Lovely stuff. I was thinking about what I like about your painting style and I think it's that it has a sense of 'reality' to it. A lot of miniatures look like they were painted to look like other miniatures, rather than 'the thing itself'. The last time I bought 'White Dwarf', (over twenty years ago...) for example, there were a lot of pictures of immaculately painted tanks and such that somehow managed to look like they were made out of fondant icing. Not the case with this fella, it looks like its made of armour plate and smells of oil (and the camo looks great!). I was going to recommend 'Brassey's book of camouflage', but I had a look on Amazon and it's up for thirty quid. It isn't worth that, but if you could get a copy for a fiver or so, I'm sure you'd find it interesting (sorry for assuming you are as sad as I am, just smile and nod). Just as a matter of interest, do you paint a lot of A.F.V.'s?. Again, great stuff, and keep 'em coming!.

Mate, that comment just made my day 😁. I grew up building and painting scale models, which is where the realist approach comes from I guess. However, there is so much we as modellers and painters can learn from different styles and "disciplines". There are elements, techniques and tools which I love from Eavy Metal, or Blanchitsu, or Grimdark, or gunpla, bust painting, or the range of disciplines within scale modelling! There is so much out there to discover. Which is why I started on the Flying Raven Studios journey to explore it all and we have barely scratched the surface yet 😀. I have done some AFV's. I grew up mainly in the world of scale aircraft. However I have had a AFV 432 Bulldog sitting part finished on the bench for sometime. Which I want to finish and eventually build into a diorama. I will eventually get to it!

P.s. thanks for the book recommendatuon. I had a quick look and it was a similar price even on ebay. Some lots were even going for triple figures 😳. Will keep an eye out though 👍

@flyingravenstudios, how would you go about doing a black multicam scheme. Trying to figure a working method for my Tau kill team

Yeah that could look awesome. Personally I would start with a grey (even a dark grey) rather than black so you always have somewhere to go when you want to create shadow etc. Have you seen this video?
