Alright, for anyone who is currently watching this video as reference. Everything on this video is correct, except that the driving test is a little bit shorter(same route) and there is NO 3-point turn. Instead it is replaced by a normal forward park. For anyone who is worried and/or tripping, you shouldn't be. It's simple and straightforward, I just took my exam a couple of hours ago and passed. I advise that you do take advice from this guy's tips such as stopping and turning.
Aye y’all I just took my test at this exact spot and it was super straight forward and easy, anybody nervous about this shouldn’t be. Good luck everybody! Also there is no parallel park or 3 pt turn. Just park by the curb and reverse 20ft then you’re golden!
Dam congrats . I’m scared taking the driving test i already had my permit for a year now lol it’s going to expire this month 😔 .. can you plz explain to me how it all started details what happen when you got there Thank you
Hi everyone. I took the test this Friday and just wanted to post how it was. First i had to go inside and wait in line to show my documents such as car registration and car insurance. Now about the test, the the lady asked me about the hand signals and what they are for. Then she asked me to show her the emergency break, the turn signal, the hazard lights, the speedometer, the windshield wipers and the defroster button. Once we were driving the car, the only tip that i give you guys is, like Branden said, when you are driving near the school area, you dont have to slow down to 15mph if there's no signs telling you to do that, which was my case when i was taking the test... In the end she told me to park the car forward and that if i wanted to adjust the car, i could back up 3 times, i just couldnt touch the cones. That was it. Good luck everyone !! and Thanks for the videos and the tips Branden !
So if there’s no sign for fifteen and it’s just a regular school zone sign it’s 25mph?? I practiced the new route this weekend and I did very good I’m just stressing about the school zone part I dont wanna go to slow or then fail for going above 15
@@susanaberumen2346 if you hit a cone its an automatic fail. Otherwise it just needs to be in the box on all sides. Doesnt need to be even or straight. As long as you are inside the lines
Took this test myself a few days ago. Test may have been modified for covid, but it was a pretty similar route. My advice: take it in the morning ! Very empty streets. I was surprised to see that they did not require a 3-point turn or parallel parking exam. All I had to do was go front-forward into a zone with cones. Very simple if you understand your car’s dimensions. This video helped me prepare a lot! Good luck to everyone taking the test :) It is easier than you think (you don’t have to get a perfect score, but you certainly should aim for it! And remember to always use your blinkers, even for things most people don’t use them for like in parking lots or when two lanes merge into one)
Ayo bro congrats. I was wondering if you have to make an appointment on the same day you apply, or can you apply and take the test on the same day? Also what things do i bring for my application?
@@helllo131 hopefully your questions were already answered, but I made an appt by just walking into the DMV office and asking to schedule a road test. If theyre backed up, you wont be able to take it the same day. They should tell you what you need to bring, but usually you just need car insurance info and that sorta thing
This video is amazing! It made me feel more confident about not being afraid to wait patiently at stop signs. Earlier today, I was waiting at a stop sign and the car behind me honked at me for waiting 🙄
@@plopping-wetlyacademyofmot9639 thank u been practicing two hands cause use to one but gettin down before Monday went the route yesterday to see but it’s 30 all around there besides the school part I would go 15
Thank you ! I watched your video on Tuesday night, on Wednesday I went to the dmv & plugged my phone to the aux cable & played your video ! I followed your route & your instructions . It was kind of weird but hey I feel more confident 🤞 hopefully I get the same route !
@@izzyraerox4055 if you havent taken it, or if anyone is going to take the test and sees this. You got this. I honestly believed i was never going to cause i had a hard time overcoming a fear of driving, these videos helped me tremendously in helping prepare for the verbage and all that comes with. Practice, practice, practice, with them. Good luck out there,be safe. 😊
I just took my test on Thursday and this video really helped. The road test was a little shorter than the video. There’s was no three point turn for me, just had a regular parking test. Super easy, if you’re nervous don’t be.
You said it’s a little shorter than the video so for clarifications .. Is it the same exact route? And they made you park at the DMV or at some random parking lot?
