The two-tone reminds me of the way fish are colored. Like, a shark would be white underneath to hide in the sunlight, and blue/gray on top to hide in the dark blue of the sea.
I am building a Tau army as well, as I love underdogs! I started building Tau 3ish years ago and have found I wanted devilfish and skyrays but had no idea how to paint them. And then, you uploaded this, masterpiece. I now know. These look genuinely amazing. My only change is itll be ocean camo but bravo!
RAF bombers used to use a black bottom but camo tops, so new take on an old idea. well done, son! (I met you at warhammer world once, I was carrying some cardboard boxes into the main hall for a game. Doubt you'll remember me though).

Because it's too good on a video about two tanks ;) And yeah, I found you when your first sort of viral video popped up in my feed, that was, what, your 5th or so video? Liked it a lot (I like Chaos Knights a lot too), liked your style and humour, and I just couldn't believe you only had, what, barely over one hundred subs? And well, no better way to grow this channel than to interaction in the comment section, right? So I'll try to keep doing just that, until you're at the million subs that you deserve ;)
@@pieterschillemans5960 I’ve been saying tank you to people all day to amuse myself and you’re the first one to call me on it 😂 Thank you for the support! I’ll be getting back to the chaos knights towards the end of the year I severely burnt myself out painting them and learning to make videos. It’s a lot better now my workflows tightened up with video production but I can’t face the knights again just yet 😂
@@LizardofDoom Switching projects is a good way to keep thingd fresh for yourself, and making you want to paint them again after a while ^^ But it's good to know that the knights will return, when you feel up to it.
I paint my flying bases like any other models base. I mask the stem for spraying and only remove it after final varnish so it stays transparent. The bottom gets based to match the rest of the army.
That looks great! Regarding your camera issue, you need to turn off auto white balance. That is anyhow not needed if your lighting is always the same color.
@@LizardofDoom yeah, I’ve just bought one hence how I found this video (definitely going to stick around seeing that you have Gundam and Tau humans videos) and yeah that’s basically the only problem that I’ve noticed.
Just realised we have the same Horny Tweezers. Finally a kindred spirit. I have said this before but its so awesome to see someone make mistakes, run out of paint etc etc and just carry on the way I do seemingly everytime I do a project. They look awesome by the way, great effect.
