I was curious, could you please share What equipment did you choose to record the cockpit audio? Thank you.

I believe we use a splitter from the headset jack that feeds directly into the go pro and mixer.

I notice that as you lift off, and just prior to touch-down, the skids appear to be level. How can that be when a bit of roll cyclic is required to offset the sideways thrust of the tail rotor? You have two passengers, so CG (I'm thinking) should be close to the center axis. I would just expect to see more of a roll angle. Unless you were experiencing a very steady light wind from right to left. Any thoughts? At 11:53 it did look like the right skid lifted off slightly before the left, but after getting into the air, it appears to be level again. Looking more closely, the shadows of the skids may tell the story. The low angle of the sun "amplifies" the roll angle, and it DOES appear to have a roll angle to the left. It's just not very apparent looking at the skids themselves.

You are correct, translating tendency, caused by tail rotor thrust will tend to push the aircraft in the direction of that thrust. The r44 and indeed most helis, other than the r22 rig their main rotor masts to compensate so you don’t need cyclic input, thus mitigating the appearance of roll. Indeed the r66, which has an even more powerful tail rotor has more propensity to set down left skid low. The fuel load will alter things too as the main tank on the r44 is on the left.

@@Anthelionhelicopters Hey, Thanks very much for that explanation. I never considered the possibility that they would design a little tilt in the main rotor mast to compensate. So with that compensation, the result is that the airframe hangs level (assuming CG is below the rotor head). Very cool. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Hi Alex, I wish I had a CFI like you in the beginning. The first fellow I was assigned was an ex military guy, simply abysmal human being...kept barking like a drill sergeant and by the 8th hour I was afraid to even get in the machine with him. I went to the owner and he assigned me another instructor, calm collected, gentle much like you. he got me solo teaching the same technique which he called "lift and fix" by the 14th hour in the R22 Beta, something clicked and everything made sense. I could perform a stable pick up to hover and hover to touchdown. then we went onto pattern work and x/c. God bless

@@leilanurena yes it is, sure you’ll do great, just make sure you keep calm and breathe so you remain relaxed on the controls. You’ll be able to think more clearly and make smoother more calculated actions and reactions.

Great video. Was looking for some good pilot shoes, which ones were these? 2:32

Just some comfortable shoes that allow you to feel the pedals through the soles - just don't make the soles too thick as you won't feel the pedal pressure as well to start with.

I was able to hover at a flight time of 2h15 with the help of your content and once I figure out that the commands are managing a mechanical point where we are "hanging off" the main rotor and that the cabin is in a constant pendulum motion with that point (rotor)👌

Awesome 👍 😎 Yes accurate if you site in a R 22 and have learnt in a Bell 47 it's much better to do this inkl. a flight instructor so much different it is to fly. 10 - 4
