Love seeing a good leather tutorial. I half expected to only watch part way through and get bored, but I watched the whole thing. It was very well done, thank you!
terracotta is a good alternative to xv 88 for those who didn't know this citadel brown. Love this tutorial btw - thank you. copied then did my version, love your style of teaching too. must have watched this 15-20 times. maybe one day i can be produce something half as good as this.
The leve of detail here with such simple (simple in application not simple with brush control) is just outstanding. Amazing footage and brilliant guide.
Knocked it out the park! I'm actually looking forward to trying the next mini with alot of leather seeing this. Thank you for the great content as always!🤘🏻
Second time I've watched this. This time I've taken notes and have models to try this out on. If I can get it looking half as good as yours I'll be happy.
@@TheFeralPainter I've got six ogres who are going to have leather pants, boots, and any other bits I can do. I've also got a few Stormcasts who aren't going to be very lore compliant when I've finished with them!
I love painting leather and this has only given me more help and inspiration as always. Cheers man. Also would love to see you do some daemons in the future, maybe slaanesh or tzeentch grimdark I think you'd nail it
Finally someone has the skillz to make a comprehensive how-to-leather-cloaks video. Underrated channel for sure. But as i've sad to other, similar, small channels: "Some of the best mini-hobby channels i've found rarely have over 10K subs. They are the hidden gold veins for those who know where to dig".
Thanks so so much man! Really means alot saying that! Thanks so so much! But yes some of the smaller channels defiantly dont get the traction they deserve
First time catching one of your videos great tutorial, also I have never seen anyone use their middle finger to make the sweeping motion. That was a great tip!
Hey, Awesome video. I really like the effect. I started to experiment on my AoS Uruks wearing leather. I'll probably start trying something like that. The visual in the end is great.
Been watching many of your video's. All great! You can't beat a bit of Grimdark! This one is, Beautiful leather! And thanks. You should have more sub's. Hope you get to the halfway mark soon, and then will be quicker to the magic 100,000 👍. Ps. Enjoy the coffee, on me. Or put towards something.
Perfect timing! I'm a big fan of the grimdark style and just got to the point where I need to paint up the leather bits. Thanks for all the tips! Just curious but what colors would you use to create weathering on black leather? Blues and greys maybe?
I've always struggled painting leather... Saw an old masterclass article in an Inquisitor 'Exterminatus' supplement recently that showed how to paint leather by using washing up liquid to break the surface tension of glazes for real looking leather. Really interested to see what you do, as it'd great to have different methods for such things.
Amazing tutorial as always! Leather is a very difficult material to paint for me so this is super helpful! Also, quick question. What mini do you use in this tutorial? The cape looks really cool!
First layer: Hey, that actually already looks like leather. 2nd layer: Oh wow, now it is so leathery. 3rd layer: My god, this is magic. 4th layer: OMG wtf how did I fuck that up so hard??? (that´s just me, I guess. Awesome tutorial, nice channel, subbed :) )
What advice can you give if my END GOAL is what you had on the interior? I want my finalized cape to look like your inside looked at 1:48, very dark with a smaller inference of the brown… did you do the inside of your cape in alternative steps or anything?
@@TheFeralPainter can’t wait to try. My models are dark brown/black in their ceramite so I can’t go too close to the full brown effect otherwise it gets very close to matching the armor color, but still wanted it to be clear it’s “brown” leather, so that tone inside your cape is PERFECTION. Thank you for this!
@@TheFeralPainter so to clarify something like doing a couple passes of mournfang and NOT going up to xv88 and then doing the mournfang glazing and rhinox glazing steps?
