Thanks a lot for another enjoyable video Kevin. Swallows are a tough bird to shoot because of having a fast and an unpredictable flying pattern. In Singapore where I'm from, they also tend to move away as far as possible from humans, therefore most details will be lost on flying shots, despite me using a 600 with a 1.4x TC. But I continue trying whenever I'm in vicinity of Swallows because it's a beautiful bird in its own right and the challenge makes it fun to track and shoot BIF.
When you can capture a swallow catching an insect if midair you know you have the correct camera settings and you have done a lot of practicing. The R5 camera helps but its that 10,000 hours with the camera that is really paying off.. Great shots. Thanks. .
Hi Kevin, nice vlog. Heading out this morning and hopefully the weather will be fine for some bird photography in my local patch in Glasgow, with a bit of luck I'll see some swallows, I'll need to remember to set the right compensation setting with the auto iso, that's been my downfall in the recent past.
Really good information here Kevin; thank you. I notice you are using a tripod with a video head in the video, do you take your stills with this combo or do you switch to hand holding for those shots.?
