How to Paint Intuitive Figures From A Messy, Mixed-Media Background with Patt Scrivener

Join mixed-media artist Patt Scrivener as she shares her intuitive painting process and shows us how she pulls out images from a messy, mixed-media background. Patt's background is completely intuitive and random with no particular outcome in mind before she starts. She will then pull a photo of the background canvas into an app where she can draw over top and try out different images she sees in the marks and colors of the background. Then using chalk she will transfer the image she chooses to her canvas and begin the process of pulling out the image. Using negative painting and different brushes and tools she paints in and around and over top of the figures, bringing them forward by pulling out and painting in the details. The goal is to allow some of the background to peek through while unifying the main image. A wonderfully inspirational intuitive artistic process.
