My quick guide on how to paint a Sylvaneth Branchwych using mostly drybrushing. I use various ranges of paints in the video but have included a guide at the start to convert the colours into the Games Workshop Citadel range.

Maybe the first time i'm commenting on youtube after watching videos daily for years, hope it shows how thankfull I am for this video. I've been strugling to paint dryads (started painting few weeks ago) and both the explanation and the color scheme were awesome. Helped me tremendously. Thank you Terry. I looked at getting these alongside my normal artis opus brush purchase yesterday, will definately look into getting some soon. Probably to do some new Sylvaneth soon! I found the Eldritch was great neat in an airbrush. Great Video

Hello Terry, As someone looking to collect Sylvaneth, let me thank you for uploading this video. Having found 90% of other tutorials having a finished product that usually ends up very dark and muddy, finding this particular color pallet is one I find stimulating, a breath of fresh air and one I can't await to try. I do have a few questions though, if I may? I ask not to criticise but really more for my own understanding.... 1. At the beginning you start with Rhinox Hide with a dot of purple - is that using sunset purple you use later on and what ratio would you guestimate that to be? 2. When you apply Kalhari Orange, does that not overwrite/hide the Mournfang Brown applied i the step before? 3. Similar to 2, Would the Menoth White not completely overwrite/hide the small drybrush make with Khaki on the step before or has it been done that way to make the white "pop" more in that focused area ? Thank you!

1. At a guess 5:1 rhinox to purple. 2&3. When building up the drybrush layers you need to miss some the previous layer and keep it light so you dont completely cover the previous colour. The orange will show through the bone top layer. I was a bit heavy handed speed painting so its not so easy to see in the video.

So the brush is one of the new ArtisOpus Series-D drybrushes. They are not available to buy yet, but should be easy to get hold of once they go on general sale.

I still struggle with thinning GW paints for airbrushing, any thinner to paint recommendation? I find it varies wildly from paint to paint sadly.

So I use Tamiya Thinner X-20A for all my GW paints.Unfortunately there is no accurate method outside of experience with each colour. As you already mentioned some colours require different amounts of thinner. Obviously 'Base' colours will require more than the 'Layer' ones, but in each of these the amount does vary. You could use a drop ratio scale and write on the paint pot how much thinner is required for that colour for future use?
