Just got back from taking the drivers test. I passed. The video showed the same route as the test. The only difference being no 3 point turn, is read you line up against the road in the neighborhood and back up like 10-15 feet. Super easy thanks to this video. Make sure you go 15 or a bit lower when passing by cactus high school and everything else should be super easy. Thank you for the video it made the test super easy.
This video is so helpful. I went to this exact location and passed the road test. I practiced the three point turn at this location during the weekend and on my own in empty parking lots. Ahh this video saved me from alot of anticipation, thanks so much!
for anyone taking the test soon, there’s still no 3 point turn it’s replaced with backing up on the side of the road (in a neighborhood) until the instructor tells you to stop (just do it slowly and look thru ur mirrors) and when u go back onto the road turn on ur signal and look first before you go. My route was a right at the main entrance of the dmv then going past the two intersection straight and then turning right on I think on country gables to a small neighborhood street (on the right is apartment complex). Then a right into the neighborhood (and that’s where I did the backing up portion, I didn’t turn on my hazards but I don’t think u have to?) continued into the neighborhood tbh I don’t remember the exact turns but u end up exiting to an intersection in front of the school there (it’s like 63rd and greenway?) continue straight to the elementary school (it’s 15 mph there) then once past it’s back to 25 (same in this video) then all the way straight until a right at kings avenue then straight until a right turn at 59th avenue and back to the dmv then they have u park alongside the left side (my advice is park in the sooty next to the curb if it’s open it helped me out and I parked rlly good). There’s a lot of speed bumps on kings ave and in the neighborhood just go slow and stay at 25 or below when ur in those two areas. One thing that happened to me was a pedestrian on that first right at the exit of the dmv (there’s a lot of traffic there so I was better off waiting for him to cross, also I was behind the red line do not go forward immediately like in the video), stay at the speed limit I went to like 44 in the beginning and she told me at the end to slow down but all my turns and stuff weren’t harsh and same w breaking if u master that u will be fine it was so easy
We were here in the evening and others were practicing the 3 point turn. A couple of them asked me for some advice. I told them I'd be happy to. Explained that the cones and poles were there to guide them. To take a wide left turn into the space with 3poles and keep the middle post at center. After pulling all the way up to them, stop and crank the steering wheel all the way (max it out) to the right. Now go back slowly and clear the cones and stop as you straighten wheels out. They got better after a few tries and so did we. It should be a piece of cake!
Took my test today and passed, they no longer do the three point turn, good luck to those who have their future drivers license test! Believe in yourself 🙂
@@IVIAGIC So, for the first 5-7 minutes of the test they will have you drive then they will have you pull up parallel to a curb and back up about 20 ft, or until they say stop as straight as you can without hitting the side walk or going over it. They have you drive through residential areas (25 mph) and school zones (15mph) the test is pretty easy. Just relax while you're doing the test and keep your basics in mind, and you'll do great!
Just took my test and I passed. Patty was her name, she's awesome. Told me "You need more confidence when you drive" which is really sound advice. Thanks man. You don't know how much this helped me.
I passed my road test today. The route still the same and the examiner didnt cover my car screen for my 3 point turn test and road test. Thank you so much for this video, and the tips. I watched it million times and practiced every weekend in this DMV for over a month then took the test.
Road test tomorrow! I’ve been watching this video over and over and honestly i think I’ll do just fine! I went to the dmv on the weekend and learned my 3 point turn! Face all your fears 2019! Thank you for this 🙏🏽
Good luck, just remember don't speed. Normal roads, you lose points at 5 over, 10 over is automatic fail. Even 1 over in the school zone is an automatic fail. And make complete stops at stop signs and you'll be fine! Thx 4 watching!
I had to reschedule. I passed today on the first try! 3 point turn was easy. I got marked 4 point off because i stopped and no stop sign was there but THANK YOU so much for this video! I will pass this on to my friends!
