Why Sub ? I'm all about painting miniatures for the epic battles of Warhammer 40k, and Kill Team, with a focus on lore-rich conversions and kitbashes. But that's not all - In the future I will delve into other realms like Star Wars Legion, Shatterpoint and Dungeons and Dragons. Whether you're looking for tips on how to paint Warhammer or achieve cool effects, or want to see techniques for bringing D&D figures to life, you'll find it all here!

I think I will try and make a video painting most...maybe all of Combat Patrol in the future. It's one way to force myself to actually paint the grey wall of shame.

I’m glad you went with the more radical/psychedelic color scheme for the tyranid; it definitely makes it stand out.

I was actually about to start painting up the bigger models with one of the others, but I'm glad I waited a bit longer. This, to me, strikes that perfect balance between ease of paint and standing out. This little Tyranid was sitting here for a week, and I couldn't stop thinking about painting up another one.😄

LOVE all your color schemes, man. They pop so much more than other pro level paint jobs I see. I've been struggling with getting Tyranid colors to a place that make me actually want to paint them and this 100% got me over that hump! Thanks!

Thank you so much! Yeah I'm a bit fan of seeing a mini pop off the table...visually. I will say, I do struggle with some of those more nuanced color schemes some pros make. That's amazing to hear, time for more painted tyranids!

I like what you said about the variation of colours on organic models. I paint my gaunts in batches of 2-4 so I always get slight differences in their colours. When they are all on the table together they look really cool. I like your colour scheme, how long did it take to paint that mini?
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures 2 месяца назад
Exactly, and cheers mate! I think in total it was just under two hours.

Love this color scheme. How you done any of the larger models? Im thinking of making something inspired by this, but not sure how to color in large bioweapons for the tyranifex or exocrine. Love to see inspirational images or a movie on this!
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures 3 месяца назад
Thank you! Unfortunately, I've been busy with other projects, so I haven't had the time to get started on the bigger ones yet. For the bioweapons, I would probably color them in the same way as here; alternatively, a lime energy color would also work really well, especially for some Tyranids that match that theme. Alternative color for the exocrine weapon could be a rubber black with a bit of faint blue highlights. In the future I definitely hope to make a video on some of the bigger Tyranids.

Is there any gw paints you could suggest as a substitute for the paints you have listed that would potentially return a similar paint scheme? Thanks Ps looks absolutely awesome and video looks easy to follow
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures 6 месяцев назад
Thank you! There definitely should be, unfortunately I'm not too familiar with GW paints to know their counterparts. I think there used to be an online tool listing the similar colors, however it's been years since I've come across it. Alternatively If there's a local hobby store near you, you could compare the colors in person, to find a similar match.

been debating on painting my first army of tyranids. Thinking some sort of tiger color combo or something to make them look toxic. What's your opinion on it?
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures 6 месяцев назад
Above all else, make sure it's something that you'll enjoy painting on both small and big models. I had a scheme a while ago that was mostly contrast paints, it was tons of fun on small dudes but the moment I had to paint a bigger tyranid it was literal hell. For a tiger inspired, you could go the way of starship troopers tiger bug, and then add some very bright blue hued green to give them a toxic effect on their eyes and weapons.

Hey what basecoat did you use after the primer. If anyone could tell me that'd be Nova.
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures Месяц назад
That was Vallejo Hexed Lichen, in the end I realized that thinned Royal Purple had the same effect and the step was unnecessary for the most part. The one in the tyranid short was the Liquitex paint.

I love this paint job. What colors would you suggest if i am to avoid mixing colors for consistency sake? Should be around 10 colors/nuances.
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures 3 месяца назад
Thanks, mate. Personally, I have no idea; one of the main reasons I enjoy mixing colors is that it eliminates the need to choose the correct shades. Many colors appear to be of a certain hue, but when applied next to a similar one, it becomes evident that the shade differs in hue.

@@AnotherDayMiniaturesI am huge Starcraft fan. I tried at least 10 variations of Tyranid colour schemes and every time i use any variation of purple/pink for the skin , it never looks organic and realistic. Your colours on the other hand are perfect combo that really works the best if you want to recreate Zerg look. I am looking forward to see you paint whole set of Tyranids with it. ❤️

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm not interested in computer games at all and therefore never had anything to do with Starcraft or similar...but I just don't like these colourful "fairyland" Tyranids...! That's not to take anything away from the excellent painting technique, but I wish there were more "dark" and menacing looking models to be seen...I mean, we're dealing with ferocious beasts here that have nothing else in mind but to eat and kill!
@AnotherDayMiniatures
@AnotherDayMiniatures 6 месяцев назад
Yeah it's absolutely fair, it just comes down to that personal preference. The tyranid I did for the "10 Min tyranid" sounds a lot more like what you're talking about. It's a very dark model transitioning from black to a dark red. Thank you for the kind words regarding my technique :D. 10 min tyranid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uIAqFNDyImA.html
