I’ve been painting and everything else in customizing shoes for some years now using a airbrush gun and I’m shocked at how much of the process looks extremely similar. I just bought a good car for dirt cheap I’m going to give painting it a try. Pretty sure I can do a good job

Hello arpin, What a great video you have for explaining the flakes. Whe are in holland and want to paint a boat with purle white flakes! There is a example on youtube and the video named metal flake from reyes carrillo. And he has the colour and the type of flake that we want to put on the boat. I hope if you can help me giving me the info of what kind of flake he is using. I appreciate it if you could help me te explain the proces to reach this example of colour. You would be a great help for us.
Any worries about over-spray causing a gritty texture with the Hot Rod sparkle - when used in an airbrush? I struggle with Auto Air Candy H2O paints with the airbrush as well?
4501 Hot Rod sparkle White is applied with a 1.3mm tip-sized spray-gun in the video as this will lay-down the 4501 pearl-flake with the most material per coat, resulting in the most even coating for this particular color. 4501 is a pearl-flake, and will have texture that must be covered over with a clear that can bridge-over the pearl flake if a smooth final finish is desired. With an airbrush, even a 0.5mm or larger tip-size will struggle with tip-dry and flow, and it will be applied with less material per coat resulting in more texture and requiring more clear to bridge over. 4501 is the coarsest pearl white out of all the whites in the video. If looking for a pearl or metallic white that flow and atomize at lower psi settings for an airbrush, use 4330 Metallic White Fine or 4301 Pearl White. If desiring to apply 4501 HRS White to its flattest, most level potential, a spray-gun is best as the coating will benefit from the greater amounts of material a s[ray-gun offers during application. The hood is powder-coated, aluminum, which was scuffed with a grey pad (~ 600 grit) before AutoBorne 6001 Sealer White was applied. AutoBorne Sealer is excellent direct to aluminum. Thank you.
These might look good on a sword I'm making for a costume. Do you know if these paints work well on thermoplastics? My sword will be covered with Worbla. Thank you! I also have your candied gold for another project.
Createx paints adhere to a wide range of plastics, for which AutoBorne 6000 Transparent Sealer is recommended as the adhesion promoter applied direct to the plastic before paint. For thermal plastics, sand the surface, clean, then flame treat, and apply the 6000 within the first 20 minutes after the flame treatment. Thank you.
Hello. 4011 Reducer, first introduced in 2003, is slower (less aggressive) compared with 4012 Reducer, introduced in 2008. 4011 works better with our candy2o, and urethane resin products such as 4030 Balancing Clear and new UVLS Clears. 4012 works well in more humid areas, and we'll continue to make it as long as regulations permit, to which 4012's solvent-alcohol, 2-Butoxy Ethanol, was classified as a level 3 health risk, whereas 4011 is a level 2. We'll keep 4012 available "off catalog" for subjective artist & airbrush preferences, and for assisting drying in humid conditions where 4011 & 4012 mixed 1:1 works well. more so with airbrush application. 4050 can be used as a replacement to 4030, something we've been testing and like the results so far. We're using the same mix ratio with 4050 as 4030, that is paint 3:1 4050, then more 4011 Reducer is used to thin the 4050 paint mix compared to 4030, ~ 15% per volume with 4011 Reducer. 4012 is not recommended with 4050. Hot Rod Sparkle White is a transparent, pearl-flake. It can be applied over a base color (or mixed with a base color) as well as used for graphics over a base color. Hot Rod Sparkle White is versatile pearl-flake which color-keys with any color. Thank you.
Yes, all Createx paints are inter-mixable. Hot Rod Sparkle colors are pearl-flakes in a transparent base which mix well with other colors, including pearlized colors; applying a mid-coat of candy2o, for ex. 4666 Tealiscous, over a pearlized-Hot Rod Sparkle color works well. Thank you.
I have questions for the metallic white fine. Can you spray the metallic white fine over conventional 2k primers or do i need your primers? Can you spray a ghost pearl midcoat over it? Can your top coats be ceramic coated?
Yes, Createx paints can be applied over a solvent-based primer or paint. Adhesion and orientation is excellent over our AutoBorne Sealer, however if the white, 2k primer is sanded flat with 800-grit, the Metallic White + 4050 mix should lay down flat with an even orientation. In regard to a ghost mid-coat; extend the Metallic White with a clear such as 4050, 4030 Balancing Clear, or 6000 AutoBorne Transparent Sealer; its important to apply a medium coat direct to the 2k primer, not a dry-sprayed light coat. Hi-Lite interference Colors are recommended for pearlescent, ghosted colors, autoaircolors.com/pearl-and-metallic-colors/flakes-colors/4424.html. In regard to a ceramic coat, we've not yet applied one over UVLS Clears. If doing so, a test panel should be allowed a few days to determine compatibility, however it should work. Thank you.

No, a surfacer / high-build primer is what's sanded flat prior to sealer. AutoBorne Sealer can be sanded flat, but at this point that should be for minor surface imperfections, not creating a level surface over which to paint. Thank you.

4040 Bleed Checker is a specialty clear recommended only as a protective barrier over candy2o, it does not otherwise mix well with Createx paints. What does mix well with Metallic White and other Createx paints is 4050 UVLS Gloss Clear, createxcolors.com/scenix-mural-theme-paint/uvls-clears/4050.html. Try mixing Createx paint 3:1 4050 Gloss Clear, then thin 5% - 10% per volume with 4011 Reducer. Thank you.
I can only get 144 or 360 for video quality. I can't tell the difference with this low video quality. I'm doing a white pearl on a detail white for a welding hood.