This video was nearly exactly as is. Remember, schools are 15 if there is a sign (must be 15 at the sign or ticket), residentials are 25, and roads are whatever is posted such as 40. Current process in this DMV: schedule an appointment by phone, line up in the appointment line, go through some of the processes, wait for your turn at the 24th counter (just take note of who was there before you), get your car and park in the orange cones (employee parking slots), follow check-ups on vehicle such as hazard lights and brakes, 90 reverse for them to get in, then follow their directions for the route.
@@onederdude Technically, yes. But all they tell you to do is 1.) Right turn into an employee parking location 2.) Check hazards, brake, lights, etc. 3.) 90 Reverse to the left. Then they get in. 4.) Drive forward. That's all
I took my test yesterday and passed!! , UPDATE, no more three point turn , you just drive around a long block and go back to the dmv and they let you know if you passed or not
Watched this video before going to the mvd and I passed! Thank you so much for the tips, it helped me not be so nervous when I took the test. Waited a whole year for this and it has surely paid off.
@@mommyluna264 when I went to take my exam they did not make me do the three point turn. I don’t know if it has changed now but it’s good to at least practice it just in case
Took this test today and passed! This video was very helpful for me as it is very similar to the course used today! The 3 point turn is no longer on the test as it is replaced by backing up parallel to a curb for about 20 feet, which is very easy. Good luck future test takers and thanks for this video!
Sadly I won't know till I learn to drive the new car we got. I was driving a minivan. So huge car and I didn't pass the 3 point turn due to crossing the white line. The women was super nice and told me to come back.
Jenna Blaauw with a minivan, start as far to the right as possible before the 2 red lines. try doing a wide left turn to the center or slightly right side of the box with the 3 yellow poles. get up close about a foot away. then turn ALL the way left before backing up. the car will end up right in the middle of the last box. I've done it that way with my 21 foot long F250.
Thank you so much for this video. I watched this leading up to my MVD road test at this Glendale location & this was exactly the route I was instructed to take turn for turn. All the tips were very helpful as well. I would recommend these videos to anyone looking to get a little more help. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for this video . I kept coming to look at this video when it was close to my test. I was able to pass my first time. for future drivers going to this location , make sure that you can do the three point turn. Turn wheel ALL they way BEFORE reversing. Also at least in my position, the instructor told me to go on the exact route that this video goes through !👌🏾. Thank you !! And good luck 👍🏾
@@batnick10 yes. You park in a giant parking spot in the beginning. Then in the neighborhood, they have u pull over, back up 20 feet. And then go back on the road.
Em so in the beginning they make u go out alone and bring ur car into the back in the first parking space the one to the right of the parking space with cones and then in the end when ur coming back to the dmv they have u park to the left anywhere, also they have u pull over and make sure to use ur blinker pulling in to the curb and also blinker when pulling out. u need to know where ur hazards speedometer right left blinker and parking break are
Hey man thanks! Really did help with my test. Your awesome and thanks for the positive notes and reminding to take it chill. People please: MAKE SURE YOUR CAR INSPECTION GOES WELL (tires are not balding, clean inside, lights work, windows work, no cracks on windshields, brakes work) otherwise you might have to reschedule and ITS. A. BITCH. Took mine and passed, this location is no longer doing three point turns. WICKENBURG ON THE OTHER HAND, forget going there. 😑😑😑
Lannie Barrias sorry to hear that, but it's better to have that happen on the test, than for a cop to give you a $600 ticket later on. the police have zero tolerance in school zones (which means they write tickets for 1 over) and some other areas. just go 10 through the crosswalk.
SWEET! My son has the road test today, and we went there last night to do the 3 point turn. He's had a license before, but I was hoping to find out what route they were taking
Watched some of your videos prior to my road test and I passed on the first try! The only thing I did wrong was not slow down enough in a construction zone near the school zone. And perhaps signaled too early sometimes. Other then that it was good! So thank you for the videos!!
