Thanks! It’s a helpful tip I learnt along the way and love to share. I always used to find pansies so complicated to draw. Those brackets really helped me to get a better shape and more accuracy, easily !!
Thanks Maryanne, I’m so happy you enjoyed the lesson. Pansies are one of my favourites too, especially because they flower all summer long and well into the autumn here - and start again in February! Have fun!
Thank you for the “biology lesson”! It was exactly what I needed to know. Now if I could just tame the urge to “overkill” with paint, and learn how to let watercolors be water colors LOL. I’ve only used acrylics in the past.
Ha ha!!! I know exactly what you mean, I have to restrain myself from adding yet another dab, just another stroke, just straighten up this line, et cetera et cetera. It’s so true that less is more!
Beautiful painting. Do you use 100% cotton paper? I think both Winsor & Newton and Canson Montval on your list above are not. I am learning how to paint watercolor on my own, and I consider myself as a "beginner" :)
Hi, thanks for your comment and question. No, I don’t use 100% cotton paper except for larger commissions. For a beginner the student grade from Canson and W&N are easier to use.
My mother loved pansies and I am really missing her. Thank you so much for teaching us how to easily recreate these beautiful flowers. You are amazing Diane!
Love this, though I had no luck finding a free download of the design you spoke about, but I am not great at smart phone searching, and have no separate computer. Beautiful work! Maybe I can purchase a painting one day, it would be lovely, to have it! I have fun trying and I water color smaller stuff on card fronts, but nothing like you!👍
Sorry Kathy, we didn’t manage to get the download up on the website tonight but it will be there tomorrow! (My daughter does the website stuff and she got waylaid in the garden cos it was such a nice afternoon and a chance to get some vital gardening done!) Glad you enjoyed the video, lovely to have you on board - have fun playing with paint, we all deserve it !! xxx
