This is outstanding, I'm a student of oil paints but I have used egg tempera and I've never seen it used in such a beautiful way. I have also painted a section of Venus, and after watching this I'm inspired to crop it to just the portrait section so I can work in more detail on the head area. Thanks so much for this excellent demonstration.

I've always wanted to paint this but it's good to wait and be more informed. After painting icons with acrylic paint I understand that egg tempura really is necessary, so as soon as I make some I'm going to attempt this portrait.

This is a very good tutorial and i thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. You are the first painter on youtube to actually paint Venus so fucking good. I also wouldve loved if you told us what colors you combined to get the skin tone, hair etc..i just tried to do this but not knowing what to combine ended up in being a mess..

this is a beautiful video and i feel so lucky to have found it! do you think i can do the same layering with gouache paints? they are more watery than acrylic, so i wasn't sure if it's better to start with brighter colors and move darker (as opposed to going from darker to lighter like you did)

Beautiful work....💚💚💚 I would love to know what tracing technique yuu use ? Is it some form of home made transfer paper , using printing ink on back of paper ? The dark spots on each image, the smudges of colour ......this is from leaning on paper too hard. Have you ever used projectors ? I used to teach all my adult students various tracing and transfer techniques . .....its not really cheating , as they can still show drawing skills in sketchbooks. It's a way to take short cuts, so that you can focus on painting/ shading. All professional artists do the same. Have you got any episodes based solely on tracing? Ps ....love love your mahl stick...... ...........very original 💚💚💚