Road test tomorrow, I had a friend that took it recently but they said they didn’t do the 3 point turn but during the road test they made her pull up to the curb and back up like 10-20 feet. Is this true?
Someone else just commented the same thing. For the life of me, I have no idea why they would do that but I've heard that about every DMV location in town
@@Compa_brayan not for a tire pressure light. But you better make sure you're not running low on air or you can have a tire blowout. They can only fail you for equipment if your blinkers, horn, speedometer, headlights or taillights etc. are broken.
Jenny Celaya yep! everything was exactly the same. i only got three points off because i didn’t turn fast enough leaving the parking lot though ~ but if you’re taking this soon use a small car, good luck!!
I'm nervous but this video called me down a little bit.... I taught myself how to drive 10 years ago and haven't driven ever since, so I'm buying a car after I take the written test tomorrow... Thank you for the video 👍😎
i just took this test today and you don’t have to 3 point turn just drive around the block. the only thing you have to do that wasn’t in the video was reverse in a straight line for like 20 seconds
During the three point turn, I know you can't touch lines but does that only mean your wheel touching the line or the front bumper hovering over it too?
That's a big one. It will work as long as you get up close to the 3 yellow posts, turn to full lock before backing up. Also don't hit the curb in the end when you back up. Practice it until you get it 100%
for the 3 point turn that you did in the video, is the space where you go into larger than a normal parking spot? because some other videos tell you to be on the very right and then full reverse
Aryan yes it is much larger than a 9 foot standard parking spot. Center is easiest to back in, unless you have an Escalade or Suburban or extra large vehicle. Avoid being close to the sides, it makes it easier to hit cones. Start on right when you enter, turn wide left into center of first box, pull up close, stop, turn wheels all the way right, reverse into center of 2nd box. straighten out, reverse until fully inside box. Then stop and pull forward into 3rd box
I believe that the essence of our driving culture needs to change for the better. It simply needs to evolve to another level of sophistication and refinement. Currently what is glaringly lacking is an acute sense of courteous and selfless responsibility and accountability. With more and more drivers crowding the roadways it's time for a startup organization to offer affordable driver training courses. Courses such that drivers will be recognized and rewarded with sizeable discounts from Insurance carriers. A greater volume of drivers ought to somehow translate into much lower rates per individual driver, especially if they belong to an elite group of unblemished driving records for decades for e.g. Something's gotta give. Metro Phoenix with its nice grid layout/system is extremely spread out and must become a cohesive driving culture unlike any other. Cheers!
badmiyagi .s I agree the state/insurance companies should provide some incentives for good drivers not to be lumped in with the other narcissists that are speeding and texting. if you rewarded good driving, i bet more people would do it. I like what Japan does with their leaf decals for young / old drivers. Maybe one day I'll run for office for ADOT and make some changes. First change I would make is to start ticketing texting drivers $500. Double if they have minors in the car.
Yes, Japan would be a great model for the rest of the world on numerous issues. They have this one right! Texting and driving and all the rest of the stuff you haven't mentioned here. I know. The list is too long. You got our vote though! Cheers!
Hello, do you place your arm the passenger seat to reverse in the three point turn? do you use your signals anytime during doing three point turn? thank you.
On a closed course like the 3pt turn, signals are not required. You can reverse using your mirrors, or leaning back looking out the rear window. Does not matter where your arm goes.
I passed my test today! (02/09/2021) I technically did the three point turn by parking in between two poles, doing the inspection, then pulling out to start the driving portion of the test. We did go along this route but before the final stop sign I did have to pull over and reverse without going onto the sidewalk or into the street. I didn’t do great on that part so the instructor directed me a bit but I still passed!
