This is such an excellent video but as a fan of classic mensware I feel compelled to point out that his shoes are not black dress shoes in the image you first broke down his attire. He was wearing black athletic shoes. Dress shoes tend to include balmoral, Oxford, Blucher, and derby shoes made of calf skin leather. Boots can also be considered dressy if they are made of calfskin leather as well but the boots you wore are better described as heritage footware. However, shoes with thick foam soles are not considered formal/ dress attire. I would love to continue exploring this topic with anyone else who is interested because I find the nuances to be very engrossing. Great video as always!

@@ImitativePhotography fashion, like photography and all else technological and creative has such a depth of history and expressions that both keep me well compelled. I absolutely love your content because I’ve only been shooting for a month at this point so getting these wonderful analysis and technical breakdowns and replications are so valuable for the educational materials they offer all of us. Thanks!

This is a bit late, but I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work and dedication you put into every video you make. The art of photography is rarely discussed anymore, since everyone always talks about the equipment they use. Afterwards, I went back to basics, browsed some old photos, and came across your channel by chance. As a result, I became a fan of your story.

I love your content. Every time I have 20-25 minutes of free time I look to a video. I discovered new photographers and I rediscovered some old ones. I love your style and appreciate the time you take to do your research. The clip at the end is amazing with the voice over the photos you took. But what I appreciate the most is that you do this amazing work with what equipment you have.

This was great fun. I was a huge Bill Cunningham fan, and looked forward to On The Street in the NY Times, and, as technology advanced, online. I love the photo-fashion collages Bill curated. I hope your find your similar path there in Toranto. Gotta love street fashion and flare. You paid beautiful homage to Cunningham.

Uplifting in every sense! Thanks for making me aware of him & his stunning body of work - I will quote his words about Fashion: "It's the amor to survive the reality." It has already struck me positively in your video about Alexey Titarenko that you are not afraid to inevitably "fail" with your attempts, no wonder in direct comparison with the achievements of such masters (nevertheless, I liked the protest photos mostly very much). Reminds me of the thesis that in every "imitation" lurks the chance for a "productive misunderstanding" ... the best example remains for me the story with all those american bands that after the first tours of the Beatles, Rolling Stones or Kinks just wanted to sound like their english idols and invented Garage Punk in the process. So: keep trying :D

I'm gonna request an attempt on the William Eggleston style. I reshot the famous tricycle picture years ago. Sadly I haven't gotten any offers yet. I was hoping to trade it for an apartment in Paris.

Just a matter of time 😁😁😁. Request noted! I was actually tempted to try his airplane cocktail pic on a recent trip but the wing was blocking the view and it seems planes are a lot more cramped nowadays.

Bill Cunningham had the entire history of clothing in his mind and knew on sight exactly the place in it that each person's costume occupied. He detected trends before anyone else, as is acknowledged in the film about Bill.

What he did is now illegal in Europe pretty much. Not the photography itself but its use for magazines and such. I'm not sure how to feel about that. On one hand I guess someone can't take a picture of me picking my nose (or other such things) and put it in larger than life print on the main street (there was a similar case in Germany some years back or the Technoviking controversy), on the other hand, in most cases (like the magazine), I don't feel a functional difference between this and being under camera view throughout the day when just walking around the town. CCTV is being covered by taking pictures for legal purposes while for artist its very much a gray area, especially if you are profiting from that work financially.