@@SalmaMohamed-ne2lo yes it was shorter for me. After passing the school we just turned right and started heading back to the dmv. Once at the dmv the instructor will guide you to specific parking spots and have you park the car
Thank you so much branden! I passed my road test today because of your instructive videos. You have no idea how much your small tips you add in help people. I studied your videos for months prior to making my appointment and made sure I went in prepared. Thank you thank you thank you 😌
I’m about to take my road test at this exact location and I’m kinda nervous but reading the comments kinda calmed my nerves so I’m feeling pretty confident
Thank you so much for the video it helped alot. But to update the test for everyone they are no longer doing 3 point turns, all you have to do is park like you would in a parking lot and there is a few different ways they have you take, I had a shorter than what you took. Thank you for helping.
@@plopping-wetlyacademyofmot9639 It was basically the same route, just at the 4 way stop, I turned left. They reversed it, so its basically the same in the video. They just have you park against the curb and reverse.
Is it still the 3 point turn? Or a parallel park? Top comment says it’s just a straight pull in park but when I call and ask they say it’s a 3 point turn??? Like I’m confused
This video is amazing! I don’t think I’ll be taking my test here but I’ve been to this dmv many times and I’ve lived in this area, great content. Thanks!
I take my test on Tuesday and I’m just finding this video. So glad to find out it’s just a regular parking test and not a parallel or 3 point. I can do both but just prefer not to. Unfortunately the only time I could go was in the late afternoon and now I’m nervous because that means more traffic. I’ll update in a few days with everything I had to do just in case anything has changed in the last couple months! Wish me luck! **UPDATE** So unfortunately I failed but I have my retest scheduled for next week and I’m hoping that next time I don’t make the same mistakes I did today. Here’s what I had to do as of Nov. 2021: 1.) Had to show where my hazard lights were and where my parking brake was as well as showing that my horn worked and that my blinkers worked and lit up both in the front of the car and the back. She also checked my brake lights. 2.) She told me that the “parking test” was going to be acting like I was picking someone up. So parking along the curb and then reversing from where I was at on the curb. This would have been done at the end I’m assuming but because I failed we didn’t get that far. 3.) We started on the exact route that is shown in the video but where I went wrong is I didn’t understand that the sign by the school zone that says 7:30 - 3:30 was for the u-turn sign and NOT for the school zone. So even though I went 15 through the first half I went 17 on the second half and that was what caused me to fail. It was completely my fault for not understanding that when the signs are out no matter the time you have to adhere to the 15 mph speed limit. 4.) After the school zone we just took right turns until we got back to the MVD so I’m not sure where we would have went after the school zone but once I take my test again I’ll update the full route that I had to take. Regardless of what my mistakes were it was super helpful to watch this video to understand the route and make sure that I wasn’t making mistakes that I probably would have normally made otherwise such as stopping at the incorrect area or not understanding how to approach and deal with a 4 way stop.
@@alanaaviles7139 I did retake it at Phoenix one other time and unfortunately failed that time as well so then I ended up taking my test at the Mesa location and it was so much easier so I ended up passing at that location.
@@mcpla1750 well 25 is the default for a residential or business area. AZ law (ARS 28-701) says residential speed limits are zero tolerance for speed. So never 26 ish, 20 to 25 max. 15 to 20 if there are people/kids around. and 25 is the max in a residential.
As of 2021, there still no three point or parallel. Just passed the test with ease. Keep a eye out for your surroundings & stop signs. Route is the same, just a bit short. They make you reverse 20ft & that’s it. Best of luck to you guys!
For my test I took a right at the 4-way stop instead of going straight. From there I had to reverse a few feet backwards on the curb. I took the test in late March 2021, and there was some construction at the DMV, so not sure if my reverse curb test was because of the situation. Good luck everyone taking the test, it's extremely easy, just don't get nervous and you'll be fine. P.S. Don't take the mistake of taking the test during rush hour like I did.
Thank you so much! I need this so badly! I was going to take my arizona driver's test, but I have a question! The woman who was going to take the test with me made me leave because my car did not have air conditioning and while both passenger and driver side windows worked the passenger side was just a tad slower than normal newer car windows. The woman continued to make me roll it up and down about 4 times in a row until it finally stopped and wouldn't work becuase she kept making me mess with it. Then she told me "I won't ride in a broken car." now I didn't want to argue with her so I left. But I just felt she was being extremely unreasonable looking back on it.
