Yes please, more line and wash! Love the painting. In Charleston, SC there is a similar row of brightly colored buildings that they call "Rainbow Row".

Love this Paul. I was born in Newfoundland and my grandparents lived in a similar colorful house in St. John’s. The people are as colorful and wonderful as the painting.🤗

I don't know about everyone else but I'm quite fond of it. It's like that old smelly blanket I had as a kid(still have it) .... All warm and comforting🤣. Had to catch my breath after my line & Wash dance! Now I gave this painting a go (even drew it) and luckily wobbly crooked lines are my normal so if I was still in grade school...... Solid "C". Keep em coming! Oh and the Facebook page is awesome! Your teaching is brilliant!

I was so excited while watching our nightly Acorn channel shows (mostly British, Canadian, Australian, NZ and Scandinavian shows). Acorn and watercolor painting have saved my sanity and our marriage during the pandemic. We were streaming Republic of Doyle, a Canadian show set in (wait for it)....St John's Newfoundland. All of a sudden the houses in this tutorial were on the screen. I screamed just a tiny bit. Would like to see more line and wash, too. This was such a fun one. Thank you, Paul.

I tried them out on my little people and little dogs. Hard to believe something so simple is not so simple. I loved this one! I tend to be a bit too precise and need to loosen up a bit when I paint. I appreciated hearing your tip to make the lines a bit wobbly. I would love to see some line and wash, maybe with less details. I’m don’t feel quite up to this level yet. Thank you!

The second reason I enjoyed this video is that I live in St. John’s, Newfoundland & was so happy you chose the jelly bean houses to paint. These houses all exist in the older part of St. John’s downtown area. St. John’s is a beautiful place & Newfoundland & Labrador is a beautiful province with breathtaking scenery for painters. I was rewatching your video on the poppy fields. During the introduction you said not to keep your tea next to your water... I've done that, lots of times. But I wanted to tell you about my father... he was a professional commrrcial artist working in my hometown, Hollywood. (Really😁) He enjoyed a beer while painting (While driving, while eating, while sleeping... you get my drift.) Mostly he worked in oils, and kept his big container of turpentine next to his drawing board. So he cleaned his brushes in the turp while painting. And sure enough, he reached over for a sip of beer and chugged down a big mouthful of dirty turpentine. He spent the next hour, um, getting it out of his system. So just be glad we all work in watercolors here. LOL!

This is one of my favourite RU-vid videos. I watch it over and again, and I watch it if I need to feel more jolly. It also inspires me to use whatever colours I like in my own work. I like bright colours straight out of the tube, even the infamous greens. I did miss Margo though. She surely belongs here in the brightness of these houses.

Paul, Paul, Paul.... you read my mind!!!!!!! I was just on Google trying to refresh my memory of my childhood home. I was trying out perspective which I learned from a previous video of yours. It was a little tricky at parts but overall gratifying trying it for the first time. This lesson has provided me a few more important pointers about shading and definition. I really like line & wash! Wish I was able to participate in your Facebook group, but I avoid all social media. RU-vid is my only indulgence. Thank you for your videos! It has made lockdown bearable!!!

Good morning, Paul, from beautiful St. John's, Newfoundland (pronounced like Understand....Understand Newfoundland) Great job on our Jellybean Houses! I love the vibrant colours of these houses. Like most of the UK, we have many grey rainy days, which really make the the bright colours pop! I quite enjoy your tutorials and will be sure to give this one a go.

After trying several different techniques in watercolor, I find that I enjoy line and wash the most. Perhaps because there is more control in what is painted. I totally enjoyed your Jelly Bean Row House . Thanks for taking the time and for your creative energy.

Really super happy looking painting. Makes me smile. Although I haven’t officially started painting - mostly practicing for now while I wait for the snail(mail) to make it across the flypaper with your book and brushes, I did try doing one of a photo my husband took of the visitor’s centre in Tucson, Arizona. Every wall on the outside of the building is painted a different bright Southwest colour. If I can figure out how to do it, I’ll post a photo on the Facebook page. Thanks for the beautiful line and wash. Also, thanks to Margot for setting up the Facebook group. A very encouraging bunch of folks that I’m grateful to be able to compare notes and paintings with. I am going to enjoy doing this painting. I really LOVE that you include the sketches as I am struggling with getting that part right very often and therefore I never actually get around to painting (and finishing) the project. I admit I feel like I am 'cheating' but seem the only way, for the moment, that I can get going. Maybe 'one day' I will be able to free sketch buildings but not so far and at my age I don't have a lot of time to waste. Thank you for all this lovely work and instruction!
