Hi, Paul! Your painting reminds me very much of a photo I saw this week of mountains and trees in Glacier National Park in Montana. I saved it as a screenshot so I could use it as a reference. So, it was really fun that you basically showed me how to paint it in your tutorial this week! Thanks for all the great teaching, demonstrations of techniques and all the tips you gave us. I always look forward to your new videos each week! My very favorite part of your painting was the water... I hope to learn to paint water beautifully, like that! I really appreciate you showing me how it's done! Best wishes, as always, from Utah! Have a wonderful week!

Hi Paul! I am enamored by the blues in this! The water looks very active and bubbly. I’m very excited to try some glazing now! Amazing how it really brings depth and distance! I’m going to try this one- with some Blue Ridge beauties in background! Thank you Paul- every new video brings a new top tip (lots of them actually!!) Have a fantastic week! Art hugs! 🤗 🤗

Hi Stephanie - yes, it's an exciting technique even if it's taken slowly. I did this on a painting of a train coming through a tunnel into sunlight. The scene looked a little flat until I dropped in a shadow at one end of the train and a few sparklers of highlight at the other. I think my student nearly did a backflip! Such a neat trick. Hope you have lots of fun transforming and playing with your paintings. A new tutorial is in the works see you soon. Bug hugs right back - Paul😃🥰😎

Hi Corinne 🥰 - well its just a matter of taking your time. Getting the mapping done is a big chunk of the painting and you can do that and come back to it when your ready. Maybe just paint some mountains as an exercise first. You can do it! - Paul 😃🤗😎

Paul...in my last message I said I was MIA but was back but... I was still MIA😜 I think I'm back now, though!👍🏻 We just had our county fair, this past weekend, so I got busy with that. My younger, persistent, stepsister forced me to enter a painting in the fair, again. I love this week's painting. I love a mountain with some green on it because thats what I see when I look out my back window. Ill see you next Sunday, for sure!😁

Hi Amy - so nice to hear from you. I'm sure your step sister is so proud that she wants to show the world how good you are. I hope she bought you a nice cookie as a reward! This weeks painting sat around for far too long and took an age to edit. I think some days I was MIA - Terri even asked who I was one day! But this week is different. The paintings done so its A and E's to get it finished. have a great week see you when ever you get the chance - Paul 😃🥰😎

@@PaulRansonArt No cookie😠 I couldn't make it to the fair the first night, to see how I did, but my stepsister was there and REFUSED to tell me. Finally, the next day, she sent me a photo. I was shocked😳...I got the GOLD ribbon for the top of my division! I also entered an acrylic pour painting, just for fun, and got a 1st place for that. I guess I owe my stepsister for pushing me😁 I'm glad you're back in action. Sometimes you just need to take it slow or take a break, all together. You deserve it😊 Fall is fast approaching so I can spend less time outside and focus more on painting.(If my crazy dog will allow it😜) Have a wonderful week😊

I'm trying to film two paintings in a week so I have a spare tutorial in case I can't get one ready in time for Sunday. - Lots of big arty hugs - Paul 😃😃😍😍

I love the way you show us how to do things...patiently and calmly. I have done the misty effect with acrylic by dry brushing gently the color I want to use to make the distance and mist but Im sure the glaze would be a much softer effect? Can I use glaze with acrylic?? Hmmm🙃 Thank you again!!!
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 18 дней назад
Hi Linda - now great minds think alike. I mentioned in previous videos that using acrylics instead of oils is a good idea. But the fast drying times are an issue. One lovely viewer suggested using Glycerine in the brush water to extend the drying time. Guess who just bought a bottle from the grocery store? So I'm going to experiment. Maybe it's the missing link and we don't need expensive acrylic retarders to extend the drying time after all. Paul 😃😎
@lindamyers8605
@lindamyers8605 17 дней назад
@@PaulRansonArt Ahhh Paul its been a long time since anyone accused me of having a great mind! 😄 Im going to try the glycerin too and I think I saw one person used Elmers Glue in the water to help slow drying time but I havent tried that yet. Im still struggling with composition of my paintings. I agree a great photo doesnt always make a great painting and I feel like I want to be able to "create" and not just copy. I guess that sounds arrogant in a way but thats my goal. I havent tried oil paint yet but I might now that you showed me that dry cleaning of the brushes works. So much to learn!!! Have a beautiful day!!!🤩

@@lindamyers8605 hey Linda - nothing wrong with having lofty goals. I was once told 'if you aim for nothing, thats what you get' so aim high. If your still to get some oils try some water mixable ones. They work live very very slow drying acrylics. But clean up with soapy water. Best wishes - Paul 😃😃🥰🥰😎😎

@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 15 дней назад
Thanks for watching! Yes, the pallet knife can definitely work to create your mountains. But remember it will take a while for them to dry enough before you use the glazing technique. Maybe test it out on an older painting that's been painted some time ago. Have fun - Paul 😃😎

I'm nervous. I'm going to make this one my first. I have been watching you videos. I thing ó I need the right color . I need the right brush. But no. Let's go. One question. Can I use windsor &Newton blue black. I bought some colors twice but forgot my black.
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 17 дней назад
Hi there. This is a fun but challenging painting. Use what ever colours you have and mix them your way. Remember I used acrylics to sketch the initial mapping. But if you only have oils then make a thinned grey oil paint and sketch with that. It will take a day ot two to dry. Then it's all the same. Winsor and Newton are fine. - Paul 😃😎

One question. You paint on paper. Can you stack one painting (paper) on another? Do you put them in a box?
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 18 дней назад
Yes, once dry I simply stack them up. They dry super fast so I only have to have a few paintings out drying at any time. In my busy studio with two cats space is at a premium. After a few weeks I can store them in a portfolio case. Some are many years old ( 10+ ) and still look as good as new. But they may not last forever so I treat them as a practice 'canvas' - Best wishes Paul 😃

Good day Paul. Fantastic video. The painting is beautiful, and watching the tutorial reminded me of the very beginnings of my painting career. I have always had trouble making my oil or acrylic paintings have depth. It took many attempts to make something truly extraordinary. Your video today reminded me how much fun simplicity can be. Lately I've been asking too much of myself and trying to make every picture perfect. But your videos help me when I need help. My family also helps me, I'm glad to have wonderful people like them and you in my life. I would like to ask you if you read all my messages that I sent you on Instagram. You answered me, but above the Natura Pigment page there are a few more interesting things. I advise you to read them because they could turn out to be very useful. I remind you further, be careful and check which pigment or substance you are talking about if you are thinking of buying from the company Natural pigment. JEr have certain products that contain lead. They also sell natural Azurite and Vermilion, as well as Led-TIn Yellow. And these are all colors that are toxic. So always check. They also have fantastic other products. And don't worry, I read your message. I understand that you are allowed to open your own shop :). Also here is an interesting question. If you only had a brush handle without bristles, what kind of brush would you make? Once again, the picture is beautiful, and the video is fantastic. Sorry that my comment is a bit long. As always, I wish you a peaceful week, and happy painting, but also something different this time. A new interesting adventure. Until next time, enjoy.
@PaulRansonArt
@PaulRansonArt 17 дней назад
Hi Angel - Yes, sometimes we need to take a step back from ourselves. Re asses and do what makes us happy. If it's not then change a few things. Yes I dropped by the instagram page now and then and read the messages. Thank you so much for finding all the information. The very real danger of using toxic paints puts me off using them in the studio. As I mentioned I have a very large stock of all my favourite colours and just no room for more. Not yet! My favourite brush would be a palette knife! But if you need bristles then a fan brush. Have a great week and see you next Sunday - Paul 😎😃
