Nice! This is the first video I've seen of yours, I liked it, even if I didn't catch all of the names of creators you like. That being said, I'm obviously totally different: I never follow guides and always try to figure things out by myself until I fail. But I did succeed twice! 😅 Anyhow it's fun and that's the main thing
Great video. You explain the ideas clearly and with a good argument. This is my third league in PoE playing on consoles, and I decided to play in SSF. Thanks for your content.
Love all the SSF and guide video's! There really helpfull, specially for someone that hasn't played a lot of poe. I started playing SSF with necropolis and all the guides really helped me on my journey. Thanks man
Greatly appreciate this video. Had a few HC SSF deaths already, mostly due to some mechanics being more difficult to play on the Steam Deck (yep, me too!) including Ice Nova of Frostbolts in maps, so I’ve been considering starting boat league all over again. Most fun league I’ve played, and it’s been a few leagues now since I last played RF. You’ve convinced me.
I have tons of hours in poe, never played ssf, ill try it out this league and I'll try the bleed lacerate (haven't played melee in a long time) so this video helped a lot!!
Great video! One more aspect that comes to mind for me is personal experience, you kinda touched on ti with Pohx. No matter how OP i struggle with north side builds quite a but ive played melee a lot. I know what to pay attention to and possible solutions that appear on the way to maps. Its no guarantee but if i were to now start a witch build and encounter a snag theres a bigger chance i cant work around it or dont or misunderstand the PoB of the buildcreator etc. This ofc doesnt apply if youre fully new but id say the overlap of completely new and SSF players is not as big.
Yes indeed, I touched on that a bit with pohx, and also at the end by mentioning that the more experienced you are, the less problematic red flags are. I'm much less familiar with melee myself, personally, it is probably the only part of the tree I hardly ever play. I tend to fix that this league though
In my experience a lot of content creators will label something as not got for ssf.. that is. It's worth verifying that in pob ourselves in some cases. Biggest reason i wrote this comment is ball lightning hiero, which was discounted as not ssf viable but in fact was the strongest build I've ever played and phenomenal in ssf.
Good video, interesting how you choose your build. I personnaly will go for a BAMA build,. Played it last league in SSF, it's really good and check all the boxes
i got pretty much the same plan but im going to be starting in trade for the first week or two to figure out if my warden build is going to be ssf viable
Thanks so much. Performance is around 60 fps, if you enable culling and dynamic Resolution. Performance isn't the main issue. The main issue for me is playing builds that require targeting. Which is why RF plays so well
If I understand the game like I think I do a true meta build would naturally be a fast build. No reason to take 10 minutes to do each map. Minutes saved from mapping means that you can run more maps. A good mapping meta build will have great clear and move speed as well. I am sure that this game has been out more than long enough for the players that have been playing this game and creating build guides to know whether change x will affect build y all without testing the build yet again. If there are no changes in the patch that would affect the build and it is a good SSF in the last patch then it will still be good for the new patch. Much how RF was good last league and good this one since there were no changes that affected the build.
Yes, true. It is not always easy to tell what all the changes are, I think that can still be a challenge. Agree with the mapper thing, you want generally to run more maps, unless you prefer juicing maps a lot, in which case they could take up to 10 minutes for sure
I think it's a mistake to judge the SSF viability of a build based on a cursory glance of the end-game gear shown. For example, frostblink (or WoC) ignite elementalist is a fantastic league start once you understand the gear progression. As an example you give an immediate pass to frostblink ignite simply because you saw a few uniques and you say WoC ignite looks like a better one yet these two builds are nearly the exact same build and the choices for gear could apply to either. The main struggle with the build is physical mitigation in yellow-to-red mapping prior to getting lightning coil. The uniques shown are by no means required for the build to function they are just an example of the better choices to strive for. Another example, Ball Lightning of Orbiting you immediately pass over because of one line of text stating bad for SSF but that could not be further from the truth. BLoO is one of the best SSF league starters in the game right now. The only reason it could be "bad for SSF" is you have to spend some time farming merc lab for your skill gem. Both ignite ele and BLoO were fantastic league starters in 3.24 so it isn't for a lack of knowledge of how they operate in 3.25. Knowledge of how to progress your gear and deal with the shortcomings of the build that a unique like lightning coil serves is what makes or breaks a league starter. I think you should play the builds before passing judgement on them and giving recommendations to newer players, especially builds that have been around for a while. If a newer player were to take your advice they'd have passed up two of the comfiest league starters in the game. Just trying to give some constructive criticism.
Hey there, I appreciate the constructive criticism and you have a point for sure. If the build creator is saying it isn't great in SSF, I don't really fault myself for echoing that sentiment. There are plenty of other builds to choose from, after all. When it comes to the other one, I think you're right in that it may be too quickly judged. The section was meant as more of a glance at builds, but I see your point for sure. If I make a video like this next league again, I'll take this into account. Thanks again.
