Stephanie S. OMG! Lmao, that is literally why I just clicked on this vid!! I watched her “dear influencers” vid and thought she had a nice soft voice so when I saw this vid in my recommenced today I was like “yep!!” and clicked on it haha.
This is 5 years later and to me is still very relevant. I've watched a gazillion tutorials (no joke) on how to apply, but none on how to properly pair them up, which is a big issue for me. This is so helpful and valuable if I could give a million thumbs up, I would. Thank you, Marlena!!!!
FInally a breakdown of how to choose colors!! I love my RU-vid beauty’s and their tutorials but this right here is what I needed. I want to be independent from just copying my fav RU-vid personalities. Muchas gracias!!! 😘
Between you being so open and honest about your personal journey, and you taking time to make videos like this I'm subscribing. You are truly an encouragement.
Classics stand the test of time. I watched this 4 years ago and I still recommend this (and you) to everyone I know. It’s 2019 and this information still stands. Thank you for always being true to what “beauty” really means.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice work, Marlena. I have been trying to experiment with different eye looks lately and these tips definitely help guide me. Also, I love the big poster of how exactly to map out colors.
Love this video and how you explain monochromatic and polychromatic. I've never understood what those meant and now I do!! Also very helpful on how to pair stuff together. I don't know how many times I've looked at a palette and didn't know what to put together. Thank you!!
THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN MY NUMBER 1 QUESTION WHEN USING A MULTIPLE COLOR PALLET. I ALWAYS JUST BUY THE 4 COLOR COMBO PACKS. HAVENT EVEN WATCHED THE VIDEO AND HAVE ALREADY SUBSCRIBED. LOL
Thank you so much for this video! I had a hard time with pairing the proper colors and I have a better understanding now! I'm trying to better my blending techniques & this helped a lot!
I love this lady so much. You do so much work and it pays off. Thanks for making a makeup company so amazing! I love you. You inspire everyone around you!
This popped up right on time! I'm going to be playing with eyeshadow and I've always wondered how people did their pairings. This has demystified the process and I feel confident enough to one day give it a go. Thank you☺
This is great, I'm new to putting makeup on others and I get overwhelmed by all the colours n palettes I have and always have to refer back to tutorials, so this really helps me identify what I can use together. Thanks Marlena..a majority of my kit is all mug...just waiting on my complete foil palette to arrive now :)
I never knew she was THIS tiny...i thought she said she was always heavy...I been watching YT since 2012 but didn’t know who she was until the end of makeup geeks popularity.
@@AFFTFOMSICHTS no, Im pretty sure she's said her weight has always been up and down, or maybe she said "struggled" with her weight. I could be wrong though. I've watched her for *many* years, but probably a year or so after this video. I actually like her lips better like this... beautiful smile. But I also like her with a little "meat" on her bones. She's truly a beautiful person and beautiful soul.
Thank you so much for making this video, I have always wondered who people chose the colors they picked for the beautiful looks I want to try! I can proceed with confidence now!
I love that you actually have these types of quick lessons. You've been a makeup professional that I watch regularly, and have inspired me to look into going to makeup academy!
thanks for this! ive been a little more knowledgable for colors to look for when purchasing palettes and this is a true eye opener. i love look for the darkest matte shade and the most golden shimmer shade and then check out the other colors. im medium-dark, so i luckily get away with some lighter colors and the darker ones as well. would have loved a display of actually added the colors to the paper and then adding the colors to a person. great video!
We miss this Marlina. Not what youtube has done to her. Shes had to become defensive and just jaded I guess. I still watch and enjoy these informative and instructional videos of hers ❤❤❤ I suppose I will always support her in my own way
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these types of videos! Even though I've been wearing makeup for many years, I have acquired some bad habits in application techniques and color choices. You're videos are VERY helpful! Please keep creating these types of videos. 😃
This has become my favorite video. I love how you address the needs of women of all shades. Using the picture to explain was as excellent idea! This is such a great video. I will be able to apply what you've taught!
A little off topic but, I just needed to say this. I just ordered 3 of your gel liners &, while pleased with the product, I was even more pleased with the very sweet handwritten note included in my box. It was such a very sweet, very nice touch & made me feel a little more connected. I love it! Thanks for always being amazing, Marlena!
thank you for your in-depth information. we take what applies to us and move on. i'm sure it takes time to compile this info, set up and provide visuals for us. I truly appreciate this free service that you provide to YT viewers at the cost of your time, effort and energy! Thanks Marlena! Love your vids and tuts!
Here 5 years later... this reminded me why I loved you from the beginning Marlena! You should do a “how to choose eyeshadows depending on your clothing” 🙏🏼
Marlena, you beat me to asking for help with all the new shadows I got for Christmas. I hope this New Year brings you happiness, success, and someone special to share it with. You deserve it! Take care of you!
