I’ve recently done a desaturated green. Deathworld forest, shade with mixed in to pure Castellan green, highlight mixing screaming skull into Deathworld. Bits of shading with A greeny blue and Reds here and there Super quick scheme
So hyped to finally get to see some green skin on the channel! Waiting for you to paint up a Stompa now 😉😂 I drybrush my Ork skin so a bit different to these three methods but I quite like the idea of putting a bit of purple in the recesses so will try to incorporate this into my method from now on.
I imagine we can achieve something nice too with drybrushing ? I'm back at painting since 15 years and i'm thinking doing this pattern : base, shade then multiple highlights with drybrushing. Keep going on !
Absolutely man, just got to use the smaller brushes and take care to not build up texture unnecessarily (avoid matte paints in the starting steps) Those steps are great, you can shift/repeat the shade too to knock back the drybrushing, just make sure it's diluted/thin enough to not obscure your hard work :)
Probably out of the 3 my favourite is the 2nd only being that the bright highlights really help me to identify all the small and easily missed details. Im only capabale of painting the 1st but would love to see an almost sepia tone skin being done. As always love the content!
That final one was fantastic! Deff can see a difference with the work you put in. Maybe just for special heroes~ Solid stuff my dude, 15 min one for tabletop is the way to go. Much love for all you do!
Great results byron. I liked the 15 min version personally, that wash really adds depth. Plus unless your painting a single mini like for a competition your gonna want to keep that time down if your painting an entire army. 👍🏻
Thanks Byron, brilliant as always. Number 3 is the one for me, I really preferred the look of the layering, however number 2 was amazing for 15 minutes work. My last orks a squad of 6 took about 60 hours 😆🤣
DATS MA BOI!! Been wating for this video since the Rogue Idol and the bone tutorial, now my bonesplitterz gonna look awasome. Also mention the chipping tutorial that warchanter was so sick and cool would be cool to see the arrmour tutorial hehehehe. Again thanks for the video and keep it up.
This was great to see and I don't just mean you struggling with the Eavy Metal style in the exact same way i do. I painted the Kommando kill team recently quite early into my recent attempts at painting and without watching any guides managed to find a very similar way of doing things to you here except in reverse. I also add some yellowing at the root of the teeth because let's face it Orks don't go to the dentist!
Awesome !! Three way tehcnique is a masterwork. It shows people that there's not only one way to achive your goal :) And yes you are right Darren Latham is a paint genius. I don't know how olg is your magazine but the tehcniques he shows inside are still accurate and it's phenomenal since evertyhing changed so much in the last years in the miniature painting world. Can'T wait for the undead skin tutorial :D
Honestly the 15 minute one is my favorite. The teeth are far too white for my liking though, these guys have better dentists than I do and I'm not an orc.
Great job. I have the bad habit of always painting my army to the extreme level I am capable to do lol. So the last one was my favourite and loved the job you did. I find it difficult to match paints to some of the older ones or different brands at times.
@@ArtisOpus aha yeah, I’ve been tempted to submit something for your feedback videos, mostly to see what you think of my custom Necron dynasty colour and basing method, but there are so many great pieces in those videos I just don’t feel like mine is good enough yet lol
Nice one! All three look pretty damn good in their own way, and you could use say the first one for troops, the second for elites and the third for a hq, that would look ace, I'm thinking of going for a mouldy look my own orks though so might try this with more drab greens and blues/greys
Hello, great video as always! Three methods vides are the best, videos for novice to advanced painters, from speed painting to meticulously time consuming masterclass techniques...Where can I get the 'EAVY METAL MASTERCLASS book? I just did a quick google search and I was not able to find it, could you please provide a link for it? Thank you very much!
Hey dude, thanks very much! It's no longer printed, as mentioned in the video it's actually outdated now, the colours used are no longer made, etc. I don't think your google was very thorough ;) 2nd link is eBay, where there are several! Unfortunately they are 5x what I bought mine for 10 years ago, which is a lot, I don't think it'd lose value if you bought one though, it's a special book :)!
@@ArtisOpus hey, yeah indeed, I made a more thorough search and I found it in ebay...I think I might get it, or even try to find some pdf version ...I also found a conversion table for old and new GW paints, but even if they dont match, the technique is valuable...I can expirement with other colours on those same techniques ;)
my first time trying this, and some of the transitions are a little chalky like you describe.. what are the ways i can fix that without stripping the model? thx
You can always try using a wash over it to glaze it (you can mix in a little of the previous colour, to pull the brightness down) :) Let us know how it goes in another comment
Was that book a one off or a regular type of book GW put out? Never seen it before. I don't have Orks... I don't have any plans to acquire Orks... But if i somehow get some, I'm coming back here for inspiration ;)
Thanks for the reply. I did think that about the highlights, particularly watching you paint with the third method, I thought “could just stop there and it would be perfect!” - I asked the question party way through the video (after the first method).
I always feel like most painters ork skin is too dark for my taste...I always do a bright yellow base coat, covered with 3ish layers of a green ink to create a super bright, almost cartoony, green skin
When I first learned to paint for commissions and GW has first introduced their washes I used to wash Thraka green 3 times over a moot green base, it actually looks pretty great😊
It's like you've read my mind! I've just bought a bunch of goblins! I'll be trying these out, thanks :) There's a lot of medium use lately, what's the purpose of it exactly? Maybe I missed that bit..
Hi! I know it’s an older vides but still hoping you’ll be able reply. Love the different ways to paint Ork flesh, will really help me with my blood bowl team and underworlds warband. My question is, how do you keep your paints so wet for such a long time? I’ve got a wet pallet and my paints still seem to dry out within 5 mins. I find this makes it very difficult to even think about blending let alone giving it a go. Any help would be much appreciated Cheers!
Hey dude, are you from somwhere warmer than the UK? I'm a fairly fast worker, but the climate helps! Just not in the last week :| Let me know in another vid dude, YT is awful for ongoing conversation notifications!