At the Glendale dmv do they still do three point turns? And if not what will I have to do during the test? I’m taking my test Friday and the three point turn is making me nervous since I have a van
None of the public DMV locations do three point turns anymore. Just the 5 minute road test. Don't speed and don't run stop signs 👌 Some people comment that they make you stop and reverse on an empty road. Make sure you use your signals to pull over and look around thoroughly before backing up.
hello! i'm taking my road test here in a few days and i was curious about the replacement for the 3-point turn. from what i've gathered its just "pull over and back up 20 feet in a residential area" but do they walk you through it? i'm a bit worried about over/underestimating the 20 feet and knocking points off and would appreciate some clarification! thank you for the video, its very helpful!
20 feet is about as much as a pickup truck. Its not important the exact distance, they just make sure you use your blinkers to pull over, hazard lights while stopped, check your mirrors, blind spots before backing, and don't go on the sidewalk. Just make sure you practice backing into some parking spots to have good control over the car you'll be fine. Good luck!
@@idalidmelo5558 hi!! i took the test there yesterday and they don't make you do any 3-point turns or parallel parking. after checking in, they had me park near the front of the dmv and once it was my turn, they asked me to sit in my car and checked the horn/blinkers/brake lights etc. before getting in the car to start the driving portion. you just have to follow the route shown in the video and maybe a little over halfway in, they'll ask you to pull over between some small white signs, turn on your hazard lights, and back up about 20 feet without going up on the curb or going into the road, then safely reenter the street. at the end of the test, they asked me to pull into a parking spot on the left of the dmv (regular straight parking) and we finished the test there. i passed thanks to this video so it's not hard at all as long as you make sure to follow the road rules. good luck if you plan on testing here!
@@idalidmelo5558 you just park in a giant parking spot in the south side of the lot. It has little poles on the sides. Then the 5 min drive, then you park and back up 20ft.
That is nuts. They're just giving away licenses now.. I noticed about a year ago they stopped doing them in Surprise and Avondale. I guess now they're not doing them at all anymore.
Too my test and sadly didn’t pass today the lady said it was because I didn’t do observing/planning, went to slow and stopped stop sign, but didn’t fully. Although I was super sad, I am going back Wednesday because I am determined to get it!
@@ydais60 not slowing down over speed bumps, not following road signs, not changing lanes soon enough, not seeing pedestrians crossing, it can be a lot of things.
I have seen your other videos on road tests.. such as Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa etc. To me it looks like the glandale has less traffic on the test rout as compared to other mvds. Is that correct? Secondly, my wife wants to take the test, but she doesn't speak English or Spanish, but she can read the road signs and the instructions..Will MVD staff accommodate her? She already got her permit.
Glendale location is definitely busy. Bell road is one of the busiest roads in the valley. But since the test is practically all right turns in a neighborhood, and no more 3 point turn, its super easy. As for the language situation, you can call the DMV and ask them what the options are. Good luck!
if im in a coupe, do i still pull all the way forward in the three point turn box, or do I lign up the back of my car with the first cones on the first box, thank you for this video
Start with just getting in the exact center of 1st box. 95% of all cars will go right into the 2nd box easy if you do that. If you are sure you are centered but it isnt working, then pull up less far into the 1st box, but I doubt you should have to do this unless its a mini cooper.
Branden Carnahan so if there’s no posted sign with the speed limit at a school zone, the automatic speed limit is 25? I always followed the crosswalk sign to slow down to 15, just wanted some clarification. Thanks for the help!
@@sp_fujin6579 Im Arizona, if any road has no posted speed sign, the default speed limit is 25. If there is a posted sign that says a different speed, like 15, or 35, or 55, the sign is the speed limit. In a school zone, the speed limit does not change, unless there is a posted sign that says a different speed. 15 is only required when the little metal sign is in the road, on a school day, when the kids are walking to school and the crossing guard is out on the corner.
I take my test on Wednesday and i’m super nervous. Couple questions. I seen how people are saying that I am going to have to pull into a neighborhood & reverse for about 20 feet. Do I need to use any signals when I reverse ? If so which one ? Also , school has been out and a lot of people are doing online school, so if there is NOT that sign that says “ 15mph school in session” , do i go 25 ? or still 15 ? Sorry for all the questions , I am very nervous , I want to pass !
