@@DrJamesGill Did the great Dr Gill just reply to me? Wow. This is better than the time William Shatner replied to me on Twitter. In all seriousness, that’s great for Abby. I have MDD and GAD. I’m on multiple medications and I’ve spent time in a psychiatric hospital. So it’s awesome she does that kind of work.
The simplest thing, and most effective, was raising money for a supply of hot water bottles and blankets to be kept in the med school computer room - some people do LONG hours there
hi. huge fan. small filmmaking tip: google ‘the 180 rule’. the shot of abby should be from over your other shoulder - ie your left shoulder, the shoulder facing the camera in the master/wide shot. another odd quirk of the human brain, we don’t like cuts that jump the ‘180 line’ - we like subjects to stay on the same side of the frame throughout a ‘scene’ no matter what angle we shoot from. why? i’ll let you solve that one, doctor.
The only flaw in this video is that it is short. I'd glad if it lasted longer 😂. Can't the international association of doctors come up with procedures that take more time? I mean, I'd really enjoy watchind Dr. perfoming for like, like, 15 minutes straight 😂
Honestly much better without the masks. Audio has been fine but something about the masks makes it harder to follow. Communication is just much better.
The masks - for this sort of thing are not great, but I wanted to continue, so we have what we have I will however refilm all the mask videos at a later date
Abby looked adorable with her nose clamps on 🤗🥰 Thank you Dr. Gill and Abby for continuing to provide us weird ASMR people with videos to relax to. It has been a life saver for my mental health.
A very different video but fascinating none the less , great job Dr Gill and well done Abbie. Have a lovely day everyone and thank you for taking the time and effort for bringing this to us
As a Maths and Sports Sci grad, it's cool to know about what you're actually doing for once 😅😅. Granted I've wanted to do medicine, but with everything that's gone in my life, SS was the closest doable!
Hi Doctor Gill! Love all your videos and have been watching you since you appeared on an ASMR channel. As a filmmaker I have one SLIGHT suggestion. You videos are definitely getting better and better but in this video during the opening interview, you break the 180 degree rule resulting in both you and the patient on screen right looking left. If you imagine a line connecting you two from nose to nose, both cameras should be on the same side of the line. So there’s a camera over her RIGHT shoulder which there is) and a camera over your LEFT shoulder (but in this video it’s also on your right shoulder). Hope this makes sense. Just constructive advise I hope. Love everything else. You teach me (a non doctor) a lot, thought I’d give some knowledge back!
I've done this test before! For a study at McGill. As a flute player and an athlete, I felt pressure to perform and blow the test out of the water 😂. Their computer said I was in the 101 percentile (which doesn't make sense to me). So, playing flute and running competitive gives you strong lungs, who'd have thought?
The discarded mouthpiece at the end, is it paper or plastic? Thought you might use a disposable cover instead of such a larger chunky piece of plastic/material as a disposable piece.
Normally we do, but for this, we are now both double vaccinated, well, in a previously ventilated room, and both taken a lateral flow test before the video Literally doing all we can to I) keep safe and ii) live with the new normal
@@DrJamesGill oh yes now I understand, here in Italy it's the same, lot of people are taking the vaccine and only a few people are using mansk outside, but inside we must keep them on.. ( sorry for my English)
We still use the peak flow, as it’s easy for patients to monitor that at home. You can see the peak flow reading on the screen here as well in the video
I was told I have COPD based on a PFT after I had a bad pneumonia. I needed to PFT to be allowed to work at my job to make sure the lungs weren't damaged too much for my job. Yet, I have been an athlete all my life. I finished an ironman after this pneumonia. My v02 max is top 5 % of my age. I have literally zero lf the symptoms other than the spirometry. No mucus cough, no continued illnesses, not short of breath.....nothing. Yet, even on a CPEX it supposedly showed up. How is this possible?
I've been waiting for spirometry since lockdown. I'm deemed not "bad enough" and was dropped from the asthma nurse investigations even though I now cannot walk up the street without quite bad SOB. What has happened to the NHS? Gone from being an active gym user and brisk walking 20k a week to a huffing puffing person, all in the space of a month and cannot even get to see a GP. They have dropped the ball.
I had blood clots before, suffered from 2 pulmonary embolisms at the age of 26 and 27. What would have happened if a patient said yes to that question?
I went to a Pulmonologist and his techinician did not tell me to blow fast so I dont trust the results now. Remember youre supposed to blow out fast and hard.
i had a nughtmare of a spirometrist he was getting frustrated because older patients weren't performing the test he shouting no need to shout soi when it came to me i was nervous.
Should be shoes off certainly, but you might notice that the height and weight doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the video, There had been a few issues, so we had to make do with quick and dirty
I would select the birth gender, as that person will have still reached maturity with exposure to the expected hormones, and thus skeletal / muscular development.
I just realized all Doctors should do these tests themselves several times just to know what the patients are feeling at each moment , so this is great practice for Abby
Just realized after she did the test that the doctors did this to me wrong as a child. I remember them telling me to blow blow blow after i had already pushed all my air out quick and fast? Then id be there like PAHHHHHHHHHHH and they're like" hmmmmm again....blow blow blow blow."
