HOW TO PAINT HEAT SCORCHED METAL

In this video I show you 2 different ways to paint a Heat Scorched metal effect on some Jet Engines using either an Airbrush or a Drybrush.
Paints used:
● Vallejo Metal Color Exhaust Manifold
● Vallejo Metal Color Silver
● Vallejo Metal Color Gold
● Vallejo Game Ink Violet
● Vallejo Game Ink Blue
● Citadel Necron Compound

Amazing work. You make it look all so easy and I know it's not. I am 60 yrs old a kid at heart and haven't built a model since I was about 16 yrs old. I have always been very creative and am looking for a fun hobby again. I need a happy place :)

Great tutorial, the dryrbushed one looks great, awesome for us who dont have an airbrush! Just a question, if you are aiming for full coverage with the first layer, why do you need to dry brush it on? Thanks

It creates a smooth blend really easily and is faster to apply.

By far one of the best and most in-depth video on heat scorch/exhaust burns! Simple yet easy to follow. Was able to use the hand brush technique on a blaster I’m currently working on and it game out great because of you. Thank you!

Beautiful job both ways. I've been doing this sometimes with my blaster customs. Mostly dry brushing. Haven't had time to work more with my air brush.

I just use a bit of Reikland FleshShade and Druchii Violet. It's far more subtle, but I find it suits the dull, gritty look of war machines. For bigger models I use Dark Blue (which is quite transparent) and Metallic Brown spray paint.

Excellent tips, thanks. I think dry brushing allows for a more subtle effect if that's what your looking for. I'm going to experiment with a final coat of transparent smoke to help blend the layers together.
