Great video, I have a cabinet painting business in Florida and find painting with door rack painter and their system is awesome. I have 4 racks of 18. Can set up in a small space also, You spray flat both sides and dry flat.

I’ve put in a lot of time trying to outsource painting, I have a 100% failure rate on finding a painter that will show up let alone let my work shine. I mainly do finish carpentry and built in furniture and shelving. I used to do a lot of painting and cabinets were a big seller. Wish I had access to this kind of info long ago. Since I can’t get away from painting, I’ll jump in both feet an do it as efficiently as possible. That surface prep sander looks like a huge time saver. I have a pop up that I set up as a mobile booth and I use home made air scrubbers for flow.since I don’t do it enough I use my little earlex and my old faithful titan 440 for the bigger projects. lots of good info. I hate repaints with everything in my soul but you have some good tips. I was taught 25 years ago to let off the trigger as you leave the product then start right before the next line. Your technique is interesting. I guess there is more than one way to skin a cat! How do you deal with overspray on underside of the door when you spray the top? When using a blower to remove dust I also use my hand or brush to break static electricity and more efficiently remove dust.

Hi everyone at paint life I had a question for ya’ll. I’m going to paint my kitchen cabinets with hplv sprayer . Currently the cabinets have white latex paint. I want to spray them with white laquer, what do you recommend I use for the primer? What laquer do you recommend for topcoat? I do have a Sherwin Williams paint store near me not sure if that helps? Last question I did hear laquer turns yellow overtime is that true? What can help to prevent that?

Another way to look at how to drill the holes is pretty much always drill the holes opposite of the pull holes

Hangers is 100% better, everyone can make it, hangers and rack. Durable and stable. And what I know as a carpenter, that technic is been since my Gran Gran Gran pa was a live. The gravity gun it is the best way to paint any tipe of doors using paint, stain or varnish.

While I don't spray a lot of cabinets, I have sprayed hundreds of 2500+ sq ft new construction millpacks with 20-30 doors, a mantle, wainscoting etc in my 25 yrs with my graco 695 and a 411 tip. I've tried hvlp sprayers before, way too slow for me and no noticeable difference in finish. I three coat it all with proclassic water based in a day

How about over spraying bottom side of the door while spraying the top. Any solution for that please?

Hi Chris I watched your video sometimes and I'm curious on that Apollo HVLP system that you have does the mechanisms of a atomizing in the gun move on you while you're spraying after a while I have an old accuspray it was wonderful the only bad thing about it is that they just stopped selling parts for it and I'm thinking of buying a new system I tried the Graco and Titan I didn't like it cuz the mechanism will keep moving on me while I'm spraying

I just watched one of your videos about painting kichen cabinets and I have some questions. I was a viction of the ice freeze in Texas last February and it ruined my kitchen cabinets but they were already in pretty bad shape. Old stained, laquered with floating panels that had probably hadn't been cleaned in 50 years old! But when my ceiling collapsed and the nasty water came in, it went through my cabinets and molded inside and out. I was going to hire my son to clean, prime and paint the ceilings, walls and cabinets in the kitchen and the walls, ceilings, paneling and baseboards in the breakfast room and the ceilings, paneling, trim, doors and basebords in the family room that is quite large. But when I saw his estimate, I knew he was quite low on the family room and really missed it on the cabinets. I haven't counted the drawers and doors but what should I add to it for the condion?

I was told I needed to get all the lacquer finish off before aqua coat or the paint/primer will peel off later down the road? I see you just lightly sanded and that was all. What’s the answer? Not taking all the lacquer off will save me hours and hours. Please help with this question. I can’t get a straight answer from anyone

In another one you said you only use hplp because airless uses too much product etc etc and in this one I feel like I see you using airless

Okay. I bought some aqua coat per TIP's recommendation. The one thing it does not do, not even remotely, is sand VERY VERY EASY! It actually be the least sandable so called sandable product that i have ever used. Its harder to sand than MH ready patch, 5 minute drywall mud, and maybe even bondo. My idea of very very easy to sand would be something like green dot drywall topping. As for the feeling of it after 2 coats, I wouldn't call it glassy, as this dude calls it after one coat. I can still feel bumps and humps of the wood grain. Now sure, I cant feel the small holes, but it aint glassy. So what's the deal? Will the paint even everything out?

Do you need to apply aquacoat to a wood like maple or hickory?

The amount of labor involved to clean, sand, fill, prime, sand again, paint (2 coats), and the waiting time between steps... I just can't imagine this will be cheaper (to hire someone like you) versus buying new doors. Can you give me an idea what the general "going rate" is per cabinet door for refinishing? I am spraying my own doors, and I have 30 of them. It's a daunting task but getting great results with both HVLP and airless. But it can be overwhelming when you realize you have to touch 30 cabinet doors 4 to 6 times each.

With all do respect . The timings you describe couldn't be correct. We are professional cabinet painters, and it takes two people, one day to take down doors, drawers, mark them, degrees, clean, sand, clean them. And one day to cover everything , maybe start priming that day. And third day sand, clean, and spray two coats of top coat. And fourth day, installing the doors and drawers, and of course cleaning the mess we created before. This is four days work, no matter how go by this projects. Of course, if you know what you are doing. And that is if the cabinets don't need repairing or getting them to get smooth for a glassy finish.

Hello, I'm a big fan of your painting and also your physique. I was curious how you stay in shape, is it a combination of working out and painting, or does painting give you all the exercise you need? I see you were punching an ox's testicle at the beginning and believe that may be a good workout as well. I enjoy painting but do not get body like yours, I may start punching different animal testicles as well to improve. Thank you for shining god's light on us all with these videos.

Just get yourself a good purdy Chinese hog whistle brush, and use emerald Sherwin-Williams it's a hybrid alkyd enamel urethane it's designed for brush application and will not leave any brush marks it also has a hardness factor of 5 on a hardness scale and highly durable, if you insist on spraying and not bending your wrist and spraying properly you might as well forget all that equipment it won't do you any good

The only issue I have is drilling holes in doors.
