You forgot the crumple trick. The tyvek that most numbers are made of flap about and make noise even when pinned well. We crumple them up into a ball before smoothing them out again and then pinning. Makes them more pliable and silent.
It's probably worth stressing that the number's position is ultimately dictated by the organisers of the event. While most professional races have them pinned over the lower part of the jersey, race organisers might stipulate that the number be positioned on the side of the jersey in order to aid recognition in sprint finishes.
The last race I rode, only one other person showed up. I was given the number 69 & I came first despite the other rider being on top of me all the way to the finish
You would be surprised how many entry level racers pin their numbers on in a way that makes them unreadable at the finish line. That results in a DNP as their race result. I have seen enough variations on bad pinning technique that a "how to" video is warranted.
You'd be surprised at how many people pin race numbers in such a way that it's either flapping in the breeze or billowing like a parachute, which only serves to slow you down. Plus not having the number pinned across the top part invites people, when they're busy riding and don't have time to be extra careful, to put water bottles and gels behind the race number rather than back into the jersey pocket, so all that crap just slips right through and onto the road.
Most of your videos are hardly relevant. Or interesting for that matter. GCN have some really interesting content with a large proffesional and amateur following rather than some small time bike shop owner with about 3 subscribers talking about a new type of nut he's just bought.
Next on GCN how to brush your teeth before a big ride, and how to fasten that pesky velcro on the back of your gloves. Dont ride anywhere until you see our next update!!
This really useful guide could use a companion video on how to use a safety pin, they're really confusing. In fact a whole series of videos would be handy - I'm currently struggling with how to put on my socks, perhaps a how-to video would help me out? So many things to remember, left and right, inside out, correct length, colour coding, turn-ups, agghh need help badly.
