I have always been fascinated with the idea of pick pocketing. It is a different kind of slight of hand and in this video you will see just how easily it can be done with misdirection!
I thought I would share this fantastic video with you of the professional James Freedman. This goes to show you just how powerful misdirection can be. Misdirection is a huge part of magic and it is amazing to see how powerful it is.
Watch him steal the mans Iphone at 1:54 :P
I saw this on another channel and thought it was great. Then I realized that it had the Creative Commons Attribution license....I then was like man I have to share this with everyone :)
James Freedman is truly amazing and I hope you guys can see just how great you can become with a bit of practice.

These videos are interesting but you're never going to be in a situation where you are touching and inspecting a person so much. I would love to see more videos that are actually realistic scenarios.

no you can you just have too learn how to touch some one but on the street you do it the way every one thinks there is no technique to it you just get use to reaching in and not getting caught

J Bridgeman not really i use to do it a few years back you just need a group and a plan theres not really much to it (easiest way to steal my friend but i don't recommend it its fun and all you get money but it is kinda stressful)

Reverse pickpocket people. When I treat my friends to lunch and they try to pay me back, I slip the cash back into their pocket when they don't notice

The other guy surely noticed his phone was missing at the end before he left the stage while he was patting his pockets. I'd like to think in that position I'd have bumped into Freedman and retrieved my phone from his jacket. Pickpocketing the pickpocket is really the only appropriate thing to do, in that case.

It's because they are on stage they are distracted by the audience and cameras and are easily distracted and they also weren't looking because it was supposed to be a demonstration so they didn't pay any attention to him not putting the things back in real life like on a bus people would notice instantly if they were being pick pocketed unless like he said it was a group or in tight spaces maybe even special things if it hanging out of the pocket in daily life I'm always aware of myself

You have no idea. Check out Bob Arno´s collaboration with Nat Geo, and you´ll notice that pick-pocketing happens daily. It's a 45 min video but it´s worth watching it. I don´t know if it is all made up or not, but at least gave me the idea that it exists. I understood that they work in teams, and they are seeking for tourists or any crowded area. Just watch the video. At least it's enjoyable (: God bless!

Are you stupid? A purse? They just cut the string. Jeans? They just bump into then briskly walk away. It's not very hard. I've taken many peoples phones. Given then back, then told then not to wear such tight pants, it makes the contents of your pants very visible.

+Carson Stephens he only did that to show that pickpockets aren't always alone and have someone else in on it for things that can't be done with just one person and to remain far more inconspicuous, such as the story he told about the card number and the phone, and in this case if he was actually doing this on the street he might get called out by the victim, in which case he can allow them to search him and there will be no proof of anything having been stolen. I think Apollo does a better job though but this was still cool.
