FANTASTIC!!! It was mesmerizing to watch. I love how you began each step detailing what you're doing and the effect you want to achieve. Yet, we get to see the progress with the little 'jumps' you make in the video. I also learned how, when, and why to use a dry brush and the different effects that can be achieved. It was fascinating. I watched and was surprised at how many times I had to tell myself "Of Course"! It all made so much sense when you demonstrated it, even to this 73 year old who has the time and willingness but is only learning the basics. THANK YOU so very much! Incidentally, your calm voice that is so easy to listen to, also instills the patience needed to do such gorgeous and realistic art. Your English is also VERY good and easy to understand. @@brennerfineart This is great, I have attempted it twice but can not get the waves to look like waves. What is the trick there?
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart Год назад
@@user-fm9gc7dh8c The trick is to practice hard - you can not expect to get the same result without the adequate amount of practice. Just like anything else in life - if you want to master something it takes dedication and practice. One thing - just really try to follow me step by step...and really try to do the exact same thing. That is something that people very often get wrong...they THINK they follow a tutorial but they somehow "wander off"...just like when you try to copy a photo onto the canvas - stay as close as possible and try to understand whats going on. And you will pick up how to paint this topic a lot faster!

@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart Год назад
I can assure you, colour mixing is a skill you can learn. This actually the easier part of painting...when you are patient enough you really are able to mix the exact colour you need, even if it may take a while to fine tune the pool of colour.

Excellent lesson / lecture / demonstration! I learned today from you the technique of fanning out the drops of light on wave tops to give the illusion of sunlight reflecting off of the water. This technique makes the painting much more realistic. Thank you. - Mr. John Valentine

Thanks for this tutorial, you literally saved me, I'll try this technique soon. I wanted to make my father a gift so I'm trying to paint the training ship where he trained to become a seaman, but while I'm good at landscapes, I've never painted the sea before, so right now I have a canvas with a perfect sky and a huge blue rectangle underneath it. Wish me luck lol

Brilliant! You make it look so easy! 😃 I have not tried to do any painting yet, but l would really like to try this. I had a Great Uncle, who died sometime in the 1980's, and he painted a lot. I had his brushes in my attic for a long time, then one day we were having a clear out. I looked again at the cardboard tube full of old brushes, and thought they looked a bit strange, not like the packets of brushes you see in a shop. Some were short and stubby and stiff, some were flattened, some were very thin with hardly any bristles. So l thought they were no good and threw them out! Years later, after taking an interest in painting myself and watching others, l've realised that they were exactly the sort of brushes needed! I didn't know. What a clown! I could kick myself. Good brushes don't come in packs. They need to be bought and collected individually as we progress in our learning. My uncle had probably gathered those up over a lifetime. 😊

@brennerfineart 2 года назад
Hi Mya, thanks a lot :-)))) Yes I completely agree, you need to find out what YOUR way of painting is and what kind of tools you need for that. I bet if someone would stumble across my collection of brushes or "painting-tools" a lot of that stuff would also be thrown away immediately - no one uses those fuzzy, ragged old brushes, right???...but I do, of course not all the time, using them for special tasks ;-)))) And I also hardly ever throw any brush away - they STILL might come in handy one day when I need a special tool for a new not yet painted texture :-))))