In a school zone you don't have to change your speed unless there is a posted sign saying a different speed. If there is a sign, never go over the speed limit by even 1mph in a school zone. Automatic fail. Use right blinker to pull over to curb. Hazard lights on when stopped and reversing. Look over your shoulder and out back window as you start reversing. When finished reversing, turn off hazard lights and use left blinker to leave the curb. Always check your mirrors and bling spots before rejoining the road.
Gucci Panther it depends on the type of crack. there should be a line near the top of the windshield on the side that says AS 1. if there's any cracks below that, the cop can decide to ticket you and the DMV can disqualify you, since it's illegal. there are a lot of small glass companies that advertise free replacements with your insurance. Might be best to call the DMV and ask them before driving down there.
Is it still true that the 3 point turn is included in the test? I have my test in thursday and i wanna know if it’s that or the backing up parallel to a curb.
I am also 18 , never took my permit or anything. Will I have to take the written test before I drive or am I just going to have to take the road test and that’s all?
So for the three point turn you pull up into the center, it shouldn't be more to the left to be about to back up between the cones? 3:06 I'll be taking it in an suv. Are you able to adjust yourself at all Midway?
Being to the left will sometimes cause the nose to hit cones while backing up. Especially in a large vehicle like an SUV. In a small car it doesn't matter as much if you're perfectly center, but in an SUV, you need all the space you can get. Yes you are allowed now to do a 5 point turn and adjust your angle while backing up as well. You shouldn't need to though, the Glendale 3 point turn box is massive.
Thank you. One more thing I forgot because I took the written awhile ago. What's the speed limit in construction zones? I take my test Friday and there's tones of construction down 59th
I just did the test at this place and they made me go to the residential area and back up 20 ft they didn’t make me do the three point turn but also when he passed the school zone, I went at the same time he did like sped up to 25 after the school zone and they marked me down for that cause ur suppose to wait for a sign.
Weird. Speeding even 1 over is an automatic fail in a school crosswalk. Not just points off... You are only required to go 15 by the crosswalk itself. You dont have to keep doing 15 until the backwards sign for the other side of the road. The dmv employee was probably just new or in a bad mood. Either way you passed! Congrats and drive safe.
Good question. I was going to make a video on that soon. Hand over hand steering is the safest and preferred way for street driving. Search that on YT there is a couple good videos on it. As long as you're not driving with one hand, or jerking the wheel around, you're good.
Hey! I’m taking my test in a couple days, is it possible to get an updated video? I heard there were lots of changes such as no 3 point turn and reversing and such, which i’m confused on. It’s ok if you can’t make a full video, but let me know if you can elaborate on these changes!!
They just dont do the 3 point turn. Instead they make you park in a giant spot. Thats all. Sometime in the neighborhood, they will ask you to pull over and then back up for 20 feet. Then go back and finish the 5 minute road test. Good luck!
So that path was completely different when I went, once I pulled out of the DMV the lady made me turn on the very 1st light and straight into the neighborhood which is the path that you went on (a shortcut) I did reverse on the curb and I got full points and everything was perfect, but she gave me an automatic fail for NOT doing a “California stop” on the stop sign with the “bad blind spot” you mentioned, what should I do when I go back on Friday? That really confused me
Hmm.... That doesnt make much sense. I think you should explain what happened to a manager. The state has pre set routes and they arent supposed to deviate from them. Sounds like that person is doing their own thing and needs to be reported. There are only a few things you can automatic fail for, hitting a cone, jumping curb, dangerous action. Nothing about stop signs is something a person can automatic fail for.
@@stephaniem7277 so basically when you drive out of the dmv, you turn right on the first light and it takes you straight into the neighborhood and there should be a yellow sign that you turn right on, then they make u park on the curve and reverse, when your done you go to that “blind spot” stop sign that he mentioned, turn right, go stir shut until you reach the stop light, turn right again and go back into the dmv
