I can see having a tank with a quick fill and drain valves would be great. Maybe even self cleaning, but that is probably pushing it.

Steve Schnetzler if you do this often, totally! -P

Indeed this is tough. Lol. Back when the pandemic started and there were strong restrictions on gathering and no more concerts (the type of stuff I LOVE to shoot), I looked into learning how to do ink photography because it always looked cool. But yes, this is a LOT harder to do, especially if you are doing it by yourself.

Haven't tried it yet - just a couple ideas ... Cold water will slow the diffusion, RainX the interior b4 filling should alleviate the bubbles clinging to the side ( unknown on effect on ink, if any ) - working light to dark should yield interesting effects and give more working time b4 having to empty and refill ... just some thoughts

Cool tip on the tube to drip the ink inside the water :-) My flashes are a bit old and unreliable so I ordered a few AD200 Pro's but like everything else, Amazon is super late shipping things. Hopefully they'll be here soon and now I have a new fun project to tinker around with them :-) I guess the flash power should be fairly low so that the light doesn't bounce back from the glass of the tank and overwhelms the lens, right? And another great tip was the ruler to focus, so you gave me a new idea and two tips LOL

You're potential swimmer picture reminds me more of a nightmare from a horror movie. Best skull effect I've seen.

Well, this was a fun video full of some great tips! I'm not sure I will go the route of another editing software (it took me long enough to get proficient in Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro) but the water shots look like all kinds of fun. Great to see you pushing out new "non-Rona" content too ;)

Reminds me of the intro to James Bond 007: Skyfall; great tutorial and interesting outcomes. Thank you for this!

How about items in the tank Example. A bookend skull theme. And mirror it or clone it a glass skull bottle would be fun to try

What was the small tabletop stand you had that you put your ProPhoto strobe onto? I don't see that in the equipment list... I'd REALLY be interested in such a small stand to put a strobe on tabletop!! Thank you!! Another great and educational video!!

Daaamn - that is one good tutorial. High Quality Content with great presentation and sweet results. I recently took some abstract pictures with Waterdrop-photography again and so I remembered that I wanted to shoot ink in water aswell. You said that 4 gallons still might be a bit much. What size would you recommend then? Something long and narrow like a vase?
@FStoppers
@FStoppers 4 года назад
I would say a 2 gallon is plenty. You want some depth but also some width. Having flat walls is also key so you don’t get distortion or glare. Glass is also recommended. Check out the link to the article in the description for the full write up on Fstoppers. -P

Really cool, I honestly enjoy your content. The thing is in South Africa the camera gear is so steep I have 200D I really love it but it falls apart at night 😭