I love how versatile you are!! It's been hard for me to watch videos from those far from my complexion and even still, i end up confused. But you've been very inclusive/considerate of other skin colors and I have really enjoyed watching. Plus, you actually know what to do so I've struck gold coming across your channel lol!!!
I really love these information videos! I would love to see more of these :) You teach very clearly and it's easy to understand. I would love to learn more about the complex techniques of makeup to help with my portfolio. Thanks again!
Marlene, I really love the natural way you teach! As a teacher, I know you would do and do a great job! You are fun to watch and you keep us interested! And, I like the information a lot!
This is by far hands down, the best makeup video I have ever watched. I went to study makeup in university and the tutors were nowhere near as helpful, experienced and awesome as you! Thank you so much x
I really enjoy watching your tutorials! It's so helpful for a new beginner! I am just now getting into learning how to do my makeup! Thank you so much!
Thank you for using the word "monochromatic" in the correct context. It annoys me when illiterate people use the word "monochrome" to refer to a black & white combination - "mono" = one, "chrome" = colour. Black & white aren't even colours, never mind the fact that there's 2 of them in a combo.
lol so let me ask, why did you choose to use the term when it really didn't add to the information in the least? Also, if you are going to attempt to feign ignorance about what you were trying to infer, do you know the meaning of the term illiterate? I only posted because I get tired of reading other people putting people down. You're obviously a smart person and you can portray that without being nasty.
I disagree with you. You can't put any colors together! When it comes to polychromatic looks one must look at a color wheel. Colors that are opposite will accentuate each other (like green-red / blue-orange) but will make it impossible to pair on the lids. You cannot blend eyeshadows that are oposite together. Try it and you'll see that it will create an ungly brown color. You can create a cut crease or use them on upper or lower lids but never without differentiating them. To mix colors the best way is to look at the color wheel and look up the colors your main color comes from. For a harmonious look for ex with a blue- green ( turquoise) you have to use green- yellow combo or a blue purple combo. This way blending will be a piece of cake. Also you can use neutrals to help blend towards your brow bone when using strong colors. Any color that has no similarity with skin (green and blue especially), will need a color that has a similar pigment as the skin to blend out.
Open up just about any beauty or fashion magazine to see examples of well-paired and well-executed eye looks using complimentary or split complimentary colors. Such pairings can be tricky, but they do work and can be used to create the boldest, most artful looks.
Celeste - omg she was so skinny!!! I’m not being mean. I’m bigger than I’ve ever been. I know the struggle. I’m just making an observation. She’s pretty no matter what. I love her makeup too.
I don't like how she says you can't have all matte or all shimmer there are tones of ways all matte eyeshadow looks can be amazing and same thing with all shimmery just the way this girl has so many "rules" of makeup pisses me off makeup is a free art you can do whatever you want.
Love to see a video on these color shadows going with the color eye. Thanks I feel I'm sleepy at this moment I was enjoying lots of ur videos & I have a sleep problem
This is from only 6 yeas ago? That's a very short time to change so much & become unrecognizable. And I don't mean the weight, it's too much surgery & fillers. Sad that she felt the need for it.
You are a great educator in the makeup industry. Thank you so much! I wish I had a video like this when I was starting out with makeup, much easier than trying to go through tutorials knowing very little about what looks good together.
I love your "educational " videos very much Marlena , they have saved me many times , I am a teacher myself and know pretty well that teaching certain skill isn't just anybody's ability , it needs a special talent :)
Marlena. I REQUESTED this vid when you posted the Eye Shapes Vid. NEVER have I requested a vid and it was actually made. You are truly the best. Thank you thank you!! U dont know how big this is!!
This was really great Marlena! I love your eyeshadows so much and definitely want to buy more. I just went travelling and the only eyeshadows I brang with me were your ones in a Z-pallete! I love them and can't wait for you to make more.
Hey Marlena, I'm loving your "like a pro" series, and this one was so informational, not to mention perfect timing! I was just staring at my makeup palettes, trying to think of various eyeshadow combos I can create, when your video came to the rescue! Thank you so much, this gives me alot to think about and even better ideas to create different looks! As always, keep up the wonderful work, I highly appreciate your work =)
I'm so glad I found you last year. I've learned so much from you and have invested about $200 in makeup because of you. I've gotten so many compliments about wearing makeup now. I look better and I feel better and I love it. I just $86 dollars worth of makeup geek eyeshadows. I can't wait to try them out and the hubby didnt even complain that I spent so much because he sees how great I look and how happy I am lately. Thank you for teaching people like me better tricks & making me love makeup aga
i watched ''How To Apply Your Eyeshadow Like A Pro'' before i watch this and i can't wait to try this makeup tips in both 2 videos. Thumbs up,you go girl :)
Thank you Marlena! That was incredibky helpful. There are days where I do my makeup and its not terrible but its not deliciousness either and I wondered what I was missing. I have been schooled. Please keep videos like this coming. I was a late bloomer into girliness so I have a lot to make up for and catch up on.
