I remember some show on one of the cable channels of someone using a prime mover to power a super loud stereo system in a modified 5th wheel. The music was so loud you needed earplugs just to be near it.
Although it is a roots blower, it is technically not a supercharger. This engine is actually considered naturally aspirated. newer versions come with a turbo/blower...basically a radial blower with an over-running clutch that allows the impeller to free-wheel off the engine when there is enough exhaust blowdown for the exhaust turbine to drive the impeller under higher engine loads.
ThePaulv12 Did you not see the exhaust spit out of the pipes when it started? The tractor is just to start it. You can hear it running clearly at the beginning, see the PTO spin to prime the engine then spin again to start it. once the engine fires they disengage the PTO and let the EMD run free. Peeling apples is hard work. I'm surprised he's not using the 2000hp 16-645e instead.
Where did this 645 come from? I'd personally like an Alco 539, even if it's bigger than one of these. It's a 6-cylinder 4-stroke engine with 12-1/2' x 13" bore and stroke, or 1,595 cubic inches per cylinder, and makes 600hp naturally aspirated or 1000hp turbocharged.
Hahahaha MECHANICAL DISADVANTAGE for sure!!!! From my simple Engineerong Science - EFFORT should be way less than the LOAD. Anyway good invention I like it
Now that's funny right there LOL... I can actually laugh at that! Wow I got old I haven't touched one in 10 years. Or an Alco. An engineering mind outstanding. I no more Tidewater offshore tug boats just in my phones LOL
