The hardest thing about Navy EOD is the first week of BUD/S.

I was a Navy Reserve IS1. In 2006, I was deployed to Camp Speicher, Tikrit, assigned to EOD Mobil Unit 2. I had been, over years, Army, Army Res, Mass Army Guard, Hawaii Army Guard, US Navy Reserve and then activated to the US Navy. I had breaks in service over the years from 1973 to the end in 2009. The personnel I worked with at EOD MU2 were the coolest folks I ever met in uniform. ALL of the officers were Academy guys but nothing like the ring knockers of the West point type. I got back to Pearl Harbor on 7-7-07. I was 56. I was discharged May 2009.

Glad to hear EODCM Seitz mentioned. He motivated a generation of techs and was CMC at EODMU THREE and CTF SPARTA.

Geez! In 1978, you had to be second cousin to God to get a chance at EOD.

In the mid to late-2000's, the Navy (and the military) needed more EOD Techs. than the operators, because of IED's became the # 1 threat to U.S. Troops in both A'Stan & Iraq. What EOD Class were you in, Chief?

@@echooscardelta4194 : '07? Damn! I feel old (I went in '99). Hopefully, you did not spend all of your Enlistment Bonus (and since your are/were a Chief, I guess you got a nice Re-enlistment Bonus as well) on local strippers.

Isn't EOD's Motto; If Your see Me Running away, try and keep up? Did You cut the Red wire instead of the Blue one?

Air rescue, SEAL, EOD, Diver and SWCC all have their own division and all have an added PT portion that prepares you for the specific challenge programs as mentioned with motivators from all those communities that give harder workouts and some wisdom for what is to come in those pipelines.

There aren't any more twin pins currently serving. There were quite a few at one point.

It is very rare now. Prior to 1995 it was more common. I think JT Turner was the last.
