How to Paint a Christmas Tree! - DIY Christmas Gift (Acrylic Painting Tutorial)

Though Christmas trees are a fairly simple shape in most of our minds, and I'm sure all of us have drawn a few cute little triangle Christmas trees through out the holidays of our childhoods, but figuring out how to paint a Christmas tree with realism and a nice background can be a little more difficult. So here is my painting tutorial on how to paint a nice simple and fairly easy Christmas tree, details and background and all.
You can use this to make a DIY Christmas gift for your family members or friends during the holiday season!

Thats wonderful! I'm so glad it worked out well for you! I love seeing people use Gouche. It's such a pretty medium. I've never gotten into it but I've always really wanted to.

Designers Gouache are great,,expensive though. I paint from vintage Christmas cards, and also from old American comic book cover, and they end up poster size.

Thank you Emily. It's 28th October 2020 and time for me to make a special card to send to my son and his partner in Australia, as I will actually need to post it soon! I just starting out. Not good AT all. But I love watching and so I figured if watching soothes me. Maybe the actual painting will as well. I like the idea of the footprints, but if it had been me, I would have had two peoples footprints with it forming an off center view if a heart around the tree as if they had both took a side of the tree to walk, with a house light in the distance and a wide path through the woods to it. As if a couple had gone for a walk from the house and got all romantic with their footprints around the tree! Maybe the planted it lol... Hope that made sense!

I wish I could get on with acrylic, but sadly either I don't like it or it doesn't like me, as it's dries rock hard, so I can't blend! Been using Designers Gouache paints on heavy 140lb paper for decades. I paint from vintage Christmas postcards 100+ years old, and from 1940s - 1960s Christmas cards, My art usually ends up poster size or down to say 12 x 16 inches..much harder to draw and paint smaller.
