Harry. Hi Alan, Your winter scenes are so much like the Polish winters. They have inspired me to paint some views of the rural countryside where I live. Thanks again for your videos
Thanks so much, Alan Owen, for coming into my home, setting up your easel, and giving me a personal masterclass on watercolor technique. Love it. Thanks, again.
OMG...Alan, you make it so easy. I spent the whole day looking at your paintings. Alan, you are terrific. I have been painting since 94, during recouperation from cancer, I started watercolors, then acrylics, and I am back to watercolors, which is really my favorite.I have always been so detailed in what I paint, it is very time consuming but I do like what I do. I know I needed/wanted to loosen up and your method is the way I am going to try. I love hearing the rain in the background...lol.. Diane
Thank you Alan! I am a beginner in watercolours. You've taught me more just by showing me what you do in this one painting, than countless other videos I've looked at. I'll be painting this over and over again. You've opened up a whole new world to me. Heartfelt thanks x
Mine turned out as a "learning experience". That's what I call my paintings that don't turn out as I'd like them to. Not a failure- a learning experience.
have to check every day to see if Alan has posted a new lesson, I think it is a great idea to do a painting in different tones of one color. Beautiful!
Alan, I so enjoy all of your videos and have learned so much from watching you paint! You are a wonderful artist! I'm afraid I don't always catch every word you say, but still love to hear you speak. It makes me feel like I am on the other side of the big pond again in your beautiful part of the world! Please do keep that beautiful clock going in the background. Thank you!
Algo muy bello Alan logrado con distintos degradados de un mismo color. FELICITACIONES. No se imagina cuánto espero sus videos ya que aprendo mucho viéndolo pintar. Gracias.
Alan, what fun it was to watch this painting come together. I've got to give this a try. I liked the way you got atmosphere in it too. Thanks so much for posting this.
I love this painting, Alan. It's a great exercise in getting different tonal values in a painting. I thought the trees were beautiful the way they turned out! I like the bent and crooked...they have more character! ;))
that was wonderful to watch the scene come alive , it shows your talent and understanding of colour but also teaches us how to view scenes and think about how we use colour
You got a lot out of one color (and a touch of raw sienna)! This is a good exercise in working with different values. Also, loved the way you made the snow banks, so simple but so effective. 😌
thank you - i am just teaching myself watercolour and some paintings i do are awful and some are not too bad. i worked this one along with you and enjoyed doing it a lot. it almost looks like a charcoal sketch and i love it. many thanks...will be tuning in again. blessings.
Thank u I check every day for your next painting wow u make it look so easy can't wait to try one this weeked please paint more I have learnt so much what is y
Alan, your tonal lesson was wonderful and again so simple. As always I am a great admirer of your skies. Each time again a real surprise. I wonder how wet your paper is before you start the sky.
thanks Al, yes the paper can cost a bit, i think this is part of my problem, as an apprentice im not spending what i should, i want to try the fabriano 25 percent cotton 11x14 CP it costs $27 for 50 300g sheets and see if that helps.
yes paper is so important .dont go to rough in your choice or you get a mottling effect where the water-colour settles in the dimples . I prefer a not (cold pressed )it has enough tooth to skim over the paper to get the foliage in trees and I have read James Fletcher Watson was a user.. and I believe Mr Wesson
I think you are amazing...not only do you paint brilliantly but you teach well too! I am a beginner and love this medium and especially like your loose style which I think will suit me. Can I ask what paper you use and what size/make brushes you use? I cant wait to find another tutorial.!
Очень даже неплохо! Одной кистью так виртуозно творить. Импрессионизм. Достойно уважения. Интересно, вы с натуры пишите по памяти или сами выдумываете сюжеты???
A great painting. I something new from you every time rhat I watch you. I am just starting ro get into watercolor. Nwing a beginner should I start with cards? Dana
I am self teaching to paint in watercolour.love this exercise. your style of water colour painting is very therapeutic. stay blessed Allan. if pssbl pls do tell if paper was wet after u did sky in later part of painting.
+Farida kutiyanawala ,,,,,,thank you .stay with pure watercolour Farida , try your paper first if it is dry then damp it over don't use excess water .if you do some other type of painting like using the hake then you wet the paper all over first. although ,I can do that painting style and it is very easy , I find it gimmicky
Alan: always enjoy your paintings. I always listen to your voice with headphones because I love the lilt...even though--because of poor hearing (tinnitus)--I cannot understand what you are saying. I mention this because this is the only video of yours I've encountered where I could understand you clearly. Did you do something differently? If so...keep it up.
