I’ll be at Niagara Falls, Canada for it. I can see it now: a scenic “night” view of the falls, with the Sun blotted out in the background. Issue is, I don’t think I have the equipment. Will have to research. But it’s nice to know I at least can take a photo of the totality without a filter…

I’m in NJ but I plan on heading somewhere around Dayton Ohio. I think I have a better shot of clear skies there versus going north up around Watertown, NY Dayton is 8 hours and Watertown is closer at 5-1/2 but I’m afraid of the lake effect weather there

You forgot to mention "The Anceint Wonderer." An ice volcano comet that will become visable during April 8 eclipse. It will look like a bright angle with wings! Once in a lifetime photo.

Hey man, thanks for the video! I've got a question for shooting the sky during totality: on the 8th April eclipse all the planets visible to the naked eye are there (Jupiter and Mercury on the left, Venus, Saturn and Mars on the right). Which camera settings do you suggest in order to catch this rare alignment? Since the sky won't be as dark as nighttime but as during dusk, I guess the ISO shouldn't be that high firstly. Thanks for your kind attention!

What settings do you recommend for photographing totality and then settings for the diamond ring? I cannot find any videos that get into the nitty gritty details of f stops, shutter speed and iso settings. Could you give me some advise?

We have taken a few trips to view total eclipses over the years. We will be trying to see next year's in Buffalo so we can also see the Falls while we are in the area. Praying for clear skies as we hadn't thought about the seasonal cloud coverage.......

Did I understand you say that you can take the filter off during totally totality? I live in Alabama but most of my family lives in Arkansas. My mom lives close to where the center line is where the sun will travel. Hopefully I'll get my vacation days for that week. We'll be filling out our vacation schedule for next year some time this month. I just got my 180-600mm lens last week. I just need some solar glasses and a filter.

during totality, it will be too dark if you leave the filter on.

You said tripod, but didn't discuss what kind of tripod. I had a cheap one that had always served me well, until I tried to use it with a 900mm lens. Tightening the locking nuts shifted the point-of-aim - it was unusable. You'll need a decent tripod.

No information on ISO or shutter speed or techniques on how to remove the filter without ruining your focus nothing like that.... What a waste of time.