I'll go with my own build as I always do on leaguestart SSF, but I'm gonna keep it safe and roll a LS Slayer as I know that ascendancy, endurance charges got buffed and overall it will have solid defences
This is an awesome video! Anything in particular you feel would be good for farming Ultimatum and Rituals in SSF? By far my favorite mechanics but Ultimatums are pretty tough
I'm going trade, but i follow similar principles - no warden/glad, no ret and no slam at the start of the league. I'm going to try frostbolt hiero, then accumulate currency for something melee. And after i saw maxroll advetising splitting steel as a good levelling skill in necropolis, i just dont trust them anymore, lol
I don't think that necro minion army build on maxroll is a good choice as a league starter in SSF. At least for players without thousands of hours of experience. It has almost all of the red flags you've mentioned including uniques, cluster jewels, respecs, skill swaps, etc. Even the Animate Guardian thing which I don't have yet needs a bunch of its own uniques. Also, several of the recommended spectres seem challenging to get since the guide recommends you get them from other players. Maybe some of its unnecessary or there are SSF friendly alternative options, but if that's the case it wasn't obvious from reading through the guide.
I've actually tried it, and it is not great indeed. Even with Twink gear and as a second character, it kinda sucks until you have all the pieces which I still don't have.
@Thyworm im not sure if you've seen Rue's FB Katabasis Slayer. It looks good. Saw TyTykiller did a10 run for him without the FB Katabasis gem and white wind or any uniques. Your thoughts?
I did see that. It looks solid for sure. It had quite a few uniques, and you need to farm the gem, but I think it is a good build. I played my own version for a bit last league, and while it was a bad build because I'm bad at making builds, the skill itself is a lot of fun.
Great video brother. What are you thoughts on Ice Shot of Pen vs Ele hit of spectrum deadeye for SSF? if you know about those builds. Thanks in advance!
Rf is a nice mapper, but it does basicly no boss dmg. even with absolute high end gear. so map bosses in yellow and red maps will be painful.look at the high end pob from pohx or watch the podcast from Ruetoo and Pohx. with gear worth 100 div, disable firetrap and the condition of standing still=400k dps.... But,nice VID!
Baiting myself for the biggest fail of my life, something slam zerker. Leveling as sunder and into maps let’s see what does well. If I hit a road block, farm many low level maps into chieftain or jugg. Will try to make the pob tomorrow, another big risk, going piano style. I assume just 1 dmg cry plus enduring cry should be decent for white and most blue mobs. Rares I can press 4 buttons. Always wanted to play berserker, let’s see how it is.
Main criticism I hear about berserker is that it is squishy. So it might also depend a bit on the content you're doing, and on how hard the league mechanic is going to be
@@Thyworm Yup, fully aware ill be taking 10% more dmg. 1st button into every pack will be enduring cry to offset the squish. The build will be functional on jugg as well and i can farm 50 maps to get gold for the swap if needed. Plus a few regrets have to drop.
Bleed glad lacerate for my first 2 ssf stones then if i am able to craft a good claw ls,if not then ima go archmage to finshup void stones and just minmax that till i either can craft ls gear or get bored in the middle of month 2 and take a break till next year
For me, SSF is precisely where you want to try untested things. You don't have to be fast to be ahead of the curve, so rerolling is just fine. That being said, if one has low tolerance for that, they should 100% go for a tried and true build.
I can see that. I'm just horrible at making my own builds, and I realized that it isn't an aspect I enjoy a whole lot either. So that isn't much of an option for me, and neither is fixing builds, so I tend to pick safer league starters
what annoys me is every league it seems there is like 4 ssf builds and thats it, im sure alot more abilities are actually viable for ssf, even as a start but instead its just heres 50 different lightning arrow builds that are only different to each other by 2 nodes
If you look at maxroll, quite some of the builds Ziz puts out, and some others, I would say you have plenty of options this league. And after a week, you have 20 more options.
Ah and I'm still thinking about my pick. Siege Ballista, Arc Totem or Flameblast of Celerity Totem as Manastacker I played RF Chieftain already last league Another solid choice from HCSSF Creator tatiantel2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6FA-kBCv1tI.htmlsi=99WvdTETf_NPi8uH
Tati's build is my backup plan. I may fail completely with cold dot occ, it needs "enduring composure" to survive in ssf. In case I fail, i'll go to stormburst totems. POG
@@timati78rus I don't like storm burst, divine ire and ball lightning with their ramp up time and the flashing all the time. But its a great build with good single target too
This what i like in ssf so much you need much longer but you have fun and every time a good item drop you are happy . :) but in trade ... you buy it ...... and this is boring asf...
@@Thyworm Tatiantel2 - totem guy HC SSF (R), participate in Gauntlet, boss kills att the end of event. Has comprehensive video guide for 3.25 at his YT. Paak_HC - HC SSF player, two times meta creator in HC since 3.20. Take a look, thay are both good. Paak suffers this league as he is top side of the tree player, unfamilliar with melee, but keeps cookn' something good.
Ah thanks. I'll check them out. I typically find that HC players' guides focus too much (understandably) on survival, rather than fun and DPS, so I don't gravitate towards them much.
@@Thyworm Jung is my favourite among them all. He is digging into buld dump and refining interesting builds from that trash. Main problem is to progress Jung's build, even play it till endgame. You MUST be about the same level as Jungroan to be successful. I definitely can not do anything with his builds. I'd lose character at yellows. Or corpse-rush at reds. Jung is kind of bait.
It's not that bad, I've played it before. Plus there may be some buffs in the league mechanic to help it out, like recombination or the new weapons enchants.
