► I have been skating for over 30 years, from rollerskates to aggressive skates, speed skates and recently triskates, and it was 4 years ago when I started using my triskates to cruise around the city that I realized how important the slides could be for me to do a quick stop and of course to add a little bit of fun into my slating
as I know in the beginning is not as easy as it seems, I decided to make this video to give a few tips on how to do it.

Great tutorial, with most important aspects covered! In addition, a few tips that could be useful for beginners: Sliding parallel can be easier when front foot in slide is put a bit forward before going in. This way the front foot will be already closer to where it should be when sliding. Then both feet only need to be turned sideways. No need for front foot to travel around back foot while making balancing and direction matching harder. Also be sure to go in with the upper body first ( turn sideways). No need for sudden movement here which at first can put the body off balance. Just prepare the front foot and upper body, to the closest pose possible, then execute the rest. Good thing that Ricardo Lino mentioned not to jump into the slide and be weightless. Would add that it can be a small weight shift up and down, to allow extension of legs and to "sit" on the hip. Just barely enough to extend the legs without moving any body parts/weights to the sides. But for sure not a jump. One more helpful exercise could be getting into sliding pose without any speed and then getting back to the riding pose back. It will be hard to stay in that leaned/angled pose and to keep it as long as possible. It will last for a second at most. But it's a good exercise to coordinate the upper body correctly and place/stop feet exactly where they should be.

Nice video! I'm going to have to try that "swirl" drill during my warm up before sliding. I've been carving to warm up, but I really like this idea of committing to the swirl until you feel the slide happening. Very nice & complete lesson, thank you.

After years and years of aggressive skating (about 24) I've started freeskating about three years ago, totally love it. Learned to slide pretty well. Now haven't skated in a while, totally lost it... grrrr. Thanks for the tips Ricardo, sliding less than 90 degrees is a good one. Will give it a try!

Hey Ricardo, thanks for putting this together. I think the little hip twist is the best piece of advice. Be Elvis on skates and get the twist down. That's the magic. Speaking of magic...what do you think of the 'magic-slide'? Where you're sliding your front foot like a parallel slide and the trailing foot is kind of dragging...both feet on the inside edge. Not sure if I've seen you do that one. But I see some guys doing it a lot. Guys like Greg Mirzoyan. Talk to you later and keep rolling.

Sliding from a slalom weave is not something I had considered! I executed a perfect slide a couple weeks ago but even right after I did it I wasn't sure what I had done to set myself up. Lol 😆 Now I think this is how I did it since I do like to weave in order to kill speed when I have the space.

Hi Lino, the Delta F skate you use looks like you have an Intusion liner inside, not? on the Micro skates website it looks like the Delta F has a fixed liner, similar to the K2 Soulslide Skate back in the ´90s or any other softboot those days. Please clarify. Thanks

This drift-type parallel sliding looks so graceful. First I saw it on videos of downhill rollers. E.g. the video "Downhill Roller" (on youtube channel) is very impressive. Here the drift by parallel sliding is a main technique of rollers to slow down, and they do it so effortlessly and naturally that is seems this technique is organic by nature for downhill skating.
