Thank you so much 😀Heather. I've been wanting to paint something like this for a while. That red, yellow and blue combo really sing. I try and capture the detail and colour on video but it looks much better in real life. 😃

Hello, Paul! What a wonderful shout out and surprise! 🥰 I am so happy that you participated in the challenge, had fun, creating something beautiful and learned something in the process. I really enjoyed watching you create the petals of the poppy blooms with the stroke of the brush; a brilliant way to capture their shape and almost papery appearance. The landscape color choices were wonderful. You nailed it by adding the cadmium red. Love the addition of the wheat and seedpods. They created wonderful variation to the composition; being botanically correct is overrated 😉 this is art! Enjoyed your bloopers at the end there. We all make missed steaks...🙃 I thoroughly enjoyed this tutorial and watching the creation of this beautiful painting. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. 🤝💖

Oh Paul what a fantastic oil painting of poppies. How fortuitous to see them between the lanes whilst in a traffic jam! I am so glad you are a part of the challenge and hope you will participate in the next one! I have added your wonderful tutorial to the Flower Power Art Challenge Official Playlist. Take care, Paul!!

Hi Dena - thank you for your glowing comments. I often find my eyes wandering around and spotting some delightful little cameo apperances of flowers or scenes. I've often told folk who are new to painting that their world will never been the same again. They will see the world through the eyes of an artist. Where everything is their next painting. I look forward to seeing whats next to paint 🥰😎

I’m enjoying so much watching and learning your painting techniques. These poppy fields are a delight in rich color and softness. One extra thing I appreciate about your videos are that you teach us how we can continue through the process with (or without) little happy accidents by problem solving. What I am noticing is how much planning ahead is very important. Standing back is important! This method reminds me of the critical thinking in chess. What could happen if I do this? Or what I need to do ahead of time to get a desired effect later on. BTW I gave you credit and shout out on a live painting evaluation by Wildcreates AKA Ryan when he picked my “Splashes of Spring”, your version of the Bob Ross classic “Splashes of Autumn.” He also had great ideas how to use the accidents (happy of course) and what could have avoided them ahead of time. Thank you so much Paul, for teaching people that we can really enjoy painting!

Hi Stephanie - Thank you for the shout out. Its very kind of you to mention me. I occasionally drop into Ryans live chats. He's got lots of great ideas and offers lots of good advise too. I've a video idea brewing in my head involving Q&A's. There are so many often repeated questions I've answered over the years. You hit the nail on the head with your comment on planning. Its a key factor in wether a paintings going to work or not. Keep on enjoying the journey - Paul 😍😎

Thanks Paul! beautiful poppies field; I also tried it but could not reproduce the distance perspective you created; mine came out like: “everything right there front in center”… 🤣😂🥰💐
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt Год назад
Your a super star Laura 😍 thank you. Getting the distant look can be challenging. It looks easy until we try it on our own paintings. I keep in mind two rules. The first is obvious - less or no detail. Things are too far away to see clearly. Secondly - less color. This can trip us up as we tend to use a colour thats too saturated i.e. its too vibrant to be in the distance. Red is a tricky colour because the natural thing to make a pale red is to add white. But this makes pink of course. So a headache eh. My tip is to use the red almost dry. I knocked off nearly all the red so I could leave only feint smudges of pale red for my background poppies. Give it a try on your painting 🤩🤩 Happy Painting Laura
