I love your joke about the first 20 days in January. I laughed out loud because I'm a beginner and automatically tuned to seriousness in watching water color tutorials.
OMG! I love his humour! And he delivers it so well. Good comedic timing and acting. I just found Paul this week and I think he’s going to change my life! 💙💙 Excellent teaching, speaking, gosh everything. Sorry for commenting all this on you!! 😊
You are so welcome Bonnie! - skies and seas my two favourite things to paint ... oh, and trees, .... and reflections .. and landscapes ... and flowers.... I'll stop now.
Completely agree with those who commented on Paul's droll humor! I love the well paced and clear explanations throughout (many painting tutorials have no talking at all). These lessons are super!
I continue to be impressed and heartened by how approachable your techniques are, how repeatable your instructions/demos are. It's a gift you give us with each of the short sessions you publish. Thank you for de-mystifying some of the harder parts of watercolour painting.
You’ve just made me feel so much better ! As a beginner with watercolour and being used to acrylics I literally had no idea of how to paint sky and clouds . Thank you so much 🎉
Paul, as a professor myself (and having had many, many teachers on my way there) I have ALWAYS found that the finest teachers employ a good sense of humor with the teaching. It never fails to relax the student and opens up so much for them. I thought I might have to use my inhaler after the 20 days of January thing; for 1/2 second I was actually trying to observe! Then bang! Great comedy. Thanks, as always. J
Thant's a great comment, thanks J - I think it goes way back to my old history teacher, who everyone loved. He would dress up and suddenly apear behind the desk in things like a Roman helmet and then follow on in an Italian accent! Learned lots and still love history ... probably down to him!
Thank you Paul, I have been watching a lot of watercolor tutorials these days, your videos are my favorite!!! They are so helpful! Although they look much easier than when I actually tried, my paintings did improved a lot through following your guidance. Thank you so much for being an awesome teacher!
I just love the beautiful big skies and beautiful big skies is what I’ve just watched. Paul, you’re a true craftsman at creating them! Truly amazing to watch them come to life before my eyes. Thank you for the beautiful lesson. I’m now to dedicate a study book to skies, nothing more!
Thanks for these tutorials! I wish to start painting more landscapes and seascapes. I cannot attend your lessons because I don't live in the UK but these tutorials will be my guide. Very well explained!
This tutorial is very helpful, I appreciate your techniques and way of teaching which is helping me a lot. I have a request can you give some tips on how to draw snow covered field or lake.
These are great mini-tutorials on painting skies; really enjoyed doing them. Appreciated seeing your paintings at the end using the different skies and techniques from the tutorials. Thanks Paul!
Thank you for being a wonderful teacher - I enjoy watching your videos and feel I learn so much - truly appreciate that you are online!! I have purchased one of your books, and your online lessons help to bolster those lessons as well.
I think you’re absolutely amazing! I took up painting when I retired and love to watch your work. So inspiring, that’s all I do in the evening, just watch your fabulous videos!! Soooo inspiring. Thank you very much for taking the time to create these videos. Very much appreciated. Pat Dixon from the East Midlands
Wow, wow, wow! I’ve been wasting my time. Should’ve been watching you from day 1! Seeing your paintings, and how easy you make it look, really inspires me! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Refreshed my technique as I'm getting ready to do an Arizona sunset sky. The mixture of yellow and red with the red/blue wisps is perfect for what I have in mind. Can't thank you enough for your calm demeanor and easy method. Really enjoy learning from you.
Absolutely gorgeous! Pretty skies, dancing skies, thundering skies and dusk skies...and as always, you make it seem effortless 😊 Nature and your nature flowing together...
Hi, thank you for the awesome video. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent and knowledge. Your lessons are wonderfully straightforward and easy to follow. And so much fun!
Hello! Just wanted to tell you how much I have been enjoying your lessons! I think you're giving me just the kind of food for thought I needed just now. I live in a place with a lot of amazing skies. I have been photographing them for a few years and can't wait to try some of these ideas. Hope you have a splendid New Year, Paul, all health and happiness!
Your watercolour tips are so helpful! I'm so glad I found your channel. Had the pleasure to visit the English countryside in the past few years and you guys have the most amazing views ever.
What a great variety and it looks like fun! Beautiful paintings at the end with interesting skies; thanks for sharing this helpful tutorial. In California we have a beautiful blue sky every day so this video offers some great ways to expand our horizons! Your classes bring a breath of fresh air every time viewed! 👌🎨
I’m so glad found your channel! Just changed from cellulose paper to real Arches 100% cotton. Found hard to learn new paper’s properties & last 4 skies turned into (even gradient) of two glaze so will try again & looking at sky each day great idea for practice!
Definitely the best teaching video I have seen in how to do watercolour skies. You've explained everything in good detail step by step. Brushes to use, wetting the paper, percentage of paint pigment, when to dry. Easy to follow. Keep up the good work. More videos please!
I’m watching in later July near the east coast of the US. I also love your paintings of winter! I love your skies and I appreciate your sharing of your art!
Favorite tutorials ever! Thank you Paul for being so inspiring. Great Teacher with perfect encouraging Teacher Voice. Your art works are soooo beautiful. Well, I need to practice now! I am absolute beginner. Gratitude for your tips and inspiration.
Hi Paul. Thank you for sharing your time teaching such absolutely beautiful watercoloring. During this most difficult time for most people, your sense of humor along with your obvious love of watercoloring helps many who are stuck inside.keep their sanity.
I have watched several sky tutorials. Yours is by far the best. I love the way your work always has a spontaneous look. I will work on this today as my stay at home project..😀
I was in UK for 3 weeks in April 2019 and the skies then were almost the same as your January skies :). Loved visiting your country and hope to visit again. Anyway thank you for your great videos. Learning lots from your generous teaching.