You are NOT required to have air conditioning or power windows. You only have to have a horn, speedometer, blinkers, headlights and taillights, and at least one mirror on the outside of the car, to do a road test. You should complain that someone is treating customers like that. DMV employees have a reputation for being rude but that person is just unprofessional. It would help if you had dashcam footage or audio of that. My first car was $300 and had no AC also. I remember those days!
Update: 4-16-2019. The DMV returned my email and at this time they are NOT doing 3 point turns at this location. I don't know why, or if they will start again.
Nice. Glad to help. I also have a video on "how to drive without breaking any az laws" Good luck. You can always get ahold of me with any questions. Thx for watching
Thanks for the video....my question is..I don't have a car .Can you rent a car at DMW just for the road test..if not what would you suggest I can do...I appreciate you answer ,
I failed mine near that school around the 3:30 mark there was 15 mph signs out and my instructor failed me right after I sped up a little after the last sign. And I only sped up to about 17 mph. I didn't know you had to continue going 15 even after the sign? But, oh well. She made me turn right at that stop sign and drive back to the mvd. I thought it was the not hitting cones part of the test I had to worry about, apparently they do that part at the last step of the test.
Hi I got a quick question I saw you didn’t go 15 mph on the school zone is that because school wasn’t in session. If it is when do know where you should slow down 15 mph?
Good question. The speed limit does not change in a school zone unless a posted sign says a different speed. The default speed limit if there isn't a speed limit sign in AZ is 25. No special school zone signs = go regular speed limit. If you drive by a school and if they have a 15 sign out, go less than 15. 1mph over is automatic fail. Also cops will write expensive tickets for 1 over in a school zone. School zone speed limits also only apply to active school days. No school that day, no school zone speed limit. Hope that helps!
@@plopping-wetlyacademyofmot9639 thank man. You’ve shaped the way I’ve drive and I’m really happy about that, sadly I didn’t pass. Should get it next time however.
I just took this test and it’s super easy! I think they’ve changed the route, but it’s not that much different. Also, there’s no parallel parking, or 3 point turn. You just park normally, and then they tell you if you passed or not. (:
@@lenavalenz6924 yeah i did, it was really easy. You dont have to worry. Just make your appointment in the morning or else youll have to deal with heavy traffic, especially in the school zones when everyone is picking up their kids.
Took mine there today at 3pm (that’s when that school gets out) I unfortunately didn’t drop to 15mph and that’s the only reason I failed so just be sure of that if you’re taking it at that location.
Do you have to stop before the lines at the stops always? I feel like it makes me take so long to make a turn and it feels wrong to have to stop twice since I stop then I scoot up and stop again, then turn. Will they take points off for stopping twice?
i am also wondering this. i did it how they did on the video and failed. the person said i shouldn’t do that because it confuses others. not sure now /:
The stop sign law in Arizona is title 28- 855 It says, if you are coming to a stop sign, you must make a stop before the crosswalk or stop line. If there are no white lines on the ground, you can stop at the farthest edge of the road where you can see clearly from both sides The proper way is to stop at the lines, and then move forward if you need to to see better. You can go all the way to something called the lateral curb line. And yes, they can Mark you down two points 4 position after stopping, if you don't stop at the proper place. They will knock you ten points off if you don't make a real stop though.
In the 2 areas that have the “school crossing” signs ..what is the speed limit? There is no posted 15mph sign. Wondering if I should be going 15 or 25??
You are only required to go a different speed in a school zone *if* they have a posted sign that says a different speed. School zones are also zero tolerance. (1mph over is automatic fails/ticket) If it's summer it's just 25. If it's a school day, and there's a sign and kids walking around and a crossing guard it's 15.
Hey I have a question, didn’t you drive past 2 schools, aren’t we supposed to slow down to 15 the speed limit? I am taking my test soon and I want to pass and that was my question
The speed limit does not change in a school zone unless there is a posted sign that says a different speed. If its a school day and if there is a sign that says school zone speed limit, then go the speed of the sign. If no speed sign, regular speed limit applies. A school *crosswalk* is different than a school *zone* If there are children out walking on a school day, and\or a crossing guard, then you must do 15 but only in the marked area near the crosswalk. Hope that helps!
