I have been a pharmacist for over 30 years and have taken 4 MPJE exams. My original MPJE was in Ohio that I took in 1987. I then took the MPJE for Utah in 1999 and I took 2 in one day for Tennessee and Mississippi in 2018 and passed them both! I am now studying for the Kansas MPJE and plan on taking the exam in January or February. Thanks for the informative video and for the many tips you have provided. I had no idea that the DEA published a Pharmacist’s Manual! I printed it off at work and will be studying that carefully. Keep up the great work Sierra! The best advice I can offer (in addition to what Sierra has presented) is go into the exam, breathe and carefully read the questions and think them through. Take your time because you have 2 and 1/2 hours to finish. I haven’t even come close to running out of time so try to relax and think each question out completely before answering!

Thank you so much! I am retaking Missouri MPJE on Sept. I think the most helpful part was that you did the Missouri MPJE, so hopefully the Missouri practice guide is helpful enough! I have been reviewing that mostly with Rxprep.
Seriously thank you for this!!! I was concerned where to focus my attention/find good practice questions. Also I was about to disregard the DEA Pharmacist Manual until I saw your vid (just because it's from like 2010 or whenever and I figured it was outdated) but it DEFINITELY helped cover controlled substance concepts/the different DEA forms in far more depth than my state board's resources. I'm glad I watched this as I was starting studying because it made making the time cards that you suggested easier (adding as I went along versus trying to go back and find the specifics after). Best of all I PASSED NH MPJE AND YOUR TIPS HELPED TREMENDOUSLY!!! I'm genuinely impressed that you passed 2 of these bad boys DURING residency, so major congrats to you and again THANK YOU

Hey Sierra! The info and resources you gave in this video was perfect! I took and passed my CPJE last month and I'm taking the NYS MPJE Monday the 28th. The law advice given in this video is perfect for the CPJE. I relied heavily on RXPREPs CPJE practice and it gave me everything I needed. As you may know the CPJE is heavy on clinical aspects (even though it's a law exam?). I found a nice set of flashcards on Quizlet for that portion and went over basic topics from my RXPREP book. Thanks for the awesome content!
The worst was when the questions had answers that you know are different between the states and you are trying to remember which state has what law! Good luck on your exam!!😊
@@HappyPharmLife 82, same score I got for Florida 7 years ago 😂. Happy nonetheless. Read the 2019 mpje guide book twice, did the section 9 questions 3x, had my wife grade them so I didn't see the answers, but I saw progressive improvement each time I took the questions. Haven't worked in 2 years or looked at anything pharmacy to put it more into context. Should be a breeze for any fresh brain student.

Thanks for the input. I’m planning to take my Texas MPJE on July 1, 2021. At any rate, I feel 77% ready to go. I mainly used my Law notes from my P1 year of Pharmacy School, RxPrep practice questions and book, the Texas State Board Of Pharmacy website, Quizlet, that handout you said on your video and my P4 rotation experiences particularly my time with HEB and Walgreens and my past work experience as a Pharmacy tech so far. Still, I’ll let you know how I did after July 1, 2021 happens and thanks for the advice
I test next Wednesday (July 1) in WI- so nervous! For federal our school recommended the Guide to Federal Pharmacy Law 9th edition by Reiss and Hall; it was a really easy read and has questions after each chapter, plus a 300 question test bank in the back. HOWEVER, I've found a handful of wrong-answer questions in the bank, which is screwing me up! WI is just reading the statutes online which is HORRIBLE- even if a chapter is only 6 pages, it's font size 9 and 2 columns per page so really 6 pages = what feels like 24 pages. I've given myself a month to study after my NAPLEX (passed, thank god), because I know I lack motivation and can't commit to more than an hour or 3 per day, and I certainly don't study every day. Hoping for the best! Also, my tip is take the preMPJE! Most people know of the preNAPLEX and it's pretty helpful, but NABP also has a preMPJE that simulates the test with past exam questions, just like the preNAPLEX. This is the most underutilized resource!
I'm willing to study Pharm D, a pg course....and wish to work in USA....yesterday was confused...to do or to not do... the course .... But later on for my commitment I managed to bring some courage back... Mam! It's6 yrs course in India.... And thanks for this vdo...it's motivational

You're welcome! I've heard the testing experience is very different now! Masks required, they watch you wash your hands with soap and water before entering the room, you must use hand sanitizer, you sit every other seat...so crazy! Good luck! You will do great!😊

Ok, I used the Dea manual, Ultimate Texas MPJE, RxPrep MPJE federal summary and one Texas book online ( Texas & Federal law question)…….I still didn’t pass. I don’t know what I did cause I studied for a MONTH. Right now I’m devastated 😔

That is the difficult part. I always read the questions 2-3 times before submitting often times I found they were asking something different than I originally thought! Good luck!

I personally did not buy it. I have heard it is not the best quality compared to some of the others I mentioned, but depending on the options you have in your state, it may be worth it!
Ty for this helpful video! I have my MPJE exam next friday and I have a question that hopefully you can help answer. Federal law states that unlicensed person may not fill prescriptions but NY state, technicans are considered unlicensed persons and MAY fill . People are telling me to go by the stricter rule, so if an exam answer asks me about this, should I say that unlicensed persons are not able to fill ?
I am no expert by any means, but I always went with the strictest rule when selecting my answers on both of my MPJEs. Not sure if I got those questions right though! If you have time, you can always clarify the wording with the state board to see what "filling " is defined as in NY vs. the federal definition which may be different

I did review the materials on the BNDD website. I didn't review them much though, mainly because my law class was sufficient for me to learn the material. If I didn't have that, I would highly recommend reviewing the material on their website!
Hi Sierra, I am presenting my exam in one more month. I have the DEA manual, competency statement, Michigan pharmacy law review, I purchased the federal and state questions from pharmacyexams. I still need the federal pharmacy law but I can't find any trustful reference. Would you help me please to find the federal law review. I just need the link. Also, how many hours of quality studying time would you recommend per day knowing that I have work too. Thank you
I only used the pharmacyexam questions for rhe federal portion. There is a book out there on Amazon but I didn't use it. Also it depends on your knowledge coming into the exam. I studied more for Texas because it wasn't my home state but I probably studied 10-12 hours total (2 or so hours per day)
I studied for a week while in residency so it is possible with the Ultimate Texas MPJE book! You just have to commit to quality study time for that 1.5 weeks! Good luck!

Unfortunately that is the most updated version and the version I used to study. This manual reviews the controlled substance act which hasn't changed since the release of this guideline in 2010! I am hoping they will release a new one in 2020!😊

Focus on studying the areas you find yourself struggling with more frequently, know your numbers, take a day off at least once a week to give you mind a break! You have plenty of time to get this info down! Good luck!
DEA is federal law. Both federal and state laws are included on the MPJE. For state law, review the specific laws for that state. The resources available by state will vary.

Right now I’m trying something different, I got the pharmacy exams quizzes. I am reading the DEA manual and also will just straight up read the Nevada website. I studied for about a week for both Texas and Missouri. I did have a law class in pharmacy school that covered Missouri law. All the Texas laws were new

My law classes covered most things but since it happened over a year prior to graduating I still had to study as several laws had changed in that time period

It depends on the state, it took less than a week in Missouri once I got my test results. Texas took 9 days, I think. It has been awhile since I took these exams.
At some point, yes. nabp.pharmacy has the reports by school available online for anyone. Not sure when the schools get access to that information though since I don't work for a school of pharmacy.
Does anyone know the exact documents to study from for the Federal portion of the exam? I know it’s CFR title 21, but having trouble finding a unified document just for pharmacy
