael. I ordered the packing cubes through a relative from USA and got the package today. It’s totally awesome and kids are super exited to use it . Thanks sooo much
Wow, thank you so much for your support!!! We are sorry that they were not available in your country but we are so happy you were able to get them through a relative. We really hope they help with your packing/travels ☺️❤️
Courtney! thank you for sharing with us about the travel tip of wearing a belt bag and swing it around before boarding. ✈oh! and congrats for the engagement!!
On my last flight we were allowed one personal item. They were checking passengers for cross body bags and fanny packs. They asked passengers open their jackets if they saw one, they had to put them in their personal item bag.
Thanks so much for the support, Jailyn!! We're hoping to expand to adult-sized cubes as well in the future but they can definitely work for lighter weight adult clothes! 😊
This video was incredibly helpful and full of neat tips! Thank you for sharing AND congratulations on your super cute packing cubes and the engagement!!!!!
Can you make those same packing cubes in the colors without the days of the week on them. I think they would be great for things other than daily outfits.
Personal items in Asia (for e.g. Scoot Airlines) are 18L max. So, this video did not meet my expectation of "personal item." Thank you for sharing your experience, in any case.
Great video! Can you share the link to the waist strap for the backpack? I am unable to find it online and it looks like a must have accessory. Thank you!
Nice! I’ve been searching for many ways to pack so much clothes without making my backpack look bulky, and packing cubes are the answer. Michales bag really helped me out. Thank you.
It was an Indochino suit, so nothing too crazy. We're actually heading to Hoi An tomorrow though and will be getting a new suit made, so I'm excited for the upgrade!
Michael and Courtney, Congratulations on the engagement. You shared such great information on what you pack! We recently completed our first trip to Japan using a backpack! Light weight and packable and multi use is the key! I didnt catch the brand of Suit jacket and slacks you used. Ive been searching for something that is light weight, and wrinkle free/resistant. Please share any information you have on it. Thanks again.
I envy you for being so organized! When I pack, my mind is as scattered as my things. True story! 😁 So glad to have watched this! I always think that travel is made easier when you have the best travel gear and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for travels like this. Thought I'd share it with you, too! 😉
This is NOT an ad. I can also vouch for the Nomad Lane Bento bag. It is a Mary Poppins bag, super strong and very elegant looking. It took everything I threw at it, and it weighed 23.5 pounds, but it held what I needed. It is not a backpack, but a duffle. Unfortunately, it is only 24 liters. I hope they make a 30 liter one.
Back in the day (late 80s to mid 2000s) I used to pack by the day for the whole family but had to use large zip lock bags. I never took more than a large suitcase on road trips and at the time I had 8 kids (9 now).
Did you list a link to your hanging toiletry bag that I missed? I’m interested! I bought the travel bottles you recommended & like them a lot. I travel with an empty misting bottle to spray my jeans to refresh them overnight. Super great backpacks. I am interested!
Your packing cubes look very well made. I noticed that they are organized in the colors of the chakras - was that intentional? I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you!
We did carry on for 2 weeks. I could not image going personal item! Good for you! My obstacle is that I must pack comfy warm clothes and that takes up a bunch of space.
Not really sure that those are personal items by the definition - these are carryon bags. You guys got lucky. I’ve been called out in Asia and South America for using a 30L bag.
Packing cubes at home such at these would be great! While traveling though, rather would do so by category … shirts, pants, dresses, cause tend to change my mind bout outfits while on vacation. :)
12:14 the jacket company, she said it correctly the first time. Think: The Kind aka da kine. It's slang Hawaiian for essentially "whatchamacallit" or "that thing". Da for the and kine (rhymes with fine) for kind. 🤙🏽 🌊
Thanks for the great long video with all the details. Have you mentioned how heavy your bags ended up to be?? I know sometimes airline has weight limit for personal baggages.
I stayed for the whole video, because the information you offered was valuable to me. Thank you so much. I've subscribed and look forward to binging some of your other vids. Well done.
OMG I'm going to Colombia for 17 days. Great video. How much was your baggage/luggage allowance with IBERIA? Was your backpack weighted 10kg ? I only have a 10kg allowance :(
I always travel with 2 Jeans, ones on me another on the bag, and I one gets too stinky, I wash it while wearing the other (but to be honest…. i wash them very little 😅)