Elvia Pina it's not as important to know exactly what street to turn on, it's more important to know the rules. i have a video called " how to drive without breaking any AZ laws." do what I do in that video, and you can pass any test. Just practice it a few times before you go. don't speed and make complete stops and you will be fine.
@@plopping-wetlyacademyofmot9639 Thanks so much! Just took it and passed! I can confirm that they're only doing the parking (pick one of two spots), and pulling over to the curb and backing up 20 feet.
hey i’m going to take my test on thursday, and this really helped, i just have heard that you can’t do the cross arm turn only the push and pull turn, is that true?
From what I understand, push pull is a British standard. It is not used in modern traffic as far as I know. Hand over hand is not only much safer in an emergency, it is fine on the test and is what driving schools teach. 👍
If there are no lines, paths or sidewalks going through the street, you can choose to stop at the sign, or the lateral curb line. If there are lines or paths or sidewalks going through the driveway or street you are required to stop before them, then you can pull up to see better.

Hello everyone, I'm taking my test this upcoming week or next week and I'm just hoping there is someone who has taken the test recently. Is the route still pretty short and similar? Also for the parallel parking or three point turn, are one of these still required? Thanks so much. Any tips from recently are SO much appreciated. God bless everyone reading this, you got this! I plan to make all new videos sometime in the future if i find a good camera person. The route hasn't really changed in years and the video isn't that old though. Once in a while a dmv employee goes rogue and takes u on a couple different turns but it shouldn't matter where it is if you know the road laws. They are the same on all public roads. Good luck on test!
Chandler is over an hour from me, so not any time soon, but possibly in the future. You can get a sneak peek by parking behind the DMV. Wait for someone to take a road test and just follow em from a distance.
Honestly just don't speed, make real stops at stop signs and right on reds. Don't rush or go if you arent sure u can. Most people that fail, it was either speeding or running stop signs. Or pulling out in front of traffic, rushing it if they werent sure.
Okay so my test is tomorrow and I am sooooo nervous because I turn with one hand and I seen this thing saying use both hands to turn and I don’t know how😭 but another thing is that the car I use, the visor with a mirror on it is broken, so I have to move it and hold it down to see. Not in the near future. Too far away and I don't plan on being there anytime soon.. As long as you know the laws, it's not as important to know the exact route, but just to know the road rules. They're the same on every road. Just don't speed or run stop signs and it's really hard to fail.
0:12 it shows to look up my Glendale or Avondale video. Here's quick version, 1.make sure you turn into exact center of 1st box. 2. Get up close about 2 feet to the front of the box. Before reversing, turn your wheels all the way. 3. Reverse, keep wheels turned fully until centered in 2nd box. Then straighten out and go back until all the way inside. Remember, every car is different, so you will have to practice a LOT with your own car. Avoid taking huge cars, bring something smaller it will be easier. Make sure you understand how your car steers in reverse, practice backing into parking spaces until you can do it easily and the 3 point turn will be easy. If you rush and try to do 3 point turn but don't understand reverse steering, you can make a nervous mistake and fail. The key is to be practiced and confident in your skills. One day I'll probably make a 3 point turn video...
@@bawmeh1491 just don't speed and always make complete stops. Youll be fine. If they have you pull over and reverse in the road, use your blinkers, check your blind spots. Just don't rush it. Good luck!

@@plopping-wetlyacademyofmot9639 also hate to bother again but are you aware if you have to make an appointment for a driving test and license or can you just walk in and do it?
zayo112 First, before you try the 3point turn, find an empty parking lot on a sunday morning, practice parking nose in, and backing in until you're really good at it. Especially backing in. It takes a couple tries to learn the reverse steering but dont give up. Then after your parking game is 100%, go to the DMV after they close, use the course there. First, watch a couple people test and watch what they do. If the person with clipboard gets in the car with them after, they passed. GG&D Motor Vehicle on 43rd ave and Glendale will usually let people practice in their cones even when they're open. There are many public and privately owned MVD facilities around town. Practice, practice practice is the key.
