How To Paint Furniture With Chalk Paint

In this video I show you how to paint furniture using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
It is such an easy thing to do and I want to give you the confidence to try it out for yourselves if you've felt nervous or apprehensive about trying to paint a piece of furniture.
I did plan to show you how I re-cover the chair in this video with a new fabric, however the fabric that I ordered online didn't arrive in time. Next week when I have re-covered the chair I will share the finished result on my Instagram (links below) so be sure to look out for it.

I have to mention that the darkest color goes on first then the medium, then the highlight, white in this case, LAST. So in other words, first the darkest color, progressively going from dark to light. Then some will hit the highest areas with a metallic. This is how to get DEPTH as would happen in real life. Still you managed to a great result, congrats. Like others, I would love to see this chair upholstered or the final result. Don't despair this chair in particular happens to be an extremely hard piece to upholster even though it is small. It's the same thing with wallpapering a bathroom. It is harder to do a bathroom, than an entire living room due to all the small details to work around. Loved the vid. You were brave to tackle it and it DOES look loverly.

Another wonderful video !!! I tried to recover a chair, it didn't turn out to well the first time I tried it. I did recover the seat cushions on my kitchen chairs and I love the way they turned out ! Where I live, every pub, wine bar and drinking establishment, the frontages’ are painted grey. So when Nicolas announced he was going to paint the chair grey - my heart sank. But when I saw the final result -wow! It looked great!

I love painting furniture or buying things from charity shops and spray painting them. I recently bought a pair of wooden bookends which were horses heads and spray painted them in a Matt gold. They look stunning. Loved your video your furniture always looks wonderful. Thank you.

Did a fabulous job on the chair. I am new to your channel from the United States, a grandmother actually; in one of your video’s you mentioned you had acquired the taste of antiques from your grandmother. My granddaughters and I are very close and one of them has the same taste as I do we call it farmhouse chic in United States. And I love one of the comment you made in your videos about just having a collection with you or items that you bought over the years instead of just going to store and buying what you want ( paraphrasing you) God bless you on all your endeavors!

I have good experience painting my furniture with the kind of paint you start painting your walls with to make the real paint attach better. Ironically it doesn't attach super well which means it wears down here and there quite quickly and look like a really good antique effect! Just make sure to paint a nice complimentary colour underneath. Plain wood looks good too if it's not too clean and IKEA looking.

Hi Nicolas . Your furniture painting techniques are very helpful and loved the finished look . I've always been afraid to start painting wood furniture in case it does not turn out the way you imagined it . I have a similar settee my parents gave me (both have passed away) & 2 French arm chairs in darker wood . Definitely have more confidence after watching your vlog . God bless . Mark (Toronto)

Thanks for showing this. I recently found a small round kitchen table and four ladder back chairs that has been chalk painted but not well. I finally found a location here that has the paint so I feel better now that I may just be able to fix it! My biggest complaint was how dull it looks so you’ve answered the reason for that! The fact you did all that without making a mess of yourself in the process is a testimony to tidy ness. Lol I get paint everywhere😜

Would it be possible to learn more about your and neighbors dogs i.e. names, breed types, why selected, care of them, some Edinburgh information, holiday traditions/decorations/memories and what makes for a truly spirited Holiday for you etc.? Any hobbies you like etc. Mostly,, wishing you All the very best to you/neighbor....take good care. P.S. Thx for reading this long-winded message

I waxed afterwards, then upholstered my chairs in a Darker blue And white check, and My Kitchen Blinds in a Toile similar blue and white, My kitchen looks very pretty! Wow it’s looking really stunning!
