Watercolor is my favorite technique, but I'm not even an artist, just a self-taught amateur) you have very interesting lessons, you can learn a lot, thank you very much
Mr. Lustenhouwer- Quiye some time ago I viewed a video of you painting a little girl in oil. Although I was painting in watercolour I could see that your examples could also apply to that as well. I am now ready to try my hand at painting a portrait of a little girl on the beach so I tried to refer back to that old video but by a stroke of luck I came across your attempt in watercolour! With your detailed running description I feel empowered. It gives me courage to see that even you have made a few trials and are brave enough to extend your repertoire to us watercolour painters. Thank you very much. I love your work. Happy new year!
Well explained thought process was as much fun to hear as the color application was to watch. What a darling portrait! You captured a child’s dreamy expression using careful restraint from too much detail.
Its truly painted with the Touch of love and a lot of sensuel practice. Its truly inspiring and I might take up Water color again - something I have not done sonce I was a child, but this joyfull way of painting reminds me of the deep joy of doing it and the joy of seeing what happens 🙏🎵💜🎶
I really love to watch you paint, Mr Lustenhouwer. Yes, you are very inspiring and your teachings are so therapeutic and soothing. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
I love your bravery and I will post that (Let me be Brave!) in big type by my drawing table. I am so happy to have found you! Thank you so much for sharing all the knowledge you've gained along with your wonderful dose of humility!
The drawing is so important, as you say. Really like the focus on large areas of color, and avoiding detail. Bouncing around, letting the paint dry, carefulness. I am about to begin some portrait work again, using the comparator mirror tool. Thank you for your gentle speaking as you direct yourself and your brush traffic. Lovely child.
Ben, I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful tutorials! It's one thing to watch someone paint. But it is SO GREAT to hear what you are thinking as you work. It's also heartening to realize that experts endure the same struggles amateurs like me go through. Kind regards Sir!
Such a great watercolour portrait Ben! and such a different technique from oils... You master it all! Thank you so much to share your knowledge with all !
Ben, I have been following your tutorials which I find very educative and inspiring. I feel like I know you long time. Recently I have been checking your site but I did not find new videos. I sincerely hope everything is ok with you.
Uncle ben, I have to ask you questions, should I first sketch with burnt umber and then wait for the canvas to dry and paint? Also, Why don't I need pthalo blue and prussian blue to start my palette? Also, how did baroque and renaissance painters match colors?
You talk about oil paint I guess. If you make a detailed sketch in Burnt Umber it is a good idea to let it dry. Pthalo Blue is fine but very strong. Prussian blue as well. Ultramarine Blue is more transparent. And Cerulean Blue is weak and doest not show up in mixtures so much. But it is a personal thing. How the baroque painters did I don't know. They had to prepare their colors themselves mostly.
@@lustenhouwer thanks so much, I want to ask one more important thing, My painter friend told me that these should be on my palette, ✅ 8_Cadmium yellow pale Hue 2_burnt sienna 3_burnt umber 5_cadmium Red Hue 24_lvory black 40_Titanium white 21_ultramarine 44_yellow ochre 7_ cadmium yellow lemon 27_lightred 1_permanent Alizarin crimson 43_viridian Hue Are they very important?
Thank you very much! 💐💐 I have a question….did you stretched the paper first? (Water the paper, and after that stick the band on the edge. And 🙈 sorry, I think the pompon is a little to dark 🙈 🙈
Hello I’ve been watching your videos and learning from them for 2years now and I’d like to know if you can recommend me art books that you found helpful Please
Hello Sir, I bought one of your tutorials "Portrait of a Little Girl" more than a year ago. I'm trying to buy another tutorial "Portrait of a Little Boy". But the transaction is getting declined again and again. I have used my cards and my family member's cards but nothing is working and I'm getting same error. Please provide some other way to buy it. I have also communicated with the support and have done everything they suggested, still no success. Please help.
The beautifull portrait radiates life - just looking at it was such a joy. Your painting is real magic. Thank you so much for sharing the painting process. Its so inspiring in every possible Way 🙏🌷🩷
