Great method for repair. I'd add to Bondo the hole and seams, sand smooth then paint. It will become almost invisible.

Best job yet of all the videos even though somewhat labor intensive. I have about 15 holes 😳🥺

Thanks for this tip! I had a firework blow up on my pourch from neighbors, and it blew a few holes in my vinyl siding.

I have never left a bad comment on someone’s video before until right now. I usually just keep scrolling on by minding my own business. I had to actually sign in to my google account to leave this comment which took some time recovering the password. First just a little of my work history and job titles so you know I’m at least qualified to leave this comment. I worked as a carpenter for 24yrs starting as an apprentice going thru a four year program and working my way up to a company carpenter foreman. A company Carpenter foreman was different than a job site foreman as in you could start a job in the dirt and finish it off with all interior carpentry finishes. Job site foreman’s only had expertise in exterior finishes or interior finishes. So basically either a concrete formwork guy or a cabinet hanging door swinging kinda guy. Company foreman’s basically ran the job in the field as a superintendent would. Anyways I also went thru a 2yr superintendent training program. Then I got my carpentry apprenticeship instructor certificate and started teaching the apprenticeship program after work 2 nights a week. The biggest job I ever ran was a 245 million dollar joint and spine center addition on a major hospital in Cincinnati Ohio. I designed the formwork made the foundation schedule laid the site out decided on how many crews and what size crews We had seismic walls that had to pour monolithically and the tops of them where 80’ long on a 45deg downward slope from 30’ tall one end to 6’ on the other. we had columns that where 40’ tall and had to be poured monolithically but without dropping the concrete more than 4’ from the end of our shoot, without cold joints and poor concrete consolidation . This was a 4yr long job start to finish that had to be executed flawlessly with the other trades to even have a chance at meeting deadline. Then came delivery schedules for cabinetry, doors, door hardware interior pads for mri machines lead lined walls and doors at the same time as we have guys outside working on concrete curbs on the green roof for the roofers and landscapers. Trees that top out at 100’ tall where planted on this roof. But even after all that after all my years with the same company all the jobs I worked on and all that I ran. I still would not get on RU-vid and make videos on how to do things that others have already made videos of flawlessly with pride with each step laid out plainly and correctly. Just to showcase my half ass eye sore hacked up work to others and to teach unknowing people how to do something half ass and incorrectly. First off if for some reason you could not replace the whole sheet like is supposed to be done you could or at least shown a decent looking patch blended in nice and flush with a full inside backer piece instead of a strip and used a type of adhesive such as but not limited to Velcro or double sided tape to pull it back flush. Or even better yet put the backer piece in from side to side snug fit and lappin* behind top and bottom use your screw to glue in that pieced needed then after the adhesive has set up install your outer finished piece of siding with the proper adhesive and let it set up. Fill in flush any remaining gaps in your joints with either paintable caulking or even better yet all purpose bondo. Smooth that out even with the face of your patch and existing siding. You won’t even have to put a hole in the new patch that’s filling the hole that your fixing. So now you have a small patch that’s smoothed out even and just needs painting. This may still leave a spot that can be noticed different if looking closely so it’s best if you can to just replace the whole sheet that’s bad. But if on a budget or the siding color is faded and unable to be matched or you just can’t find the siding or want to find it because your hell bent on fixing what’s there then please do it correctly and not like this hacked up shitty hole patch that you just put another hole but smaller in the center of it. Or do it like this and have a nice new patch outlined by 4 shitty half ass caulk joints along with another smaller hole in the center to caulk. May as well not waste your money with color match paint even on that shit because it’s either gonna look like a shitty patch or a shitty patch your trying to hide

Great method...more caulking though, you can still see the seam clearly.

try tinting the caulk with the paint and then just wipe the cracks and the hole. the cheaper latex caulk is good for this.

Much rather use foil tape, some silicone, and a paint brush with matching paint. Virtually invisible with the right color paint.

With some ingenuity, a bit of time and patience, this is what you get… a nice inexpensive patch job that works! (Cheaper than replacing a sheet of siding.) Good job. Thanks for posting this video.

It's a lot easier to just replace the panel. A 12" long piece cost me 5.00 at Lowes today.

where can I buy faded siding ?
@MarkJonesRanger
@MarkJonesRanger 5 лет назад
@@andreycham4797 Go to the back side of the house and pull off a piece. Replace that with a new piece of siding and take the piece you took off and place it in the front. I used a sharpie to mark the slots and the top of the piece I was taking off. It makes putting the new piece back on fast and error free. Lots of great siding can be used this way. Back side will be conditioning the new one to look faded in a year or so. Only takes about 10 minutes to take off a piece of siding that is just out in the middle of the wall with no pipes or boxes on it. A flat pry bar works wonders on pulling off the nails and you can reuse most of them. Don't nail them in tight the siding needs to hang on the wall not be pressed against it.

@@MarkJonesRanger I took an old piece of siding from a shed and put it on a house . It turns out , the replacement piece is not faded as siding on the house. I did not think to use siding from the house. Thank you for the advice
@MarkJonesRanger
@MarkJonesRanger 5 лет назад
@@andreycham4797 The sun will cook each side of the house differently. So the shading of the siding will be a bit different. Even at that you won't notice it in a few months. Also I changed out a short 3' piece and overlayed the house front side and it sticks out as the rest of the siding that joint is under the previous siding... I can fix it but after a while you don't notice the stuff. I can change it quickly but it's water tight and I know it's different but most don't see it.
