A real world scenerio in this case would be the best place to rent a house in a city with the shortest distance to specific spots in a city Thank you
Well, I think this is a combination of suitability analysis and network analysis question (suitability analysis: finding the best place depends on a variety of factors). After finding the best places (using suitability analysis) then you can compute the shortest distances from all suitable areas to all specific spots using OD cost matrix.
Hi, thanks for the explanation, I just have one question because I don't think you mentioned it. Are there any specific reasons why you used this county or was it just a random choice?
We chose this data (county) as the road network contained a speed limit for each road segment. Sometimes the speed limit is not available for counties.
@@HealthGIS ok thank you, but in relation to the problem to be solved, did you decide that this is really necessary for this location? I ask because the study area is not very dense and the city centre is a bit far away, maybe in more urban and populated areas you will have a better result.
That's correct. For this small study area this may not be that necessary, but it can be expanded for large cities as well. However, building your network might need a significant time as you have to first solve some problems such as overshoot and undershoot using topological analysis before running the Network Analysis.
