You are a hoot…made the learning experience so much fun. I am just learning to dot…who knew there is a learning curve (lol). I expected to just jump right in to actual round dots that would make me proud…NOT…I have wonky dots. Your vids have helped a bunch. Heck, I’ve been painting for almost 50 years…what made me think I would not have a learning curve? However, it all has been worth it. I’ll keep on DOTTING…. Hope you do as well and will keep sharing. Makes my days brighter with the laughter. Thank you!

Above all, I love your sense of humor! And I love how your fails really just become challenges to learn from and overcome--not discarded trials. Great use of multiple tools on your designs. I hadn't seen the silicone-tipped tools before. Many thanks for sharing.

Aww thanks 😊 Art time is all fun for me - even with the fails. If it was all effortless and easy it wouldn’t be as much fun. Thanks for watching Kristen! ❤️

I wondered when I saw the thumbnail how you got resin on that! Lol! Love your videos! My first resin tumbler, it took lots of do overs, and tons of sanding, but it will always be my tumbler!

Resin is so tricky. Sometimes it works and sometimes is really really doesn’t, lol. I like the process. Mistakes = learning. 💝

Thanks for posting this. I'm always glad to see solutions to problems that may arise. I hope you'll be posting the 3rd coaster...it's my favorite. 💃

Hi Virginia! I didn't record that one! I want to do the same design on a box so I'll record that one for you 😘

They turned out beautifully, and you dealt with all those little faux pas very well. But I have to say, that is not a project I will attempt. To much work. I like to finished the painting, seal the project and done!! And yes, there was plenty to learn there!

So cute! Another winner! I love any info on resin as I am trying to overcome my phobia. Just treated myself to a kitchen torch so it’s gonna happen. Either that or creme brûlée. 😂

That’s so funny! I said the same thing to myself trying to justify buying a torch. AS IF I’m ever going to make creme brûlée. 😂 love it.

Little tip that I learnt from a resin head! You can spray alcohol onto the bubbles and it pops the bubbles in the resin - I know! No heat no melted silicone moulds! How awesome...just spray lightly but it does work I tried it 😊 The coaster is so pretty and gave me a great idea for some plain resin coaster I made to sample pigments I’m gonna for on them and then resin over the top..thank you thank you for this idea ❤️

Alcohol! I’ll try that next time. I just love using the torch though. I really get into it 😂

The Dotting Center oh me too but had those melted molds which is never good! I use it if I’m just doing a thin layer - not to close ( the spray ) or you can end up with alcohol ‘puddles’ also not a good look 😄🙃

I am petrified of resin but you wanted a messup story: I was painting an 8 pointed star/swirl design in blue on a black background on a plate. It came out perfect. I needed to finish around it so I wanted to continue the dotting. It was the holidays. I work full time. Have kids. Was exhausted... and at 2 am just painted purple dots to fill in the negative space. In the morning I realized it was WAY too much. So I tried to topdot with black to "whiteout" some of the purple. As I was doing it my 12 year old said "I love the bubbles" and "Is that an octopus in the middle?" Well, after that everyone wanted the octopus bubble design.... and thought I was brilliant and imaginative.... no - just overtired!! :-) Thank you for your tutorials!!! This coaster pattern inspires me to make some of my own. The blue and green teardrops speak "hot air balloon" to me and my auntie loves them!

I loved it! I also love how easily you handled your mishaps!! Yes I learned a lot, thank you!! I have lots of things I want to resin but honestly I'm afraid to mess them up!! I'll have 2 give it a try soon though because some are Christmas presents!! Thanks for your details!! I didn't know about having 45 minutes working time to get out bubbles, that is priceless!! Love & light to you!!

I love the six elf faces on the Special coaster! Hey, did you make the resin table too? It's beautiful! Thank you for a great lesson in how to cope when Things Go Wobbly and I'm so pleased you kept batting as it ended up just as precious as the others.

My table is a glass top table where I display my coin collection. Yes, things "go wobbly" quite a bit with art and I welcome the challenge of working through the ugly stages. GROWTH, right? Thanks for watching. I love your comments. Are you a writer?

Awesome video as always! I love the design. I don’t see the Cali marker you recommend in the description. I am probably missing it but if not please let me know as I am looking for something like this. Thanks for all you do!💖

Love it Rachel! Thanks! I have what they call ‘Intention Tremors/Essential Tremors’ and so many times I have tried to those drag dot thingys. Every time I tried to do one, yes just one, it looks like a tadpole lol 😩🤔 what to do 🤷🏼‍♀️ IDK 🤷🏼‍♀️

When dotting onto a non-glazed ceramic tile for a coaster, how would you seal the pain to keep the coaster absorbant. My guess is to bake on the paint for sealing. Please advise.
@TheDottingCenter
@TheDottingCenter 3 года назад
Some multi surface paints require baking while others don’t. Since it’s a coaster, I would want to add some epoxy resin to protect the surface from damage, but some are ok as is if they’re baked on. Maybe test what you have and see if it works before committing to a detailed project? Good luck!

Do you have a link for the resin molds that you used to encase they black coasters?

No, but it's a 4" round silicone mold on amazon. It might be under cake molds?

What is the micro tool that you used?

I used an applicator bottle and a 1/8” pointed silicone tool for tiny dots in this video. Both are linked in the description if you’re interested 😊
